    • Good machine with no development in 20 years
I can't take many stars off because iFitnessDirect delivered this machine quickly and it is pretty well built. Although there was a big scratch on the tank. Its just cosmetic, but kind of disappointing to see in a "brand new" item. I owned another one of these rowers 20 years ago and basically rowed it into the ground. I put 10s of millions of meters on it to the point where everything was starting to fall apart. On one hand, this is great. I.e. the machine stands the test of time. But, in good conscience, I can not give it 5 stars. What eventually did my old machine in was the glue that holds the top and bottom of the tank started cracking and fell out. This highlighted a flaw in the design in that the top tank fits over the bottom (i.e. the water will just leak out if the glue fails). In 20 years, the best solution waterrower has been able to come up with is to put a piece of tape over the seal. This means that 1. They are aware of the problem and 2. They have no desire to fix it or competent engineers at the company to design a real solution. Just flipping the tank upside down would go a long way to addressing this issue. My other complaint is that in 20 years they have made literally zero advances to their computer. This is surprising to say the least. Just to be able to source tech parts for 20+ years is difficult. It would have been really nice if they had hired one engineer in 20 years to re-design the computer. It is exceptionally simple, would be an easy project, and would add value to the machine if it had some very basic features. On the other hand, if you want an old water based rower that just works, this is not a bad choice. ... show more
