Works and fits perfectly in the license plate light assembly of my 2013 mk6 GTI with the camera adapter supplied with my RCD330 Desay CarPlay head unit - we did need to strip the adapter and add it to the same adapter in the factory wiring harness and we needed to tap the power and run a switchable line from the fuse box - cut the white wire if you want the grid lines, leave it if you don’t. Ground to the body in the spare tire well with a self-tapping screw. Done in two hours. I’m happy. Somehow the offset doesn’t skew the image ... it all works. ... show more

    • Fits perfect on MK6 GTI
2014 MK6 GTI - Fits perfectly in the driver side licence plate light housing. Came with plenty of wire to hook into the tail light for power and to reach the head unit without issue. Clear video but not adjustable, but the positioning works just fine so you dont need to adjust.

    • Great backup camera for the price
I installed this on my 2012 mk6 GTI and it works fine. The only downside is that the camera is nonadjustable and the view is a little too close for my liking. It gets the job done for making sure I can back up as close to the curb as possible. This is maybe a two-hour job so make sure you set aside some time. In order to hide the cables, I had to remove the lower dashboard underneath the steering wheel and trim pieces along the driver side A, B, and C pillars. Then I removed the spare tire and the styrofoam surrounding the tire. I also had to remove my bumper to route the power and video cable into my trunk. I spliced the 12v auxiliary port in the trunk to the camera in order to power it. ... show more

    • Great fit. Acceptable video. Questionable durability.
Pros: - The camera fit great into the existing license plate light hole. - Original light bulb fit into the new housing. - Plenty of video cable length Cons: - Power cable could have been longer. I was able to connect it to an existing power source in the trunk, but would have issues if I wanted to connect to the backup lights. - Camera isn't square to the back of the car. The camera is screwed into the housing, and there's no room for adjustment. - Video quality is just okay. - No way to turn off the ruler in the video. - I had a couple instances of the camera not turning on. Might be due to the heat (Phoenix, AZ). Hopefully it holds up. ... show more
