  • Fits perfect, works better
Style: Digital Media Reciever
Watched this unit for some time. Kept coming up as the best for Android and Apple Car Play but really wasn't needing it right away. Price dropped, checked and still best rated and waited. And with last price drop and checking on rating I pulled the trigger. Now it's in the car and wow, so good and fast at connecting and the rest of the performance is great, as expected. So many Kenwood's in my past and in my garage (dating way back to the 70's home audio) I just could not be happier. Perfect! ... show more

  • Great product
Style: Digital Media Reciever
I installed this myself with minimal experience doing this type of work. Had a couple head scratching moments but figured it out. Overall I am extremely pleased with this product and will buy another one should the need arise. The only thing to consider when installing is that Apple Play only works when plugged into the USB on the back of the unit. If it’s your intention to use this feature you’ll need to figure out how to get the USB plug accessible. ... show more

  • Is Kenwood quality gone too?
Style: Digital Media Reciever
Clock time changes often but not more than an hour off. Yes it's hooked to proper power wires. Volume up and down are a pain. They're small and easy to miss. The software is less than what I would expect from Kenwood. Its slightly better than my stock radio.

  • New truck stereo

This is a great inexpensive head unit. It has everything i was looking for, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and backup camera capable. Easy install with the correct mounting bracket.

  • Not even remotely intuitive design
Style: Digital Media Reciever
Installation was a snap, I will give it that. Beyond that, once it's in place and on, this thing is awful. And to make matters worse, they only include an installation manual, not a hard copy of the user manual. You have to download that, so there won't be a nice tidy, small copy to stash in the glove box for the poor soul who borrows your car and tries to figure out how the stereo works. Since I spend a lot of time in different rental cars, I am familiar with the way a lot of different touchscreen stereos work. This one is so far from intuitive to program and use that I'm going to guess that anyone who borrows my truck will either need a personal tutorial or at least to have me turn off the radio and leave it off. Unless they get down super close or have really sharp eyes, they won't be able to see the microscopic print for any of the menu "buttons". Since my truck doesn't have a steering wheel control for the stereo, you have to know where to look for the (again - microscopically labeled) volume controls and tuning is only so-so at best. Adding favorite phone numbers means either scrolling through what in my case, is a really long list of contacts imported from my phone (with no "go-to" alphabet list, you have to scroll through the whole thing) or you can enter the number by hand, which means there is no option to put a name with it or even put in the dashes to make it more readable. You'll end up with 5552221212 instead of 555-222-1212 in your favorites list. Time will tell whether or not the android auto or car play features turn out to work as well as I know they can. This unit is over-complicated to the point of absurdity and seems designed specifically to be hard to use. Major disappointment ... show more

  • A lot of features for the money
Style: Digital Media Reciever
I have had a Kenwood head unit in the past and really liked it but it was a entry level unit, I've been looking at several different head units to replace my Sony and I have to say that I was amazed at the features as well as the sound quality that comes from this unit! I am very peculiar about my music and when I installed this unit and turned it on I was blown away! If you are looking for a head unit that has tons of features and sounds excellent without breaking the bank, this is the unit for you, to get a unit with all these features and sound quality!! You won't be disappointed! ... show more

  • Underwhelming
Style: Digital Media Reciever + DVD Player
It’s been over 15 years since I last bought an aftermarket radio (pioneer motorized touchscreen DVD receiver and AVIC Nav system). Sadly, this Kenwood DDX5707 unit isn’t much more advanced. First, let’s just get it out of the way, it plays only ripped and burned DVDs or straight “DVD” which no one buys since 2010. Not blu-ray, 4K…just plain DVD. One would think in over a decade of car stereo marketing they surely would have figured that out by now. Second, Apple car play and screen mirroring are ONLY via usb connection, not Bluetooth. The dim feature also can’t be customized to how much dimmer the screen gets when car illumination dims when turning on headlights. It doesn’t dim much. The unit has some nice features like graphic eq and car play and A/V in which can play video from devices if you can get the signal down to a 3.5mm av plug. Good luck finding anything of quality to do that which out engine noise and external feedback from cables. The subwoofer out is also only one mono rca so it requires an rca y cable to get L/R audio for the sub. Overall it’s just underwhelming for the price of last year’s model and requires a lot of extras to make it function. I needed a backup camera retention harness, remote steering wheel control harness, car radio harness to connect direct to Kenwood harness, car antenna retention harness, and the rca y cable to go with a 6 rca out monster cable. I paired this stereo with a Kenwood x802-5 eXcelon 1600W amp and 12” shallow mount Skar 800W sub in a sealed shallow mount box and 4 Kenwood KFC-1666 300W door speakers. The sound quality is on par with what I expected from the Kenwood brand and am fully satisfied in that area. I’m mostly unimpressed with the A/V in options and the limited DVD compatibility. ... show more
