🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews for this product display a mixed bag of opinions. Some users rave about the excellent sound quality, with the additional advantage of numerous EQ options and ample connectivity choices. However, several users find the user interface clunky, the Bluetooth connectivity inadequate, and the navigation system inefficient. Also, a sluggish response time on tasks like Android Auto connection and startup might deter potential buyers.

Pros

  • 🎵 Excellent sound quality
  • 🔀 Numerous EQ and connectivity options
  • 🎥 Allows for up to 4 camera inputs
  • 🎛️ Detailed 3D maps

Cons

  • 🔵 Clunky user interface
  • 🔵 Unreliable Bluetooth connectivity
  • 🔵 Limited camera options
  • 🔵 Sluggish response time and laggy navigation system

Should I Buy It?

While the product shows promise with its audio quality and other features, it falls short in user experience due to unreliable Bluetooth connectivity and a clunky interface. Hence, if you prioritize high-quality sound and multiple connectivity options, this could be a suitable purchase. However, if user-friendly interface and smooth operation are a must for you, it might be wise considering other options before making a buying decision.

  • Amazing unit, this is the one.
Amazing unit so far, vendor sent fast and was eager to help with questions when I was hung up on a little confusion. Unit came new with up to date software and really sounds great, you can also get a cheap remote CHEVY EXPRESS- it will fit all years used hot glue on plastic mounting kit to beef it up and is solid. ... show more

  • All around TENs on all categories. Music and entertainment
One of the greatest stereos I’ve ever put in a vehicle. I want to get another one for my truck but it’s very pricey. It’s worth it but lol when you get to the thousands of $$ it’s hard to keep buying these for all your vehicles. But it is the best so at least you’d be getting the best.

Apple car play works great. Very pleased with the options. Installation was easy. Note make sure you install the two screws behind the radio on the mount before testing it out. It will not power up without them.

  • SiriusXM Tuner Not Included
The system (i.e., audio, navigation, etc.) is very cool and user-friendly. However, it is NOT SiriusXM ready. SiriusXM ready means the tuner is installed, and all you have to do is register the ID with SiriusXM. That is not the case with this system.

  • DNR-1007XR: A radio that has everything
Some of the reviews of this unit are so inaccurate. This is an outstanding everything you could want unit. I purchased it new for $1100 which was way under list price. Garmin Nav works as expected. Live traffic by Inrix was removed but Nav is still quite useful and functional. Only thing is you have to use back arrow key to start a NAV which wasn't well thought out by Kenwood. Android Auto and Carplay works wirelessly and I have had no disconnection issues. I can use waze or voice dictate a message as all android auto/car play features work flawlessly. I use YouTube Music to make my own music lists without commercials. My pixel 8 pro phone lacks miracast for screen mirroring but I found a cheap bidirectional screen mirroring USB dongle which works flawlessly. I can use chromecast to play videos or tv. Note you need to internet in your car for best results. It works flawlessly. Sound is unbelievably crisp and professionally adjustable with 6 5V preouts. I hear zero distortion even at volumes 65-70 percent of maximum. I bought Sirius XM tuner for $69 on eBay. Wish Sirius XM live traffic worked with Kenwood/JVC units as they are all more than capable. Problem is Kenwood is too lazy to add a software patch. HD FM however also works extremely well. I can easily go from bidirectional screen mirroring to android auto to Chromecast to NAV to any of it's many radios at a touch of a button. There is split screen capability that adds to flexibility. Can add own wallpaper or do a slide show of favorite photos. I use the recommended cmos 740 HDLP 720p wide angle rear camera (purchased for $150) with adjustable guidelines while driving. Incredible video quality! I still have 3 other video options I can add! I can use a blue ray/DVD AV in and output to separate speakers in back of car by AV out. I can play movies also by USB or SD card but I need to remove Nav SD card to do do the latter. Fir the older generation unit supports iPod as well. Sound is just so pro quality and adjustable! It is impossible to rate this stereo less than 5 stars as it has everything you could ever want! Excellent value for what I paid. Recommend professional installer to minimize issues with setting it up as it is fully loaded. ... show more

  • Expensive Paperweight
Navigation through southeast Arizona near the border found the navigation system useless for all intents and purposes. Vague pathways outlined in color but no indicate of what nearby or even close until you are upon it. Hooked into RV cab setup was quickly lost as turn camera showed backup trace lines whether right or left. Backup camera stopped automatically coming up when in reverse. Could always be blamed on operator inexperience but as an operator, I’d prefer to have something a bit more user friendly especially when considering the exorbitant cost of this unit. ... show more

  • Best sounding car stereo of 2020 Best sounding car stereo of 2020
Kenwood excelon 1007XR or 1057XR (without navigation) or DMX1037S (1 year warranty instead of 2 and 4V pre-out instead of 5V) are the audiophile quality DSP units for your car. I upgraded my Harmon Kardon unit in 2019 Subaru Outback with fantastic results. Despite NOT upgrading the factory HK speakers/amplifier, stereo sound from this unit is very crisp and detailed with a 3 dimensional quality. Unit screen has zero lag with many custom EQ adjustment options to change the music to your liking. It has 3 different settings to increase the bass output from the woofers (it feels like my car has a sub-woofer). With the optional maestro module, all the other car features work very well (I can see tire pressures/trip info etc.,) Back Up camera works immediately without any lag while the unit is booting up. Song playback resumes within 10 seconds along with the maps after starting the vehicle. If you have the latest iPhone or android devices, wireless iPlay/android auto works beautifully with screen mirroring and you can save money by skipping the model (1007XR) with built in maps feature. My Huawei mate 20X is working with wireless android auto after enabling wireless projection feature in the developer settings (Go to Android auto - About > Scroll to the bottom > Tap "version" 8 times until Developer Mode is enabled). MAPS: The 1007XR 3D MAPS are more detailed and vibrant compared to the usual phone android maps mirrored to the screen (they have the google white background). CONS: 1) "Live traffic" feature only works after you download the free "Kenwood INRIX traffic" app on your phone and use Bluetooth to connect it to the main unit. I don't get it why it is not included free with the Garmin maps (must be something to do with the data). Once it registered the unit, the app says I will get 5 years worth of free traffic information. I am not sure about the amount of fee after that period. The only reason I purchased 1007XR instead of the cheaper 1057XR is for the "live traffic" feature, as I like to zoom out and see any bad traffic on the way to/from work. 2) All the detailed MAP settings are accessed by a separate menu, which only appears after hitting the "back arrow symbol" located in the "left lower corner" of MAP view (see picture); Once you find these settings, you can change the color mode to day or night and several other parameters. The traditional "three horizontal lines" icon on the "right lower corner" of the MAP is only to access few quick settings. I wish they combined all the settings in one menu. 3) Auto-brightness feature is not working when in sync with vehicle or NAV as expected, so unit runs very bright at night time and there are no manual controls to lower the brightness. I changed the color mode to "dark" to lower the screen brightness. It could have been an installer error with some wiring. 4) Root menu folder access from the SD/USB devices takes few clicks; FINAL WORD: Invest in one of these Kenwood's and you won't be disappointed; I recommend buying the 1057XR or DMX1037S models to save money. The audio resolution of this unit exceeds my high end 20K home audio system (Martin Logan/Krell/Cary audio combo). It is probably because it is a closed space, but still very impressive and I keep playing all my favorite lossless music tracks from SD card and USB drives (using "Amok playlist copy" to preserve/force the order of playlist songs in the folders). ... show more
