This is a very nice dashcam. Likes: Very compact Great picture quality Easy to set up Wi-Fi to control and view recordings A lot of configurable options The build quality looks good (initial impression) Will see how it holds up Excellent user guide. One of the best I've seen in years. Well-written, comprehensive, color, high-quality images, heavy stock (not tissue paper), large enough to read without a magnifying glass. I used their branded SD card because I didn't want to fool around with SD card issues. Fixed mount and Suction mount Included spudger to help in routing cable behind door seals. A thoughtful touch. Dislikes: None so far I chose to use the 3M fixed mount, not the suction mount because of my previous experience with dash cams suction mounted they fell off frequently, and after a while exposure to the sun made the suction cup hard and then didn't seal well Questions: Use of the 3M mount required ~3x5 inch thin clear plastic film to first be applied to the glass then the 3M mount was adhesively attached to the film. It's not clear to me why the 3M Mount couldn't be attached directly to the glass, but I used the film per the directions. Why was the film required? I bought 2 of these for my 2 cars. It is for protection in case of an accident, to document what happens in a crash. The package arrived on time. I bought the additional Rove memory cards recommended. Video of installation referenced was good. The device is small. The features of playback and lock are good. The manual is good. Video quality is good. Image quality is good. Cord length is adequate to run cord so it is hidden. Unfortunately, neither unit connected to my Android phone, as it was supposed to, and I got an error message as in the picture above. The customer service number had a recording. The recording advised me to use text messaging, but answered the text 2 hours later with questions and a request to download videos to them, which I did. They emailed me, and suggested restoring the camera to factory default, turning off mobile data on the phone, restarting phone, force phone to forget pairing, and deleting and reinstalling the Rove 3.5 version App. None of this worked. Update: I was contacted by email by Customer support, who reported that there was a bug in the ROVE App 3.5. They said the new version , 3.6 is now available, and to update my app from the play store. The new app worked immediately. Product is now functioning very well. Video playback and download can be done via chip to computer, camera to phone, or camera to computer with supplied cable. I am satisfied with the product as it is functioning now, which is good because I bought and installed 2 of them before encountering this bug. Thanks to customer support. ... show more

    • Came in handy a few times! Awesome quality, but aftermarket SD card issues?
Driving on the highway and through the city can be sketchy, and I feel protected having this camera. I had a very close call the other day and it would've saved my tail. The suction cup works great and has never fallen except for the time I accidentally put part of it on the black dots. The app is a bit buggy and after some time it no longer wanted to use the aftermarket SD card that exceeded their specifications so I was forced to buy a Rove branded SD card. The aftermarket card I had purchased was working for quite some time and then one day the camera decided that it was too slow. Formatting didn't help. Not a huge deal, though it felt a bit scammy. It almost felt like the printers that can recognize that somebody is using an unbranded cartridge and won't run. Either way, the quality is great and it's easy to pull the card out to view the video on the computer. My only gripe is the power cord having the 90° angle on the end that just happens to point upwards instead of downwards which puts a fair bit of stress on the cord's strain relief and possibly the camera's plug. It's not a huge deal and I could resolve it by routing the wire differently, but due to living in the city, I don't leave it installed if I'm parking for an extended period of time or somewhere sketchy. I recommend this camera to all who are in the market for one. My family exclusively uses these cameras. ... show more
