Just like so many reviews, I tried to fix my water softener leak by replacing O - rings. The leak in my softener was a small drip coming out of the outlet side which seems like a common situation. There must be an issue with the design causing this. Anyway, it was an easy swap and I guess it saves me from purchasing an entire unit which would cost many hundreds of dollars more. I had a whirlpool that failed, bought a Rheem that I could plug in. The 2 valves that I had leaked. One on the right, other on the left. I was so annoyed and threw a hail Mary to buy this. Perfect replacement that fit both and no leaks. Remember to de pressure the hoses by turning off your water and running everything. It helps to unlock the clips without breaking them ... show more

Our water softener had been leaking for a while. The unit had been in place long before we moved into our house but it worked okay. However, that leak bothered me. So, I purchased this set and it fit perfectly. Be sure to use the Teflon tape where it’s required. Those old clips were a bear to get off but once removed, installation of the new u it was a snap. I did get an experienced plumber to replace it just to make sure I wouldn’t get leak. I have a Kenmore (Sears) water softener. Obviously, Sears is out of business. They have a home repair department but they said they had no one in the area and hung up. I went to Lowes to look at a new water softener and noticed the valve was almost identical to the one on mine. So I got on Amazon and found this valve. he description was very helpful. There was a comment about 5 sides or 5 holes which is what I had.on mine. I bought it, put it next to the old one and it matched perfectly.     • Perfect fit replacement for my 15 year old Kenmore water softener...
Old part had begun to leak around the lower threads... Bought this replacement (eventually), and swapped it out in 15 minutes. Taped up the threads for the joint to the water inlet, and NO LEAK. Still dry after 2 weeks.

    • Fit my whirlpool water softener perfectly
My whirlpool water softener is now five years old, went to use the bypass valve to shut the water from it so I could clean the parts and it leaked water everywhere. Ordered this to replace the old part and then dismantle the original bit to replace the o rings. It went on perfectly and didn't leak, upon inspection of the original the o rings had worn needing replacement. good to know you can get these parts. Just remember to turn the water off to the softener supply line before doing this work, gets messy real quick if you forget. ... show more
