I am in love with this mower! I've always admired push reel mowers from a distance, but didn't commit sooner. At only $100, this is an easy way to jump into using a cool tool! I didn't bother checking the set up (since I initially didn't know how), I assembled it and set the height to the max height, and away I went mowing! You do have to take a few passes (2-4) to ensure everything has been cut consistently, but if you mow more frequently to avoid letting your grass grow as much, that will get easier. I've done weekly mows so far and see that it'd be easier if I was more frequent. Cut height: I haven't measured it yet, but it's definitely not as tall as a regular push rotary mower. I'd guess somewhere around 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" at the max height. I have plenty of weeds and other ground coverings mixed in my lawn, but it wasn't an issue. I did catch acorns in the blade a few times lol. The main shortcoming is that if you cut taller grass or weeds, the front guard will fold them over and they won't get to stand up in time to be cut. So I did need to supplement with a weed whacker the 1st time I tackled my neglect backyard. Since then, it's been fine. Great exercise, and I can easily use one handed if I like. I did look up maintenance and tips videos after using it a couple of times. I'm now less intimidated by the sharpening/tuning process. I'll try lubricating it and seeing if that somehow makes it even better. It is sharp enough to give clean cuts right out of the box, but could be sharper. I don't bother with the grass catcher as I think of grass clippings as free fertilizer.

I am a huge fan of reel mowers. They give such a better cut than a rotary mower does when sharp. In the past, I have had a couple of Great States reel mowers that I have loved and did my best to maintain until I had to move and the wife said they weren’t coming with. One went to my old neighbor and one went to a relative. I had thought seriously about buying the Fiskars one that looks very nice, but I just never got around to it. When I saw this one pop up on Vine, I was definitely game to check it out! I’ll start off by saying that this in no way competes with a Great States mower. It isn’t as heavy or as refined in operation, and those are two things that are a must with any reel mower because weight keeps the mower on the ground and the smoothness of the cutting action makes it much more enjoyable to use. However, this isn’t as bad as one would think. It does have some heft to it and the cutting action feels a bit more crisp than one would think. That might change as it gets worn in, though. It cuts perfectly and leaves nicely clipped remains behind in the catcher assembly. Speaking of catcher assembly, I was pretty shocked that the clippings actually go in t e catcher almost completely. That is something I can give this the edge over the Great States mowers because their catcher does not catch nearly enough clippings in it compared to what you cut and actually keeps it in the catcher, unlike the Great States ones, and that’s a really good thing! I love Great States mowers, but their catchers are pretty rubbish! All in all, I am really looking forward to when I can actually use this more. What I did cut was leftover dormant Bermuda grass that cut cleanly, but wasn’t very plentiful to cut right now. Maybe in another month or two, we’ll see the grass go green again. But for now, just this little test impressed me enough to write an initial review. I will update if my impressions change, but I’m pretty happy with it now. It ain’t a Great States or a Fiskars, but it is pretty dang good and gets done what it is supposed to.

Ordered this for mowing around my raised garden beds, fruit trees & berry bushes. Our big zero turn doesn't fit everywhere and I wanted a simple solution that didn't need gas or batteries. It's winter now so hopefully it'll work as hoped. My husband put it together fairly quickly & easily. It looks sturdy. I like the removable bag but it doesn't fold up onto the mower so if you remove it you need to stash it somewhere. $100 seems reasonable enough.

I really like this 16 inch push mower. I am really impressed. It is lightweight, easy to maneuver and cuts grass well. It’s perfect for a small yard like mine. This would be too much for an average or large lawn. It would take too long. It was easy to assemble and shouldn’t require maintenance. Thicker grass or weeds are a bit difficult, but for the size and weight it’s a solid choice. I would highly recommend this for anyone that has a small yard and wants a mower with no maintenance issues.
