The Ariens 52" Zero Turn mower is celebrated by many for its impressive features and robust performance. Users have particularly praised its ability to handle large volumes of leaves, its comfortable and adjustable seat for all sizes, and the addition of convenience features like a USB plug. However, a few voiced concerns over quality control issues like deck vibration and assembly mishaps, which were significant enough for some customers to return the product. Overall, it seems well-regarded for its cutting capabilities, especially on larger properties with challenging terrains.

Pros

  • 🔧 Easy adjustment and comfort for users of all sizes
  • 🌳 Exceptional performance on leaves and large yards
  • 🚜 Durable build with convenient features such as a USB plug
  • 💡 Good headlights for night use and adjustable mowing levels

Cons

  • 🔩 Potential assembly issues, leading to operational mishaps
  • 📦 Delivery and post-sales support could impact user satisfaction negatively

Should I Buy It?

If you own a large property and need a powerful, feature-rich mower that can handle a variety of terrains and large volumes of leaves, the Ariens 52" Zero Turn is a strong contender. However, be aware of potential quality control issues like deck vibration. It could be beneficial to purchase from a retailer with strong post-sales support in case of issues. Analyzing your own needs and the probability of facing these cons will guide your decision.

  • I’m one happy customer
I was a bit skeptical about buying a big mower sight unseen. But after a bit of research on the Google machine, I decided to take the plunge. First..it arrived two days ahead of time! Second… it was wrapped and secured very nicely on a pallet, with the pre delivery inspection already done. It was filled with oil, and the seat safety was plugged in. The battery needed connected, of course. Third…getting it off the pallet was easy! Just raise the deck and back it off slowly! Fourth..I love the handles! Easy to adjust for your height. I’m a big dude (6’1”, 300 lbs) and I was able to get them right where I wanted them quite easily. They also had textured rubber grip handles, as many others have a foam rubber type grip. Fifth…this thing is a BEAST!!! I have a lot of leaves that have already fallen and this chewed right through them! Guess who isn’t taking this year…..this guy!!!! Sixth..the seat is comfortable and adjustable forward and back. Again…important for us husky fellas. Seventh…a pretty decent set of headlights on the rare occasion that I use it at night…which I did tonight. Eighth…it’s got a freaking USB plug by the cup holder with a slot to put your phone!!!! If you can’t tell, my initial reaction is over the moon happy with this!!! Oh and at $3999, it’s not a bad deal on a quality mower with a fabricated deck! ... show more

  • Beware of deck vibration!
I really wanted to like this mower. I bought it at one of the big box stores because I needed one NOW. I loved the deck layout and construction and the fact that it had 4, not 3 deck mounting points. My yard is a little bumpy and that helps to keep the deck level and the cut smooth. The Kawasaki motor was also what I was looking for as I had bad experiences with Kohler and Briggs in the last 15 years. When I got this home I checked the oil, added gas and looked everything over and thats when I noticed the first problem. The rear bumper around the engine was missing both bolts that attach it on the left side. This is NOT Ariens fault because that is assembled at the store, so that one is on Lowe's. No big deal, I added some bolts and lined everything up correctly and bolted it all down. Money! I then started the mower and let it run for a minute or two at a high idle and looked around for leaks (fuel, oil etc). No leaks, nothing rattling good to go. I jumped on the mower, raised it to 3/4 throttle and engaged the deck, then went to full throttle. THIS is the reason I returned it. The amount of vibration coming from the deck once it was engaged would rattle the fillings in your teeth. I could feel it in my eyeballs. I shut the deck down, got off and had my brother get on it. I removed the flip up floor panel so I could see the deck and had my brother engage it. The pulley on the idler/tensioner was bouncing back and forth almost an Inch and a half the entire time the deck was engaged. After only 30 seconds of running we shut the deck down and the belt was VERY warm to the touch. We loaded it right back in to the truck and took it back and got one that rhymes with Zoro. I liked the features of this mower and really wanted to keep it, but I need a mower at my house to mow, not in the shop trying to figure out why the deck tries to vibrate itself apart. ... show more

  • Piece of crap
Received the mower brand new on pallet. Pallet was crushed, delivery guy set it behind my truck blocking me in. I had to get 5 friends to help lift it off the pallet. Did exactly as the instructions stated but the mower will not even turn over. Jacks Small Engines asked me to take it in for repair. Are they kidding me? After $4300 it should not have to be taken in for repair. I'm handicapped and have no way to take it in. I had to dispute payment on my credit card and am looking for another. Jacks Small Engines have done nothing to help. The manager will not even call me back. Stay away from the Ariens, no good service and no good mower. ... show more

  • Built like a tank
Great zero turn mower. Did not buy thru Amazon but thru DeWinne in San Antonio. Price was also less than thru Amazon.by about a thousand bucks. Purchased in 2022. This more has been terrific for me as I have nearly 4 acres to mow. The multiple mowing levels are a big plus.......easy to change when needed and accurate. Ariens is built by Gravely and have the same solid construction. My only issue is I have about 150 trees on my property.......big oak trees and when not being careful I will inadvertently back the left side of the deck into a tree and this is because my previous zero turn mowers were a maximum of 48" and I think the Ariens added the 4 inches to the left side of the mower and not being used to that, I will on occasion bump into a tree. But that is my issue, not an issue with the mower. I think the guy who wrote a review and gave the mower a 1 due to vibrations should have given the Ariens another shot as the problem may have been a misrouted drive belt. But only he could make that decision. To say I highly recommend the Ariens 52" Zero Turn mower is an understatement. And as my friend and small engine repair guy advised...........be sure to get a Zero Turn with a Kawasaki engine. I took his advice and that was another reason I bought the Ariens. ... show more

  • best mower for the dollar
I bought my Ikon 52 through ace hardware but still worth a review. Very good on hilly slops but go slow down hill as turning might be comprimised. Starts and runs very well, fairly quiet and meneuvesr great. Comfortable for long hours. 20 inch rear wheels grab well on slops. Deck is quiet and seems strong enough for residental work. good warrantee and cuts the grass level and clean. Steering can be agressive and cause grass scuffing if you do tight turns at higher speeds. Surprisingly has better traction than a Sears lawn tractor with a 52 inch deck. All in All I think for the near $4000 its a better value than anything in its price range. I think with the improvements Ariens has made it's the best zero turn for under $5g. ... show more
