  • This mower is my 7th EGO piece of equipment! No more gasoline!!
The mower arrived fully assembled with the exception of having to insert the metal frame into the grass catcher bag which took less than two minutes. After charging the batteries, it was ready to go. What I like about this mower: 1. The mulching is incredible. I make sure the grass is not wet and I'm only cutting about 1 1/2 inches off the blade of grass and I can't even see the clippings it mulches it so well. And, contrary to popular belief, mulching is not what creates thatch and mulching is a great way to return nutrients to the soil. If you want to bag the grass, just pull out the mulching insert and attach the bagger. It also comes with an insert that allows you to side discharge the clippings without a bag. 2. The self propelled operation works incredibly well. It is rear wheel driven and has a variable control so you can adjust it to your walking speed. The handle to activate the drive wheels is ergonomically designed making it simple to use. 3. I can mow my 1/2 acre yard effortlessly in 60 minutes and still have 1/4 battery charge remaining! What I don't like about this mower: ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING!! IT'S GREAT!! This mower is an upgrade from my EGO push mower as I now need the self propelling feature. At first I thought it was pretty expensive at $700, but I save $157 a season in gas so it will pay for itself in less than 5 years and I'm helping the environment! I am so impressed with the ergonomic engineering of all my EGO equipment. Powerful, well balanced and easy to use. While EGO batteries are interchangeable, I recommend you get the two batteries (5 amp) and charger that comes with the mower. You need that extra amperage for the proper power level and duration. I was glad I did! ... show more

  • EGO excels!
The EGO LM2242SP electric mower is another high quality EGO product. We already have EGO’s blower, hedger and weed eater. Immediate start up and runs very quiet. Even with two onboard batteries, the mower is lighter than our previous gas engine mower. Stores upright saving space. Tip: Before using it for the first time, I stand it upright and wax the underside and blade. The car wax leaves a smooth finish and prevents any grass build up. ... show more

  • Efficient, powerful battery-powered lawn mower
This electric battery-powered mower replaces a SunJoe mower that died. This lawnmower is much more powerful and efficient. It was very easy to put together out of the box, with minimal assembly. While the instructions' images could be clearer (true for virtually every product coming from China), I figured out how to operate it and was quickly in business. I now have used it for over a month and can say it's a reliable, efficient machine. It's fairly heavy and requires some force to turn on hills and curves (which I have on my front lawn), but the self-propelled feature makes the overall job much easier and faster. The batteries hold enough charge for me to cut my lawn 4 to 5 times before having to recharge--a big upgrade from the SunJoe single battery which barely lasted a single cut. The unit runs fairly quietly for a powerful machine. I like that no mulching bag is required (though it comes with one as well as a side chute); the cuttings fall out the back and don't clog up the exit chute. Downside: I have not yet had to remove and sharpen the blade, but that's something that should be explained much more clearly with graphics, and as a result I have to ask a friend who's very handy with this kind of stuff to assist me, and I have to purchase new tools to do this--it would be a much better value if the unit came with all the tools necessary to do maintenance. For that I would have given the overall score 4.5 stars, not 5. ... show more

  • Ego gets the job done!
I bought the 21 inch self-propelled version after much back and forth between this and a Greenworks model. Glad I settled on the EGO. The mower is lightweight and easy to maneuver even without the SP and I find myself not even using the SP at times. The cut is good but with a catch - more on that later. If you are minimally competent in using yard tools, then using this should be very intuitive even without reading the manuals. The charger is noisy but its because of the fan and charges quickly. I have yet to have my batteries drain below 3 bars during mows with short, tall, dry and wet grass - and mix in some leaves for good measure. The SP speed adjustment is great and I love the vertical fold position for storage. The bag is great as is the mulch plug. The side discharge is kind of wonky but I will never use it anyway. Here is the only negative I have experienced to date. The power is great, however the blade the mower comes with provides very poor lift. Lift is important to not only grabbing leaves and clippings to bag them, but also to pull grass blades up for a clean and even cut. After being dismayed at the lack of lift as evidenced by leaves being left behind, I immediately bought the high lift blade. What a difference! Both blades do an exceptional job of dicing grass blades which means smaller pieces in the bag which means less time spent emptying a full bag. Who knew that a $20 blade would make this thing complete. And there is my gripe. This blade retails for about $20 - which means EGO can produce it for a fraction of that landed cost. For a mower that is roughly several hundred dollars in cost, you would think that EGO could afford to include this high lift blade along with the standard blade. But...I suppose there would be no upsell opportunity. In any case, I highly recommend this mower assuming you get the high lift blade (which was changed out in 3 minutes). Time will tell how the batteries and mower hold up. ... show more

  • EGO lawnmower is great
My husband loves his new electric, self-propelled lawnmower. It cuts his mowing time, and he is very pleased with the length of battery life.

  • Extremely easy to use.
I bought this to replace my beloved 18 year old gas Honda mower. I have no idea what possessed me to buy an electric mower, I own the ego carbon shaft trimmer and loved it first use. Mower arrived and within 40 min batteries charged and mower assembled and I was mowing. STRANGE STRANGE STRANGE! It's very quiet, I can hear the blade cutting the grass and the blade fan and that's it. It's light weight, I was concerned, compared to the Honda It's built like a toy but I realized it doesn't need to be heavily over engineered, it's not carrying a heavy motor that generates high temps and it doesn't need to be gas and oil resistant. I was concerned about battery life, I am just shy a horse acre, look it up, but it handles the whole yard on a single charge. It cuts very nicely and bags the trimmings very efficiently, even damp grass. Immediately following mowing I can tilt the mower without spilling gas or oil and give a quick spray to clean any grass, I collapse the handle in less than 10 sec and store the mower in a stand up position, takes almost no room at all. If I were to force a nit pic the bag is a little small but makes sense, heavy bag drags battery life down, it's not annoyingly small, just smallish. Long term concerns. 1. Battery life, cheaper to buy a new mower with two batteries than 2 batteries alone, hopefully the price will come down in time and 2. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not change batterie design thereby making my mower obsolete. I'm extremely satisfied, tough to give up the roar of a gas motor but time marches on. ... show more

  • EGO's "Power beyond belief" tag line? It's true...
This mower uses two (2) batteries to extend mowing time and provide plenty of power for mowing tall grass. My old Ryobi mower would clog constantly because it didn't have enough power to throw the grass from under the mower deck, and the electric motor would stall when mowing tall grass. I finally had enough of that Ryobi mower, and ordered this EGO mower as a replacement. No more grass clogging the exit chute, no more stalling in tall grass, and this EGO's twin battery system last MUCH longer than the old Ryobi's batteries ever did. Easy assembly - it's already assembled (just remove the plastic wrap protecting the mower blade before using). The hard part was getting it out of the EGO shipping box, due to the styrofoam packing not wanting to slide out of the box. The self-propelled drive handle is of the right, and I'm still getting used to it. I tend to let go of the safety bar that spans the top of the mower handle (instead of the self-propelled handle on the right), and the whole mower shuts off instead of just the self drive. No worries - I'll get used to it eventually. I am very happy with this mower. ... show more

  • 3 cuts later it won’t start
I bought this mower this past spring to upgrade from the Battery charged Scott mower I bought several years ago. I used it for three cuts this year and it did a great job and stayed charged through the whole cut. On my 4th cut of the year it would not start. I called the company and went through the whole trouble check process and the agent finally said it would have to be looked at by a participating dealer near me. The nearest dealer is over 20 mins from my house. So I took the mower there dropped it off and the dealer at ACE hardware and they told me its at least a month wait because they were so backed up with fixing other models. This told me there must be a problem with this product for them to be so backed up. Its over a month now and ACE hardware told me they are getting to my mower next to look at and they would contact me to what needs to be fixed and how long it will take. I have been using my old Scott mower that I don’t get a full cut with two batteries I have to cut as much as I can and charge that batteries for about an hour to finish my cut. Im about to do what I tried to avoid and buy a new cheap gas mower as a back up. The only positive thing I can say about ego is they have a easy system to use the warranty. I am not happy with the product. Why buy a Mercedes I can’t drive. ... show more
