  • Happy After 14 Months
I bought these clippers for my Labradoodle in June of 2023. I groomed him yesterday and they are working very well. I have purchased other clippers that lasted barely a few months. I am amazed to see those clippers get great reviews. It's like ranking a car right after a test drive. I am looking for clippers just for my dogs face. I am going to search for Wahl products. I suggest passing on clippers with weird sounding product names. They tend to be junk. It's tough finding grooming tools of any kind that last. My experience is this product does the job. ... show more

  • Definitely Works on Thick Hair and Mats
I was dubious that anything would cut through my senior King Charles' mats - especially a cordless trimmer - but this actually worked. My dog had #2 mats around his backside and matting under his chin due to drooling from dental disease. First, he was bathed and all mats worked through as much as possible with copious amounts of conditioner (cheap, human, brand) and a good brush, then I tackled everything with the #1 guard. He is pretty docile buy still gave me the stink eye when I went after the mats. Then I took the guard off and shaved him down to the skin. My beautician skills are awful, but he lost about 10 lbs of fur and seems happier despite the razor burn (my fault), so it was worth it. The trimmer ran for a solid hour off the initial charge. I cleaned the blades 3x during the job. They never once got too warm in my hands and seemed a bit quieter than my old corded ones. My dog is super passive and accustomed to professional grooming (pre-covid), so he doesn't mind the sound, but I would think it would be tolerable to a more anxious dog if introduced properly/slowly. I found the trimmer to be less heavy than my old corded ones, also. I've only used them once, but the initial cost already cost less than a professional grooming, so they are worth the money, no matter how many (or few) uses I get out of them. The set came with #1 - #4 guards, blade cleaning brush/tool, charger, blade cover, blade oil, scissors, and instructions within a cheap, plastic, case. I oiled the blades and charged the trimmer according to the instructions before use and cleaned the blades according to the instructions after use. Hopefully, these will last for many uses. Update: These are still doing a great job at cutting! I think I have used them 4 times since my initial review, and the blades are still sharp. I will update again after more uses. One caveat: I left the trimmers on the back porch, and the blades rusted from the humidity. I disassembled the blade to clean and oil them, and this allowed me to clean a lot of hair out of the motor housing area. I would recommend checking that area after every use and thoroughly cleaning it. Don't be me. Don't neglect that area and laugh in the face of Florida's wet summers. Update 2: These are still going strong! My one issue is that the blade gets a little warm (like almost 1 hour into it), which he doesn't like on low-hair areas like his tummy, but this is only because it takes me so long to groom him. I've just learned to do it faster by getting more experienced, but the clippers are still sharp and haven't lost power. To be sure, though, I have followed the care instructions, except for that 1 time mentioned above. ... show more

  • Easy to hold and use
I really liked how this cutter feels in my hands. Light weight and very low sound/vibration. The main reason I also chose this one was because of the Wahl name and the metal blades. But I don’t like how it cuts. I have a shihtzu and it just doesn’t work well on his hair. It doesn’t cut smooth nor even. I have to go back and forth to get the hair lifted and cut. My old cutter wasn’t that way. But it wore out. I’m no professional but I did a decent job before. Now it looks bad. I’m disappointed to say the least. ... show more

  • Good for people who can't afford $400 clippers
This is the second set of Wahl I've purchased to trim my Shihtzus. One has thick hair, the other has thick and coarse hair. They are my rescued babies...and they don't do so well at the local groomer's. SO I am having to learn to do it myself, to keep them from being nervous. These clippers are great - you just can't go very fast. Good thing they hold a charge well. I do recommend NOT using them around the dog's head, though. They are a bit loud. Clacky. But one of my babies doesn't mind it as much as the other one does. And always use the guard when you're around sensitive areas. Even if you're extremely careful, it's easy to nick them without the short guard on it. Wahl has always been a great brand, and the last pair lasted 3 years - it was my fault, I think, that they died. I left them plugged in all the time. This pair specifically says not to. I recommend them for the dogs - and for your hubby's hair if his barber is shut down due to Covid. They work good for that, too. lol ... show more

  • Worked great until it didn’t
I purchased this on July 2, 2023. It was used about once every 6 weeks since purchased and worked great the first few uses. It has been thoroughly cleaned after each use, oiled when needed, and used according to instructions. It still holds a charge and turns on properly, although it is a bit louder than previously. Unfortunately, the product is no longer cutting my Bernedoodle’s hair. When used, only a very small amount of hair, if any, is cut with each pass. I reached out to Wahl regarding the warranty a couple months ago and have gotten nowhere. I’ve gotten auto responses that the issue will be addressed, to no avail. It’s unfortunate because the product worked well but all too briefly for the price. ... show more

  • They're OK
These clippers got the job done, but I had to make several passes at times to get it to cut hair properly. My dog doesn't have thick or matted hair and I had to clean and oil the blade frequently and even then, it struggled at times to cut the hair. And this was only after one use. I'm concerned that the functionality will only get worse after using them a few times and the blade starts to dull. You're probably getting what you pay for with these clippers -- a budget option delivering budget results. It'll get the job done, but you're going to have to be patient and work a little harder than you would with more of a premium clipper. ... show more
