I was very leery to buy these, as the reviews were not the greatest and it was the same complaint over and over. A professional groomer recommended these as they donated a pair to the local shelter. Even with that I was on the fence because of the number of negative reviews, and without warning my husband pushed buy now, and just like that they were on their way. I needed a strong, well made set of clippers for my Pyrenes/poodle mix. They arrived on time, and I put them on the charger and waited for them to be fully charged. The same night I was able to try them out. All I can say is WOW! I had no idea just how much fur he had, there were times I felt like I was shearing a sheep, mind you I have never done that. They glided through his fur like butter, blades were very sharp, so easy to use and yes the battery makes it little bottom heavy, but not to the point that I wouldn't recommend. Honestly if I hadn't read that on a review I don't think I would have even noticed. It had been several months since he was last groomed and after I finished for the night the clippers were still over 90% charged. When you first turn them on there is a slight delay before they actually turn on, but they are quiet. They never heated up or over heated and yes these are expensive, but for my needs they are a great value for the money. If I can save over $100 every couple of months by skipping his grooming trips and these continue to work as they did the first time I will have saved money within the first year. ... show more

I have the original ZR and it was fabulous for 8 years - finally died so got this upgraded version and its almost identical but cuter due to the special design on the shaver and I am confident it will last many years as well

When the battery works I love the power and convenience of cordless, battery doesn't last long,the charger will tell you its fully charged but when you go to use it, halfway thru a dog it will indicate low battery then shut off. I thought buying 2 different batteries for this model so I can see which one is better both does the same.just frustrating because I've only had the clipper and 2 extra batteries for 2 months. It is heavier on the wrist, so I dont just use this clipper thinking that too would help extend battery life but it hasn't. Im groom 5 to 6 dogs a day and alternate my clippers and im disappointed in Andis for the cost of the clippers and how long the last before you have to replace batteries. And even then the newer batteries dont last long either. And the charger for them sucks. ... show more

Works well. Pricey but it’s an investment piece. We groom our 3 poodles at home every 6 weeks. Easy to use. Noise level isn’t bothersome. Battery works well, but we bought a spare battery to make sure we never run out of battery life while mid project. Definitely recommend buying Andis blades — we find that the off brand blades make for more noise. They do get hot after using for a while so make sure keep extra blades and cooling spray on hand. ... show more

I bought one of the first zr2 on the market, it was glitchy like all of them but once we got to know eachother , we vibed well. 6 batteries and a charger later (I groom 7 days a week and 3 different locations on public trans my stuff takes a beating) a nasty fall shorted the switch, which is the glitchy part to begin with. 4 years of reliability though... the clipper was worth the $699 it cost originally. I used to blow through a corded clipper a year to the tune of 300+. It was no question which clipper I was replacing it with while the switch gets replaced on my old one. When i started grooming i was so excited to save money and buy this clipper. When i finally was able to afford it, the clipper was working great until it wasn’t… 2 months after the purchase the battery clipper died and it couldn’t charge anymore. Since my warranty was over i had to sell it for parts. Now 3 years later they have this version which you can detach the battery at least so i went ahead and bought and guess what… SAME thing happened, and this time within the month of purchase and when i asked for a replacement, at least a battery replacement (not the whole thing) they took their sweet time to send me return label and now they are saying my window for a return is over…. Wow .. it is a tricky way of getting that warranty money out of you. I at least have to only find a battery replacement this time cause this version allows it, but still to go all this trouble for a $300 clipper that you would expect TOP quality is insane, there’s other fantastic clippers in the market save your money, i honestly just wanted to give them another chance. ... show more

The welds in the battery that attach the cells to the bms are too weak for a grooming clipper that will ultimately get knocked from your hands to the floor. The clippers always survive but the battery is another story. If you are open to having to replace the battery they will get you by.
