Runs very quiet, I did see some noise complaints when I was looking into this product, but I find it to be very quiet especially when transitioning from off to on with the thermostat. I literally have it on my nightstand and I can barely hear it, my computer has louder fans. Puts off good deal of heat of course winter is the real test but currently it's on low and it bumps up 75 to 78° in a very short amount of time in master bedroom. Bought this to be used as an emergency heater during power failures, run off my backup generator. Yet now will also use when power is on to cut back on main heater costs. This is a little power house and will heat up a decently sized room rather quickly. Top quality and far better constructed than much cheaper plastic heaters. I love my Vintage Style Vornado fan so I figured I’d splurge on the heater and I am so glad I did. It seemed a bit expensive but after buying multiple others that just didn’t do a good job, I gave in. We bought it specifically to help save from running the whole house heat in the colder months since we have a large house. Heat: This thing heats up a room like no other heater I’ve ever had. It heats the room up fast but never seems to get overly hot like many others I’ve used. It seems to maintain a nice consistent temperature in the room which keeps it nice and comfortable. I usually only need to use it on low for a fairly large bedroom. It works so nicely that we bought a second for the guest room. Noise: On the low setting it is so quiet that I am never sure it’s even on. When used on high you can hear the fan more but it’s still an acceptable level of noise and much quieter than any other heater I’ve had. Look: It looks great with our vintage furniture and 1966 home. I love the look of it and often get compliments on how it fits right in. The only irritation I have is how bright the light is on it. It brightens up an entire room. I am considering ways to cover the light so it’s not so irritating though. Because this heater is great in every other way. ... show more

I got this for my over air conditioned office. I like that you have a variety of settings. The low is very quiet. The high is a little louder, but not intrusive. It turns off if it is knocked over which is a nice safety feature. I have had a number of vornado products and they never disappoint.

Sometimes it makes me wonder how some people have great experiences with products, and others don't. We've had the Vornado Vintage Metal Heater for over a year and it is quiet and efficient. We use it in a 27' travel trailer, which is like a small room so the usage doesn't compare to someone with a large bedroom and high ceilings, but in an RV it works great! This little guy gets stored during travel and pulled out on nights when it's down in the 30's to upper 40's. It will not heat up the trailer quickly if it's already freezing inside, but will retain the temp once the furnace gets things warmed up. Basically, it helps to cut back on propane use when you have shore power available for your RV. On the high setting you'll find it can get too warm. The simple thermostat knob will get it dialed in to keep you comfortable. This fan works very well to meet our needs. ... show more

We have Vornado fans and wanted to match the look with the similar heater. It's huge! It heats up the room well but man does it use a lot of energy, even for a couple of hours. I bought this for my office, which is a 10' x 10' drafty room with windows on three sides. The Vornado is excellent at keeping the room warm with out having to turn up the heat in the entire house. However, it's no blast furnace and I would not recommend it for a large room, but it's perfect for my circumstance. On low, it's whisper quiet. On high, it's a tad noisy, but nothing offensive (and must better than my old space heater). And, of course, it looks great. ... show more
