  • Great batteries, excellent customer support
We have been using 3 of these as the house battery bank for our 4x4 type-2 ambulance conversion. Before we installed them in our battery box, I dropped one out of the ambulance right onto its corner. It chipped off a small piece of plastic, and I wanted to make sure they were still safe to use, as I have very little experience with AGM batteries. I contacted VMax Tanks directly with some photos of my blunder, and they were extremely helpful, reassuring me that the battery was safe to use, while advising that I seal the chip to prevent long term loss of moisture and potentially decreased life. Top notch support. Our setup: The 3 battery bank is currently hooked up to a Renogy 40A charge controller on the *sealed acid battery* setting, which best matched the recommended charging rates. It's also connected to the old Xantrex FleetPower 2000 charger/inverter that came with the unit, which we left on its "flooded battery" setting, since it is much closer to the target charging rates than its "gel battery" setting, and never attempts to equalize the batteries without manual intervention (which should NEVER be done to AGM batteries). It is also capable of receiving charge from our dual alternators (through an isolator) which is regulated at a constant 14.3 volts. We can manually disconnect the batteries from the isolator, which is important in the very unlikely scenario that we seriously drain the house batteries (beyond what we ever should) and need to drive before the solar has had time to recharge the house batteries at all. With a low internal resistance, deeply discharged AGM's are subject to charging more rapidly than their ratings if placed on a charger that is only voltage regulated and capable of supplying more current than the bank's max charging current (our banks is charge-rated at 90A total, while our alternators are capable of delivering 220A). ... show more

  • Great capacity, use a high quality charger for best results
Looked at a lot of different batteries before settling on this one. Installed it as an auxiliary battery in my overlanding vehicle and hooked it to a 30 amp dc/dc charger. It's super heavy but I expected it to be. At 125Ah capacity it has one of the largest capacities of similar sized units. I really liked that the manufacturer clearly stated the charging parameters on their website for this battery so I could set up my charger accordingly. Been using it for a couple of months including a couple of camping trips with my dometic powered cooler running for a few days and other items running of a 2000 watt inverter I have hooked up to it. The battery has not complained once and charges right back up. I love it. I'm sure that charging at the correct voltages for the different phases of charging (bulk, absorption, and float) will help with overall battery health and longevity. I would not recommend charging this battery with a basic battery isolator. Use something with smart circuitry and preferably something that allows you to program the charging parameters. ... show more

  • Great Battery and Super Awesome Seller! I WILL BE ORDERING MORE!
Great Battery and Super Awesome Seller! I WILL BE ORDERING MORE! Had a problem with the delivery address listed through Amazon, and they quickly fixed it for free! Got the battery in just 4 days! SUPER FAST SHIPPING, THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm using this as a second battery in my RV. My friend has the same one in his RV from 2 years ago and its still going strong. To get the most out of this battery, use the PAC BG-12 and a relay to shut down any equipment your running. It will prevent over draining the battery by cutting power at 11.6 volts and has a LED to warn you of low voltage. Secondly when storing your RV, or whatever your using the battery in, disconnect the negative side cable AND get a cheap float charger. If your not using it, don't just leave it hooked up to stuff. It will slowly drain it. Kinda like when you leave the batteries in that emergency flashlight. Then when you need it, it doesn't work. When you go to replace the batteries, they are all crusty. That's why. DON'T store stuff with batteries in them! DO NOT OVERCHARGE or DEEPLY DISCHARGE THESE BATTERIES AND THEY WILL LAST FOR YEARS. If charging with a AC 110V household type charger, make sure its a SMART DIGITAL charger. Solar charging systems usually already have this built in. Automotive alternators are also okay to use as long as its not completely dead (9 volts or less) If it is deeply discharged then use a AC smart charger to revive it. REGULAR OLD FASHIONED CAR BATTERY CHARGERS WILL KILL THESE BATTERIES. SAME GOES WITH THE OPTIMA BATTERIES. One of the reasons they have gotten a bad reputation. Any AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery needs to be treated differently than the regular lead acid batteries. This one is a heavy sob 75lbs. so with FREE SHIPPING, you can't beat the price. Sorry, no more Trojans or Optimas for me, VMAX is my new goto battery. ... show more

  • recharges my electric ego lawn mower via 100watt solar panel!
i got no power in my garage outlets, bought this for emergency but shortly after, i realized i do use it.. got 1 125ah battery and 1 1,500watt inverter rolling with a 100watt renogy solar panel.. but i only use small stuff like a 200watt ego lawn mower battery charger (slower charger).. if 100% charged, will charge 2 5.0ah batteries and 1 2.5ah battery.. but does drain battery to 12.1 volts then takes a few days to charge up fully.. we need more sun in new york ! lol, im not sure if thats damaging the battery or not going down to 12.1 volts, but i do plan to order another 125ah battery so that i dont drain to a low voltage.. im impressed!!!! 100watt renogy solar panel isnt a state of the art $20,000 panel... no its a cheap $100 panel and charges this battery that charges my ego lawn mower and actually keeps up mowing the grass no problem! i do the grass once a week but with this solar setup, i can do it easy once every 3 days! ... show more
