I bought this projector in December, 2025, after much reading and reviewing of many other projectors. I chose this projector because I specifically wanted a 4K laser projector to replace my older Epson 1060. I also chose it because I do play XBOX and this is specifically designed to work with it. I used a generic, universal mount to attach it to the cross beam, upside down, as seen in the photo. It projects onto my 100" screen. I do not have the technical details about darkness levels or anything like that. I turned it on, turned the brightness level up a little, and have not made any other adjustments to the picture. I use cinema mode all the time and the blacks look black to me while all the other colors and image details really pop. The upgrade to 4K from 1080p is noticeable. The fan is much more quiet than my Epson 1060. It is not noticeable even at lower volume levels from my soundbar. The mono speaker works fine for things that can't run through my soundbar, but it is a mono speaker without much base - which is to be expected. At the time when I purchased this in December it was lower than the current price, which I thought was great for a 4K laser projector. I've not noticed any "artifacts" or blurring or orange flashes or tints as some other reviews have noted. The projector comes on with an instantly bright picture, no warmup. I do not watch sports so I cannot say how a football or baseball game will look on it. For watching movies, TV shows and playing HALO on, I am very happy with the image quality and performance. And I’ve used it to play with my NS2 and I really enjoy the experience, I love to play at 1080 and 120Hz and I did the same with the PS5 at 1440 and 120Hz! I've had this projector for almost a month, and I really like it. I'm projecting on to a 110" screen in a dark room and am seated about 10' away. The 4K image is bright and sharp. I have an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K plugged into HDMI 1 powered by the USB port. In HDMI 2, I have a Sony BDP-S6700 Blu-ray player that up-converts 1080p to 4K. I don't use the built-in speaker. I have a 2.1 speaker system that connects directly to the Amazon stick using Bluetooth and digital coaxial from the Blu-ray player. Using some generic active 3D glasses I also purchased on Amazon, I've watched most of my 3D movie collection and have to say the experience is fantastic, an almost movie theater experience. Setup was very simple after getting it mounted to the back wall of the room. I turned it on, focused, used the manual zoom to fit the pattern image to the width of the screen. I then used the lens shift to bring the image in line with the screen vertically. Adjusting the mount I got the image as level as possible. I then manually zoomed so no edge was inside the perimeter of the screen. Using the corner adjustment in the projector menu, I was able to bring any side or corner of the image that was outside the screen edge to exactly align with the edge. I have not had to re-do this since setting it up a month ago. I keep the power setting in Eco mode and it's still plenty bright. If you use the other power mode, the fan speed clicks up a notch. I've made a few color adjustments using settings I found on the internet. And with these settings, to my eyes, the white balance looks best in the "Cold" setting. Pros: Relatively low cost for 4K, HDR, 3D. Very bright. Very sharp. Very quiet. Color is excellent. Cons: Not the best black level (black is always dark grey). Built-in speaker is very basic. A bit of "rainbow" effect can be seen if you move your eyes rapidly. ... show more

Have used this now for almost a year. The 4k vs 1080p is not visible by the naked eye. After researching the technology used to do 4k, turns out its not true 4k. Makers found a way to use 1080p chips in an interlaced way to allow them to say its native 4k when it really isn’t. Anyway, Ive tried everything including standing inches from the screen and i can’t see the difference when switching between a 4k input and 1080p. And yes, i verified the image was true 4k and 1080p. With that said, I’ve been happy with the picture and brightness overall and since its an industry standard to trick the public and all makers are doing it, i cant complain about them individually for that. ... show more

This 4K laser projector delivers vibrant colors and 3,500 lumens of brightness. After three months of use—averaging about three hours a day, three days a week—I have not noticed any degradation in picture quality. Even on a regular painted light off-white wall, I can comfortably watch movies during the day at around a 120" screen size, with standard basement blinds closed. At night, with dimmed lighting, the projector displays excellent 4K quality on the same wall in my home. I imagine it would perform even better with an ALR or higher-quality screen. Overall, this is an excellent 4K projector for its price range, especially when available with occasional discounts. I haven’t used the higher-end model, but if you have a larger budget and plan to watch 4K content in bright ambient lighting or at much larger screen sizes, consider the LS901-4K, which offers a brighter 5,500 lumens (according to the specs). That said, the LX700-4K is still very watchable in medium room lighting, though you may notice some image fading unless the lights are dimmed. Keep in mind I kept the eco mode on for prolonged projector life and did not find need to disable it for more brightness. ... show more

    • Viewsonic LX700 is worse than my Epson 2250 (1080P). Epson 3800 (4k) is the best.

UPDATE 11/6/2025: I upgraded to the Epson 3800 and it's better than both the Epson 2250 (now 5 years old with a 2 month old bulb): The 3800 is not clearer but it's way better at: 1) quieter 2) way more lens shifting in vertical. Can also do horizontal lens shifting. 3) darker areas don't look like a black blob 4) more natural color 5) better remote CON: a little bigger but not bad. ----- I have owned my Epson 2250 (1080P) for almost 4 years (replaced the bulb at 3 years when it flickered). I wanted so much to love the Viewsonic because it's 4k and laser. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough so I returned the Viewsonic. SAME: - Sitting 14' away from the 150in screen, I don't see any more sharpness/detail. - ECO mode: fan noise sounds the same. - Both have vertical shift 15 degrees PRO: - trigger input - laser life is 4x longer than lamp bulb - a few inches not as deep as my Epson - remote has back light CON: - picture color is not as good as my Epson 2250. - The 1.36x zoom is better than average but still not as good as my Epson at 1.6x zoom, so the Epson has no oversplash beyond the screen. ... show more

Compared to my previous 1080p projector, this one is very small. The colors and brightness make the picture quality great. I watched some 4k videos and then played Metroid Prime 4 at 120Hz and loved every second of looking at the picture. The throw is shorter than my previous projectors (both were older Mitsubishi). The built in speaker is not good but projector speakers never are so I won't hold it against ViewSonic. Low ambient is fine with this projector but obviously the darker the room, the better. ... show more
