  • Bright Projection Image
Style: WXGA Pattern Name: Single
Lets start off with the best feature of this relatively low cost projector.... this thing is bright! I was looking for a projector to use as a full time entertainment system with either a Roku or Fire Stick that I could use at all times of the day without needing to keep the window blinds closed and after trying another more expensive (and more portable) device I decided to try this and I'm so glad I did. The picture quality is really good and the colors are not washed out during the middle of the day with my 3 windows opened. I'm currently using this against a semi yellowish flat wall and the picture quality is really good so I can only imagine the quality will be way better when I get a projection screen. The fan is not loud and you will only hear it if you are really close to the projector or when it revs up at shutdown to cool down the lamp. The not so great about this projector is the speaker... do yourself a favor and get an external speaker you can attach via the aux port as you'll get crappy sound quality and will struggle to hear much of anything is a regular sized room. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 4 months.
Style: XGA Pattern Name: Single
This was actually a pretty good projector for what I used it for. The bulb was bright enough to use in a lit room and the resolution was great from a few feet away, but there were 2 main issues. First, there were a few spots on the lens which weren’t too noticeable when the lens was focused but it did leave a few blurred “shadows” on the picture and the sound was laughably low but that was easily rectified with a set of pc speakers. I used this maybe once a week since I got it in August and now in the beginning of December, it won’t stay on for more than a few seconds at a time. I have it connected to my Nintendo Switch and when it goes out, I can pick up the Switch and keep playing so I know it’s not an external device issue. The projector just shuts down and the red light next to the bulb icon and the heat icon start flashing red. It’s completely unacceptable to only be able to use it for a few seconds and this after having it for only 4 months. I would understand it dying if it’s been a few years, but come on... ... show more

  • Unfortunately 0/2
Style: WXGA Pattern Name: Single
The image is great, menus are intuitive and the brightness is adequate even on eco mode. We purchased the WXGA high-resolution model for my Daughter's mathematics classroom, unfortunately, Viewsonic packaged the lower quality SVGA model in a box labeled with WXGA. Amazon offered a return so we purchased another. The second one was the correct model, but the bulb began to flicker within a few hours of operation. We have arranged to return the second one once the first one is back at Amazon and the refund confirmed. We have already installed the infrastructure for this model and we like the image....but do we try it a third time? Not sure yet. ... show more

  • Great for indoor and outdoor fun!!
Style: XGA Pattern Name: Single
WOW, this really worked great. I have been researching for "outdoor models" for at least 3 weeks, and to be honest, there really wasn't one good website that really explained how projectors work. I'm still new to it myself, but we just had our 9 year old son's birthday party on Saturday, and the projector looked fantastic! It was bright enough to use it at 6pm (east coast), and looked brilliant at 8:30p and on. I was a little worried about the the light getting to hot, but the fan did its job and it never faltered! While I was researching, this model kept coming up on the list, and again, I was worried about brightness, resolution, how big I could get the picture, so I just kind of winged it and I couldn't be more happy! So here's my list of parts and extras that I bought. Of course, this model projector, a NIERBO 150 Inch Projector Screen (really only needed a 120 inch one), and a TaoTronics Bluetooth 4.1 Transmitter / Receiver, 2-in-1 Wireless 3.5mm Adapter. I built my own screen stand out of simple pine and a couple heavy posts. If you'd like more info on that, feel free to email me at gtrodgers1@yahoo.com. The screen looked great and the picture was fantastic. The TaoTronics Bluetooth receiver was so I could use my large Bluetooth speaker for the audio. It was all very simple to set up, and the party went off without a hitch. My son and his friends had a blast playing Fortnite on the XBOX One on a huge screen. Nice work ViewSonic! ... show more

  • Plan on being let down
Style: WXGA Pattern Name: Single
I purchased this projector one year ago, and just opened the box to use it for a school graduation ceremony. I ended up using the school's antiquated projector (Sharp PG-F312x), because this Viewsonic would not project bright enough on the white, screen located above the children's chairs. Later I decided to "really see" how well this Viewsonic projects within a variety of lighted settings. I brought the projector back to my classroom, and set it up 7.5-feet from a smart board. There, I projected the slideshow using the "brightest" setting, and then a standard setting. I adjusted the room lighting ranging from complete darkness (lights off, shades fully down), to full light (all three sections of lights on, shades up). I adjusted the room's lighting to in-between settings to check the manufacturer's claims. The Viewtronic is described as having very good projection in lit environments. It's also advertised as having good projection beyond 8-feet. What I found is that at 7.5-feet in a fully lit environment, it is impossible to see the projected image. Likewise, in a semi-lit environment the projection is nearly non-existent. In a fully dark environment, the image is good at best, but not super crisp and clear. (The projected image resembles a matte photo from the 1970's: a bit grainy.) Within this "best" lighting set-up, when moving the projector back beyond 8-feet I find you might as well have the audience crowd around your laptop to take turns viewing your presentation. Not a good machine at all. ... show more
