Wish I had bought this sooner! My cat is a "paw drinker" and dry food only eater so we've always worried about his water intake. He took to this fountain right away. It's great that there are several fountain options as well as light off/on so you can find the settings that your pet prefers. Extremely quiet if you follow the manufacturer instructions and clean the filter and pump regularly. The minute you start to hear the gurgling that's your signal it's time to clean the pump. We refresh the water daily, drain and wipe out the unit weekly and clean the pump every two weeks which takes all of 5 minutes each. Additonally, had a question and sent an email to customer service. I had an older version of this same fountain I bought about 2 years ago. I didn't know you could take apart the pump and clean the inside for the first 6 months probably. I tried blasting water down the pump and seeing nasty stuff coming out. This newer one includes lots of goodies/add-s that really show the company cares about their product. It includes instructions and a little brush for cleaning the pump, as well as 2 filters, and a little water proof mat for the floor. Most companies would not go to this extra effort! This really helps my small elderly dog drink water, i just got the plastic one and washed it before using, and for refill i just dump a cup of ice cubes from the fridge on it like twice a day. Easy to read gauge lets you know water level, sound and light help your elderly dog locate it. And i went five weeks before cleaning and using included replacement filter, but i was amazed at how pristinely clean it was, wven the filter. I will take a video soon and add it to this review but bottom line is it is ingenious and well-made and very practical for people with elderly pets or maybe just want to enhance the lives of their furry friends in general.
