  • Shockingly powerful!
Size: 14000 BTU (10200 BTU SACC)
This saved my summer! I bought this AC unit because our central air had gone out, leaving our apartment dangerously hot. The landlord completely ignored us all early summer, and the July heatwave was the final straw. It says 700sqft, but managed to make over 900ft feel nice and cozy. Our livingroom dropped 4 degrees in an hour, and was comfortable after 3 hrs. After a day, the entire 3br apartment was cool. Some things to note: The window panel is hard to finagle at first. Attaching it to the hose seems easy, until it's time to seal it in the window. It doesn't lock in, it just kind of barely holds it there. So when you close the window, the hose will pop out a little. Make sure you have the panel and hose sealed tight or it'll just blow hot air back into the house. If you find it isn't cooling or the temperature is suddenly rising, make sure you check on that seal. The easiest way is to hold your hand in front of the panel and move along the length to see if you feel any warm air. If you do, the panel needs to be readjusted. It moves a lot of air really fast. It is a little loud, because it's a big unit. I have to have it on sleep mode when I sleep near it, or it'll wake me up as it turns off and on. However, you can barely hear it from a room away. The sound is just the sound of fast moving air though. It doesn't vibrate or go berrrrrrrrrrrrrr like some I've used before, which is nice. It's really heavy in the box, but the actual unit has handles and wheels, making it super easy to move once unpacked. It's not going to reach through closed doors. These seems like common sense, but I definitely made the mistake of closing my bedroom door for hours (when the unit was in the living room) and the temperature jumped up FAST. It'll keep the ambient temp low, so it didn't get as hot as it would've, but make sure you keep airflow going to any place you want cool. The panel is designed for windows that are flush. If the window closes below the windowsill, you'll need something underneath to lift it up a bit. Otherwise the hose will pop out. We ended up cutting a 2×4 to put underneath it to create a flush surface. It worked like a charm! Tldr: Unit is amazingly powerful, can cool a 3bdroom apartment in 24hrs, a little loud, and is tricky to install. It's not hard, but you really have to pay attention to make sure hot air isn't coming back into the house. The panel and hose connection could definitely be more secure. Cons included, this unit still outperforms my expectations. It's 101°f outside, but 68° in here!!! ... show more

  • Mid-Range Powerhouse
Size: 12000 BTU (8350 BTU SACC)
The VAGKRI 12,000 BTU unit is designed to bridge the gap between "cheap and loud" budget units and "overpriced" premium brands. It is a workhorse for rooms between 350 and 450 sq. ft., offering a high-velocity airflow that many competitors lack. The Highlights Rapid Chill: It punches above its weight class in terms of "time to cool." It features a high-efficiency compressor that can noticeably lower room temperature in under 15 minutes. The "3-in-1" Utility: It’s an excellent dehumidifier. In "Dry Mode," it’s capable of pulling significant moisture out of the air—a feature that often works better than the cooling mode in humid "swampy" climates. User Experience: The LED display is crisp, the remote is intuitive, and the Auto-Swing louvers help distribute air evenly rather than blasting one spot until it's freezing. The Reality Check: Lifespan & Durability You can expect a 5 to 10-year lifespan, but because VAGKRI is a value-focused brand, the unit's longevity is entirely dependent on your maintenance habits: Compressor Health: The motor is the heart of the unit. To keep it from burning out in year 3, ensure the exhaust hose is as short and straight as possible. Kinks in the hose cause heat to back up into the unit. The "Storage Trap": Many of these units "die" during the winter. If any water remains in the internal reservoir during storage, it can corrode sensors or grow mold. Always use the "Fan Only" mode for 2 hours before packing it away to bone-dry the internals. Parts Availability: As a newer brand, finding a specific replacement circuit board 5 years from now may be harder than finding one for a GE or Honeywell unit. ... show more

  • UPDATED: Pain to Install then stopped working
Size: 14000 BTU (10200 BTU SACC)
Update 5/28/24 with original review below: After 7 months of back and forth in email, I have finally received a resolution. I sent a video and they were able to identify it as a panel issue. They sent a replacement panel. They had me hire an electrician that I paid for out of pocket at $155. They agreed to refund the amount. I will update the notes here if I receive a successful refund. The panel did fix the problem right away and the electrician was able to put the unit back together no problem. They sent step by step instructions with pictures for the panel replacement that were very helpful. The unit blows cold again instantly and responds to the remote as well as the touch panel. My only complaint now is that I wish it hadn’t taken this long to get a resolution. Original review: WASTE OF MONEY. BUY SOMETHING ELSE. BROKE AFTER 2 MONTHS. VAGKRI WON'T HONOR 1 YEAR WARRANTY. Stopped work after 2 months. It took forever to install it properly in our window. We had to make our own board to close the window since what they provided didn't work. We have a normal sized window. It worked great and pumped cold air but DEFINITELY not 700 square feet. It was struggling to keep one bedroom cold enough. We live in San Diego. It doesn't get that hot outside. Then, it just stopped working. Once day we went to turn it on and it is completely unresponsive. The dust cover opens then closes again when unplugged and re-plugged in. It doesn't respond to the touch controls or the remote. We bought in July 2023. Email support in November 2023. No response. Submitted a help ticket via amazon in January then finally got a response. We sent a video to Vagkri and they said it was the panel. There are no appliance repair or air conditioned repair that will work on a portable unit so nobody could help. We told them they could arrange for someone to come and fix it instead of reimbursing us for it but they just stopped responding. We just submitted to Amazon for their warranty team to investigate and provide us a full refund. WASTE OF MONEY. BUY SOMETHING ELSE. ... show more

  • Pretty Bad
Size: 12000 BTU (8350 BTU SACC)
So to start this, the product does its job. It cools, and does well at that. The issue that I have with this unit is number one, the window attachment is extremely poorly made. I had to use tape just to get a halfway decent seal on anything. Even with weather stripping. The exhaust valve on the unit does not connect well with the vent either. Honestly not that big of a deal. What my main issue is, is that the unit is filling up after two hours of use causing me to have to baby sit it. The only way I can prevent this, is elevating the unit, and running a constant drip into a 5 gallon bucket. Which fills up in less than 12 hours. Which still requires me to baby sit the unit. I have a second unit in the house and have absolutely no issues whatsoever, that unit fills up after 3 weeks of use. It’s a different brand portable AC though. I have reached out to this company but they are only reachable via email it looks like, and half the website is in a different language. More than likely going to be returning this product unless I can get some assistance or replacement of broken part, whatever that may be. This is not normal behavior for a portable AC unit. If this is normal for this unit, it’s a poor excuse for one. ... show more

  • Really tickled with this.
Size: 12000 BTU (8350 BTU SACC)
I dreaded unboxing and installing this air conditioner, but we're supposed to hit 103 today, so I had to do it. I've used a portable air conditioner of another brand in my kitchen for about five years now, so I know how portable air conditioners work. This was no different -- but it does have drain holes and a siphon; my other one does not. I'm still not sure how to drain the one I already have. I installed this in the window in my bedroom where it will be a nice toasty about 95 degrees by 11 PM tonight, plugged it in, and wow. The room is COOL. Like COLD. Granted, it's 8:21 AM and we're benefiting from the overnight temps being around 63 this morning, but the room is amazingly cold. I'm looking forward to a comfortable cool night of sleeping in my bedroom tonight. A couple of interesting details: for one, my windows are big windows that slide side-to-side, and the sliders included in the package are not big enough by about six inches. There's a note on the instruction booklet that if the sliders aren't the right size, to contact them and provide your window size. I just did. We'll see how that turns out. Another interesting detail: this unit has a "sleep" mode, where the light will dim and maybe the fan speed or sound turns down a few notches -- I haven't tried that out yet. That's a nice feature. I'm just delighted with this product so far. As we speak I'm sitting in the kitchen, in front of my first portable air conditioner unit, which doesn't have near the "oomph" of the new unit. I'm seriously considering replacing it with a second Vakgri unit. Today will be a good test. I've got both A/C's going, the windows are closed in the house, the shades are drawn, it's a 1650-square-foot house, and I want to see how we make it through this 103-degree day. An update on 8/15/23: This has been just great. What a godsend to be able to sleep comfortably through the night when yesterday was our hottest day of the year so far with 113 degrees in places, and 109 degrees for the next few days. Two things about this that are awesome: the bedroom is actually COLD, even yesterday, and I have it set at 74. I could set it all the way down to 64, but that would be too cold. The other thing is that it has a "sleep" setting. The blue lights are very bright while it's on, and it's an easy thing to push the "sleep" button -- even in the dark -- and the light dims quite nicely so it doesn't bother me while sleeping. I still haven't bought the second one to replace the 5-year-old other-brand window A/C I have in the kitchen, and on days when it's 113 outside and the kitchen one seems to be struggling, I'm seriously thinking about it. I noticed that the price went up by $6 since I bought mine. :/ That wouldn't keep me from buying another one, though. ... show more

This is a great product and great value! It works great!! It is not too loud. The only complaint would be the bottom part to empty the water is not the easiest to do. It has a remote which is convenient as well

  • Helps cool smaller areas
Size: 12000 BTU (8350 BTU SACC)
Unit was purchased to replace another older, reliable unit. Older unit seemed more efficient, more effectively cooling a larger area. I have this set up in a 10x10 area to optimize the cooling effect. Unit won’t stay on or operate with the auto setting. I have to manually turn unit on and off. For a few days the lid didn’t want to open/close with remote. It’s working again, but I am not confident it will continue to properly operate in the future. connecting the tubing to the plastic AC unit is difficult. Very poor design. Once connected, all is good. Item came with all required parts. Overall design is nice, but functionality is more important. Remote is user friendly. I appreciated that the plastic window could be adjusted and did fit my smaller width window that is in a door. Perfect fit for the window and the item was easy to install. ... show more

  • Quality AC at a great price
Size: 12000 BTU (8350 BTU SACC)
I held off on getting a portable air conditioner figuring I could just sweat out the few hot days we have in summer. After several days of 90F weather and no AC, I regretted that decision so I started looking in earnest for a portable AC. I compared features and prices and this made the short list. What pushed me over the edge of indecision was the number of very favorable reviews and the fact that additional pieces for the window kit were available at no charge. So I took a chance and ordered one of these units... BEST investment ever! As soon as I ordered, I email the company's support to request the window kit extensions. They responded promptly and assured me the kit was on its way. It arrived the same day as my AC unit! That alone impressed me -- it's rare that a company's customer service department is so very responsive. I did let it sit for 24 hours after delivery to let the internal fluids settle (there's some debate on the need to do this, but I do it just as a precaution.) Once unboxed, it took just minutes to get it fully installed and ready to go. And when I turned it on... ahhhh blissful cool air. I have a small studio -- just 344 sq ft -- and this unit definitely does the trick. In fact, it actually gets cold in my apartment! I have also used it on fan-only mode and it moves a lot of air. It's perfect for days where actual cooling isn't really needed. I have not tried the dehumidifier function as I really don't need it. So... after over a month of use, I am THRILLED with this unit. I have recommended it to several friends who are looking for a good portable unit that doesn't break the bank. If you're on the fence, get this one... you'll be glad you did!! ... show more
