This unit is being used by us with an external Coolbot controller to refrigerate a walk in cooler for food storage at a place I volunteer at. I'm the maintenance person so the sale ran through me and I installed it. This is a non-standard use that probably voids the warranty. It's a way for smaller organizations like the one I'm in to have a "commercial" walk in reefer without the expense of a commercial unit. We previously had a different AC unit installed but after several years of use it finally gave up. . The take away from the above is the unit is on 24/7 and it has been serving us well for months now. If I was just using it for home use the controls seem adequate. I have tested the output air with a thermometer at right around freezing. I forget what outside ambient temperature was but it was in the summer time and I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and ambient temperature in the walk in was probably at least upper 60s because I had been working with the door open and unit off. So the unit provides a pretty good temperature drop. I'd actually like to have one of these units in my house but I don't have a 220V outlet to plug it in so for now it's my 12K 110 volt unit. ... show more

I bought the biggest AC unit that would fit in my NYC apt window. You need a bracket/support fixture. The thing makes a lot of noise (rumble) so it's not a quiet machine. There are a substantial amount of parts requiring assembly before the unit is put in place. It is heavy: three people was perfect. Two people were inside lifting the AC unit and slding it through the window. The third person was outside on the terrace guiding the unit. We were done with that part in less than three minutes. HOWEVER - I should have read the manual first. The AC unit is shipped in a sleeve that needs mounting FIRST. This is what comes from not reading the manual BEFORE installing the AC unit. Ordered this unit with “installation by Amazon” for my business Little Brow Boutique in New York when our original air conditioner died during a heatwave. The unit came one day early (no big deal) but we still had to wait for our scheduled installation which we had to wait another day. The company Amazon used literally were unprofessionals that came hours before they were due to come. They came during business hours and the unit is right above the entrance of the Boutique. Long story short, after a lot of noise and stupid comments about eyebrows the unit was installed. When it was time to plug it in, the workers never checked to see if the outlet we had would work for the unit. I also blame myself for not checking but I do lashes and brows, not air conditioners. So we hired emergency service from a local electrician to change the outlet. Once it’s changed ($300 later), we plug the ac in and it’s broken. I call Amazon they exchange the unit but I have to wait almost another week. Now it’s 85 degrees in a brow boutique. It’s miserable. Amazon told me they couldn’t come out quicker. At this point I already paid $180 for Amazon to install the unit. Another unit comes a day early. Great— I called the Amazon installation company to come in before our scheduled appointment and the man literally laughs at me on the phone (which is a cell phone not even a business line) and says he’ll call me back later. It’s now almost 90 degrees in the store and we had to cancel all of our appointments. We hired the same electricians to put up the new ac unit—AND THIS ONE IS ALSO BROKEN!!! It’s 100 degrees on Long Island today and the two units from Amazon are broken! Not only have we lost time, and been aggravated, we lost business. Now onto our third machine. $180 “professional installation by Amazon,” $300 outlet change, $300 for outside company to install Amazon’s broken ac. HORRIBLE!! If Amazon would look at how much I spend on my personal amazon, and the business amazon accounts, they would act fast but nope. NEVER AGAIN will I be using their installation service or buy large appliances from them. ... show more

I am well pleased on how well this unit cools. It's not as quiet as a side discharge, but it is not annoyingly loud either. The filter is extremely easy to get to and clean. It cools well enough to leave it on the lowest blower setting most of the time. Only on hundred degree plus days do we ever turn it up a little. And even then it will get too cold and we'll have to back it off. When I was installing the unit, it was a very tight fit. However, it was solid and well-built. I've been using an installing Window AC,S for more than 40 years. This is a heavy one. So you should secure it with extra bracing. I am experienced in installing these alone. I would recommend getting someone to help you if you're not experienced in picking these up with straps. You could severely injure your back. We've only had it for a few months so I may do another review in a few years. maybe... ... show more

Works like a charm for my She Shed 12x20, I put it on energy saver. We had a summer heat index of 98-105 for most all of July. It could cool a bigger room just as well. My husband did brace it on the outside. Easy to install.

I got this unit for my 600sqf sheed/work shop in the back of the house. The Shed/work shop is NOT Insulated. I live in Texas. This past summer it has been over 100° every day. I started off by trying out one of the portable AC Units it's was 1,400 BTU. Which should have been enough for this size space if it was insulated. I left the portable unit running for 3 days straight, it moderately helped cool but was still sweating my butt off. Upgraded to this unit at 2,450 BTU. LOVE IT! I turn it on and I swear in 5-10 minutes the shed/work shop is cooled down. I have only had the unit for 3 weeks now so it is still early, but I love it so far. Unit makes a loud buzzing noise when cooling. This was a replacement for a unit we had had for 10 years, (which was working but starting to make loud buzzing noises and we couldn't find anyone to come and repair it). We specifically bought this one because the measurements listed in the product details appeared to be able to fit in the cage of the previous one, but no, it was 1/2" too big, so of course we had to replace the mount, too. Very frustrated, and now we're stuck because it is such a monster to install. Not happy. Wasn't cheap, either. ... show more
