  • Great replacement for Midea U and/or just a new buy - Works great- quiet and efficient
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Wi-Fi Color: Bright White
Have had this unit for a month after the Midea U recall forced a search for a replacement. It is a really good unit and meets my needs in a very hot humid climate for two upstairs rooms with many electronics in the home office/den. It is quite quiet on low and medium fan levels, and somewhat noisy on higher fan speed but have only utilized anything but low after getting the hang of its capabilities. Quick cooling and efficient dehumidification. App interface is good. Recommend this unit and think it will do a great job for you. Installation pretty straight forward and including removal of the old unit this replaced the total time to 'job done' was 1/2 hour about 15 minutes each step. Really like the design and clarity of the instructions. Recommended! ... show more

  • Excellent value - works great!
Size: 10000 BTU Style: Cool Only 115V Color: White
I needed to replace an old a/c that was larger, heavier, and filled with mildew from being stored in the shed. I have a small home - only 600 sq. feet total, but the main area I need to cool is about half that -- my living/dining area. My previous unit was 15000 BTU, so I was nervous about going with only 10,000....but it cools the area just fine. While the bedroom/bath down the hall doesn't get "chilly", it really never did before, anyway. It does lower the temperature, and then a fan at night suffices for sleeping at that end of the house. The price on this was very reasonable, and when I ask for help to take it in and out, my helpers will be grateful that weighs about HALF what my old one did! It's an attractive unit, easy to pull out and clean the filter, and is fairly quiet. I also love that the remote works so well. I'm very happy with my purchase! ... show more

  • This energy saving schemes seems excellent to me
Size: 6000 BTU Style: Electronic & Standard Color: White
I selected buying this 6000 BTU LG for my bedroom after first considered buying another Frigidaire, Haier or a GE air conditioner. I was particularly interested in an a/c unit with low noise, efficient running and of modest cost. Air flow was also important concept. The LG has a 52 decibel rating at low cooling compared to 51 decibel rating for the 6000 Frigidaire; essentially both being quieter than the 6000 Haier and hugely quieter than the 6000 GE. As a frame of reference 50 decibel is equivalent to the sound of high whisper or background sound of the average house. Sixty decibel is the range of typical conversation. Fifty-five decibel was the average decibel level for most window a/c’s in recent past years. To my ears, the fan noise and air turbulence from the output grill of this LG is about the same as the typical window box fan; the compressor over rides that sound mostly because it operates at a bit higher pitch. The Frigidaire seems to have a slightly quieter cooling compressor – but more of a rushing air turbulence from its front discharge grill that tends to offset that benefit. For some, noise is not a major concern as it can even be welcomed in moderation to act as white noise masking unwanted sounds. For me, a/c noise while sleeping can be a bother. However, I have slept very well with this LG while set on its energy saving mode. That setting allows fan to shut off with the cooling compressor – but with fan coming back on in 90 second intervals and running for 30 seconds to sample air temperature until triggered by a rise in temperature to run the compressor. This energy saving schemes seems excellent to me. No noise for a bit at a time and yet the air is kept from overly stagnating. The Frigidaire by contrast runs for 3 minutes after the compressor stops, then waits 10 minutes to run the fan for a super short 10 second span sampling the temperature. In that time span, I often grew a bit uncomfortable with still air becoming warm. The Haier runs 3 minutes like the Frigidaire after compressor stops and waits 10 minutes before recirculates the air for a 3 minute pattern. Both the LG and Frigidaire get extra energy saving by slinging condensation water from the compressor onto the back exchange fins. In heavy rain or high air moisture, the outward fan doing the slinging gets swamped by too much water to plow through, sometimes. This appears to be more a problem with my Frigidaire unit than with my new LG. Simple solution for me is to not use energy saving mode that stalls the fan in spurts from spraying the water over the outside fins – and also avoid using low fan speed. Medium or high fan speed plow through the water build-up well. The LG has a black drain plug on outside right rear. So far in the humid Florida weather, I have had no need to do this, but would simply open and then close the plug when circumstances allowed to return to better energy efficiency. The most pleasant aspect of this LG for me is the uncommon inclined cooling grill.at a 30 degree angle, approximately. While the Frigidaire and Haier have 4-way air direction control neither send cool air to my ceiling were hotter air rises. The LG incline grill sends cooling air that kisses my ceiling. I don’t experience the stratifying pockets of hot air like most other a/c’s leave. The Frigidaire is a solid, well built unit with a very high Consumer Report rating – but its 4-way air control seems to me to direct air flow marginally. I like the appearance of the LG over the Frigidaire or Haier; it resembling the a/c units found under the window and installed in the wall of most upper quality motels. The 6000 LG seems to run about as quite as those units. If you have experienced staying in a motel you’ll have a fairly good idea of the low 52 decibel range of this 6000 LG. . ... show more

  • GREAT FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE, LOW COST TO RUN....
Size: 6000 BTU Style: Electronic & Standard Color: White
IMPORTANT: After you receive your AC unit, or ANY refrigeration appliance, it is really mandatory to let the unit sit-UPRIGHT, for at least 6-8 hours, preferably overnight, to permit the Freon and oil in the system to settle “down” in the unit BEFORE you turn it on…. During shipping you do NOT know if the unit was transported on its side, or even upside down, otherwise, you WILL risk damaging the compressor…. My first purchase of the LG LW6017R 6000 BTU unit was in June of 2000 which replaced a 17 YO Kelvinator 5000 BTU unit. I installed this in my kitchen window primarily to use as backup air conditioning when a Florida hurricane takes out the power. The 6000 BTU size is easily powered by my iGEN2500 inverter generator which also keeps the refrigerator, (beer), cold when the power dies. Recently, my home central AC died and since my air handler is in the attic – builder’s dumb design – I did not want to put good money after bad and spend THOUSANDS with replacing the AC system with the air handler in the attic. I just bought and installed two additional 6000 BTU units; one in my bedroom and the other in the living room. My bedroom window opening was 46 inches wide and the supplied “accordion” side panels would not extend wide enough to block the sides of the AC unit. For the living room window, I “could” have used the accordion panels, but, I wanted to make the installation more “permanent” and I cut pieces of wood for the side panels for both the bedroom and living room installs with pictures showing the final installation. As the units have a cheap, plastic air filter, I also added cut pieces of the white/blue filter material, WHITE SIDE OUT - air input, (ASIN B0DHNBGSXV), and with using the hook side of adhesive Velcro strips, I was able to use this white/blue filter material to ensure a proper air filtration that will keep the evaporator coils clean. See pix. The bedroom and kitchen units provide COLD air with the units cycling during the day. The thermocouple meter shows a 45.1 degree output air temp with a 28.1 degree temperature differential, which is GREAT. The living room unit cools a larger area and with recent 97 degree Florida HEAT, this unit’s compressor runs most of the day. In 95-97 degree heat, my three day electric cost @ $0.14/KWH, for ALL THREE UNITS, was only ~$6.00 or about $2.00 per day, (BR=$0.42/DAY, KIT=$0.45/DAY, and LR=$1.13/DAY)…. You can’t beat that with a stick ;-) As air conditioning is really mandatory in Florida, I am happy as a cool clam without breaking the bank. The remotes are IR which lets you remotely adjust settings individually where an RF remote would definitely cause problems in adjusting an individual unit’s settings. Overall, with the features and performance of these LG units, I can totally recommend these units for keeping your cool for minimal cost…. ... show more
