I have an older car (2002) that I like to work on myself when I can. Being as old as it is, things are starting to break. Being able to check and clear codes myself from anywhere has been a huge help, and it has saved me a few trips to the auto store in the month I've had it. This week, I used it to diagnose two issues that I could fix myself and save a ton of money over taking it to a mechanic. One of them was an EVAP system leak that was just a loose gas cap! It gives you the code and a description of the issue the code relates to, making looking up solutions much easier. This device offers way more functions than I know how to use or understand yet. I primarily use it to diagnose the check engine light and then clear the error once it's fixed. However, it will also run I/M tests (for emissions testing) and give you real-time data streams as you drive your car. As a code reader, I think this thing is worth its weight in gold. I'm sure as I learn more about the additional functions, its value will only increase. My only gripe is that the cord is about a foot shorter than I would like, but this is not a big issue. The function and value are phenomenal. I love this product.

My old reader wouldn't read the 2017 Ford Focus our son in law bought. I figured it was time to get a new one. This one reads his 2017 and my own 2008 and 2007 vehicles. Nothing could be easier. Just plug it into the OBD port on your car and turn it on. This will read and erase codes (I recommend never erasing them though - your mechanic should read them), reads battery voltage and even some minor live readings while the car is running. The main attraction here though is code reading. Then you can take that code and look it up online or give it to your mechanic over the phone so he or she knows what to look for when you bring it in. My mechanic always likes to know what the code is before he even sees my car so huge plus. Great diagnostic tool. Highly recommended to the home mechanic as well as casual user.

I have two other models of ODB2 Scanner/Code-readers that have the same features as this unit. They all seem to work identically, reading and clearing codes and showing real-time engine data. This unit is significantly larger than the other two I have, with a bigger display. That makes it easier to read, but it takes up more space if you're keeping it in the glove box. At the price-point these things are at, I like to keep one in each of my cars.

I think this will work for the American and Japanese cars, but if you’re an Audi or Porsche driver, you’re probably still bound to the dealer. The codes seem to be different on those cars. In terms of ease of use and build quality, this seems solid.

This is a good code reader to have on hand. It is compatible with a wide variety of vehicles including every American-made car after 1996. It is very easy to use and the videos and instructions included provide clear guidance on how to use it. It is useful to have to check your car's maintenance needs or to clear warning codes that you know are false warnings. It's not all encompassing, but great for standard code reading for a low price.

This doesn't show any data for electric vehicles such as battery, state of charge, SOH, charge rate, etc. It does have a suite of basic generic readings for gas vehicles, intake sensors, o2 sensors etc, but if you want anything more than a code reader, you should probably look elsewhere, otherwise, this is a solid code reader.

We live in a rural area and getting in to get car work done can be difficult to schedule. Whenever I get a code on my car I feel panicked because I can never tell if it’s an emergency or if it’s just something I can handle the next time I’m in for my oil change. This is a great tool to make sure that I know exactly what’s happening with my car. I will tell you the instructions are not great (they definitely suffer from poor translation) but it’s a pretty intuitive tool. Plug into the car and you can figure out what error code is bowing up and why. I’d recommend this as a standard car accessory along with your tire air pump and battery for jumpstart. I With this addition I definitely feel prepared for anything!

The tool is compatible to multiple types of cars and error code from car diagnosis is accurate and same as from repair shop and deal, I just tested it for an issue of my car a couple of weeks ago.
