This lamp is ideal for reading because the light is directed downward to your chair with brightness adjustable from very faint to very bright with every possibility in between. The brightness is controlled by the same knob that turns the light on and off. The base is heavy enough that it will not tip over unless considerable force is applied. Ideally, the height of the lamp would be adjustable, but that is not really much of an issue for me. Assembly was somewhat tedious, but not difficult. And, the lamp is reasonably priced. This lamp was super easy to assemble and is great quality that looks more expensive than it is. I was a little worried about the gold looking cheap but it's a great color and the paint is smooth and even. I especially love the versatility of this lamp being able to adjust the angle and brightness.

Sturdy and bright, but you can dim the light, it's has a heavy base for stability. But if you need tan/ivory this shade is white. No remote. I love it but now I'm looking for a tan shade.

The description says 1000 lumens but the bulb is 2700K, which is only 800 lumens. Also the picture shows a bright white light. The low lumens in the ST58 bulb that was sent gives off a yellowish light. Hoping I can purchase a higher lumen so I get a bright white light. The lampshade does not come in one piece. Love that it has the dimmable control up high by the lampshade and not on the floor. We are able to dim or brighten while enjoying time on couch. Nice muted brushed gold color. Overall a great buy.
