I just got these and assembled the first lamp, starting from the base and working my way up per the instructions. When I got to the top section I could barely get the last piece screwed on because there was so much tension in the cord that runs down the pole it kept trying to unscrew itself. This was concerning and I was already uncertain that I felt safe using it knowing how twisted the wiring was inside. But then I went to attach the shade to the reading light and the socket came loose and started twisting around before I could even get it tightened. And because it's spinning freely in its casing I also can't disassemble the lamp to attempt to return it in it's original packaging. Hopefully I can find a bigger box that it will fit in partially assembled because there's no way I'm even plugging this thing in. For the price I expected something that would wobble because it was lightweight and a plastic shade that would eventually crumble. I did not expect something so poorly wired it couldn't even be assembled. ... show more
