At this point (just set it up) I am giving the unit 5 stars. It is quite expensive for a plastic tube with a motor and lights. But that being said I hope the added expense results in a quality motor and electronics. The unit was easy to set up. I used distilled water and 3 drops of Dawn Dishwashing Liquid. I turned the unit on and then submerged the jellyfish per the instructions. They went in perfectly and started their up and down swimming movement. The unit is next to silent. The lighting is beautiful. The jellyfish come to life with almost a 3D effect and glow beautiful colors. I’ll have to admit when I opened the box and looked at what I purchased I was skeptical. But once installed it becomes magical and very soothing to look at. As I said I am hoping the expense of this unit results in years of use. There are much cheaper units out there but I’m hoping the phrase “you get what you pay for” applies to this unit. Right out of the box it is perfect and when the water and jellyfish are added along with the lighting, the unit does not look cheap. The plastic tubing looks like glass once installed. I also like the fact that you can set the unit to automatically change colors or set it to one continuous color. UPDATE After a full year of use, and I mean turned on just about everyday for hours at a time the unit still functions as when it was new and out of the box. The pump is still silent and all lighting works properly. With this one you definitely get what you pay for. COMMENT I have read some of the negative reviews concerning the unit not working properly and breaking down quickly. Here are my thoughts: While it is possible to get a defective unit, I have found that proper setup and maintenance should avoid most of these problems. First, it is very important to use distilled water. Not spring water and especially not tap water. Use distilled (totally mineral free water). Second, After the water is installed and the pump is circulating add 3 drops of a clear (not creamy looking) dishwashing liquid. Be careful not to add any more because the water will look cloudy. The dishwashing liquid keeps the water very soft and acts as a kind of lubricant for the pump. Third, While the pump is circulating, gently submerge the fish, one at a time. They will immediately start dancing. I have occasionally had a tentacle get caught in the grid at the bottom. To free it just take a long fork such as a meat turning fork and give the stuck fish a gental upward tug. It will easily free itself. Following these instructions will make your unit run smoothly for several months. After months of use if the fish get sluggish, add 3 more DROPS (not a squirt) of dishwashing liquid, or you can empty the unit and start fresh again.

This was so easy to set up. I would fill the tank where you want to place it. It takes almost a gallon of distilled water and you literally fill it to the top. But WOW, in the daylight, they move and it's gracefully, pretty. At night with the lights in the take, incredible. They dance together, hug each other, it's romantic, it's playfully, it brings a calming peacefulness that you are mesmerized by. For both old and young alike, worth every cent!

Got this to replace a 3-gallon fish tank on my work desk at home (loved my old fish but they died, and I decided not to replace them due to unwanted tank maintenance). I had a fish tank on my desk for many years but wanted something super low maintenance with lighting (considered a lava lamp), and I'm extremely happy with this. That said, the list price is high and not sure it's worth that (I wouldn't have paid that much), but I got an Amazon warehouse deal for one-third of the list price, and it still came brand new (a couple long dark dog hairs were stuck to the jellyfish, but that was easily corrected). I have this on for 6 hours a day and so glad I went for it. Mesmerizing and relaxing during my working hours! Only cost will be about a dollar for the gallon of DISTILLED water needed to replace it once it does turn cloudy along with a few drops of liquid dish detergent....one week in and still crystal clear though. Also love that it has an AC wall plug....no fussing with USB or recharging it like other models.

I got my older daughter this awesome 15" LED jelly fish aquarium from Lightahead for Christmas, and SHE LOVES IT!! It was fun and easy to assemble, and essentially maintenance-free after 7 months. So many color options! Remote and automatic timer! The quality and size (diameter and height) fantastic!! I highly recommend!

November 2023 is when I purchased 3 of these units for around $430, and it has been close to 2 years. I bought the huge ones, not the small one that is selling for around $45 each. I absolutely loved these things when they worked, but unfortunately I'm leaving a 1 star because all 3 units have failed within a few months. I contacted the seller who was quick to respond, but only offered some basic common-sense troubleshooting and mentioned (or reminded me if it was stated) that these jellyfish only have a 3-month warranty...which I'm sure anyone reading this is going to scratch their head because there are very few things on the planet that only come with that short of a warranty, and there are zero items like this...a toy, display, etc that offer that short of a warranty period. Here's what happened: Unit 1: Started leaking. I caught it before it ruined my high school yearbooks that were stored below the bookshelf it was sitting on. Lesson learned, never put anything with water over things that should never get wet. I tried taking it apart thinking I could replace a bad rubber gasket or o-ring, but while I was drying it out it fell and broke apart, so I ended up trashing it. Unit 2: Started leaking, but the motor works. Unit 3: Not leaking, lights up, but motor doesn't work. I was hoping the seller would share the architecture of how these units are assembled so that I could frankenstein the last 2 units and make 1 working unit, but I could tell from the seller's response that I wasn't going to get anything more than some suggestions like...is it plugged in? Did you replace the water every 3 months? Which by the way, I did not replace any water...didn't realize you had to. The jellyfish are not alive, there is nothing organic to break down. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't replace the water in a snowglobe. So here's my synopsis. The good: Yes they are really cool, and very large. They are some of the more realistic jellyfish I've seen and they will dazzle guests...especially kids, they can't pull away from looking at them. The bad: They have buttons to move through the different color options, which is cool, but it removes the ability to plug into a smart outlet. You will have to manually turn on the unit and if you try to do what I did, and have 3 of these bad boys sitting side by side, you have to turn on all 3 at the same time if you want the lights to change at the same time. No asking Alexa to "turn on jellyfish farm". This makes it hard if you want to store the units somewhere like a ledge or behind furniture where it may be a little challenging to get to the power buttons. The biggest issue is with the quality. A 3-month warranty is laughable. I spent $430 and now my landfill will be their new home. A complete a total loss. Yes I was able to enjoy them for about 1.5 years without issue, but there is no reason these should leak within 10 years if they were made with quality parts. These are not cheap...at over $100 a pop, you are allowed to demand a little higher quality. Seals are replaceable but the seller doesn't provide instructions on how to do so. So in summary, these are beautiful and really cool. However, I bought 3 of them and I find it hard to believe that I happen to get the only bad units out there...so expect them to fail around 2 years. And by fail, I mean they will be rendered completely useless.
