These are great! We just recently took a trip to the lake where we wanted to use our paddle boards all weekend, we figured out that they do not fit in the SUV and we would have to inflate and deflate every time we wanted to go to the beach. We decided to put them on top of the luggage rack on top of the SUV but trying to tie them down with ropes was a real pain. These protect the paddle boards, they allow you to tie them there easily without any effort, we are able to go back and forth from our cottage to the lake and we don't have to inflate and deflate. So much less work, so much easier, safe, secure and will make our next trip so much more enjoyable. Great product. I would definitely buy again.

I have a 10.5' kayak that weighs 65lbs - with this kit, it is pretty easy to mount it on the roof of my car. I haven't once worried about the kayak coming off the roof - the straps do a great job of securing the little boat. Probably the biggest downside is rain. If it rains heavily enough, rain will get into your car via the straps. I have a tarp that I carry with me that allows me to get on the water and then cover the car while I fish. Or cover it overnight when I plan on travelling in the morning. Eventually I will have to abandon a trip due to rain, but hey, that's ok.

The idea of these soft pads is good, but comes at a cost, literally. First of all the good stuff: very well made, feels study; quality materials; the anti slip surface works great. Second of all the bad stuff. from my observations after the use I found two issue that is turn off. The pads can deform the car's roof, I wouldn't leave these resting on top of a car for extensive periods of time as it MIGHT result in a permanent damage. In order to fix the pads on the roof, you have to tighten them so they don't come loose. That's where the deforming appears. The pads were used on 2017 Prius, perhaps the roof is too thin on that car, and the product will perform different on another Auto Make. However, the biggest draw back is the fact that the incoming air cannot pass through the pads on the higher speeds. Resulting in the drastic hit on a fuel economy. The Avrg MPG drop from ~47 to ~30! That's a LOT for the most efficient vehicle. Now, did I expect this to happen? I didn't expect anything, I needed something quick and this product seemed like a good fit. After trying it, I disliked the Soft Kayak Roof Rack Pads. Overall, not a bad product that is very well made, but comes at the cost of fuel economy and potential property damage. Will be returning the Universal Car Soft Kayak Roof Rack Pads.
