I bought one of these clocks over 9 years ago for our covered horse area and it has worked great. During that time I've had at least 4 other clocks fail inside the barn where it's much more protected. I decided to just buy another of these indoor/outdoor clocks for the barn and it is doing fine. The numbers are easy to see from a distance and the protective cover over the battery area seems to keep it from being affected by dust and moisture.     • Simple, but that's what I wanted

I wanted an economical clack to put outside my office on the ramp at the airport where I work. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and I don't care that it doesn't have temperature, humidity, pretty colors or flashing lights. All I want is something that is weather resistant and easy to read at a reasonable distance. This clock fills the bill perfectly. It has a conventional quartz movement that is powered by a single AA battery. However, it is protected by a close-fitting clear plastic case that provides a degree of protection from the elements. That has been the biggest failing I've seen with other such clocks. Over a fairly brief period of time, usually less than 3 months, water gets into the movement, and it dies. The only weak point I can see with this clock from that standpoint is the dial "crystal". It's a large, sturdy, clear plastic molding, but it simply snaps into the front of the case with no real seal. Water can seep in around the edges, and thus into the movement. I have sealed this on my clock with a bead of aviation-grade sealant (I do work on airplanes, after all!) I imagine regular silicone sealer would work as well for this. All in all, I think this clock is worth the $17.34 I spent for it. If it lasts a year, I'll be happy, and I'll buy another to replace it. ... show more

    • Simple Clock, Simple Failure

Arrived as advertised. Mounted outside several weeks ago under porch. Does not see full sun or rain. Has not lost time after 5 weeks. No fancy controls to worry about breaking (no daylight savings time, auto-updates, etc.). Update: One year after purchase the minute and hour-hand have become detached from the spindle and hang down now pointing at the 6. This clock has been kept out of direct sunlight, is not exposed to rain and has not been dropped. It would appear the adhesive or mounting glue used to secure the minute and hour-hand simply dried-up, flaked off/failed. The second hand continues to rotate. Removed the clocks face and tried to see if I could re-attach the minute & hour hands but, there does not appear to be any way of re-attaching the hands to the spindle without spending a lot of time and effort (and messy glues/adhesive). Don't waste your money. ... show more

We bought this clock to hang on our outside wall of the house so we could see it from the patio or pool. The size is perfect for this; large, but not overly so. The numbers are are in a clean, easy to read at a glance font, and the hands are easily visible. I bought this item because of the inside/outside designation; whether that claim will stand remains to be seen. However, the body of the clock seems to be well constructed and reasonably weather proof. I was impressed that a clear plastic cover was included to fit over the battery compartment, which may help with moisture problems. The clock is somewhat protected by an eave and not in direct sunlight, so I don't anticipate any sun damage to the plastic. Only time will tell how well it will hold up outside, but the low price will help to ease my mind in case it does not last. ... show more

I purchased this clock because I needed something to hang outside so I didn't need to keep running in so I knew what time it was. I have had it hanging outside for about a month now and it is working great. Keeps good time and it is truly waterproof. Here in Central Jersey we have had our fair share of rain and the clock has been out in all of it. It has not lost a beat and it has stayed dry inside the clock. It also has a cover that goes over the battery compartment that seals tight. The face is very easy to read and you don't have to be very close to see what time it is. I would recommend this to anybody that wants a clock that can take the elements of being outside and is easy to see from across the yard. ... show more

What can I say ? It's a clock, a clock large enough to be seen from a distance. I purchased this clock before, a few summers ago, and it did not last for a full year and a half. The product states it is an indoor/outdoor clock, but I don't think it is made to take harsh winters. This time, I will bring it inside for the winter, as I only use it to see the time while I'm in the swimming pool. I would not say it is a well made clock, but it suits my purpose. I'm hoping it will last a little longer this time by bringing it inside during the winter. Like they say, 'You get what you pay for' and this clock is fairly inexpensive. Having been in my possession for nearly 2 months now this clock has gained 1 second. That's a annual accuracy rate of + or - 6 seconds. Not bad. And the look is just what I wanted. Large numerals, digits not hash marks, red second hand, and a size any senior can read from a distance. I'm proud to say this purchase made my day and date. You won't find a better one out there especially for the price. Oh, and I almost forgot, power outages are never a problem thanks to a single AA battery, AmazonBasics of course.
