There seems to be a scarcity of well-designed tall plastic trash cans these days, and this is one of the few. What I dislike about it is that the swing top stops being able to move freely before the trash can is actually full, so I have to empty the trash when the can is about 2/3 full.

So I really like this trashcan. I actually got it specifically for recycling. Feel it was a little overpriced but it was more convenient ordering it so pretty much paid for the convenience. Lost a star not just because of that but also because it was kinda dirty when I opened it. Not sure how it was already dirty. Didn't seem as though it was used and returned dirty but just stored in a dirty warehouse that they obviously need to pay more attention to or something idk. Im sort of ocd and clean my barrels regularly but I dont usually expect to have to when they're brand new. ... show more

I don’t like that the flap can’t swing around if the van is more than 3/4 full because the the shape and how low it scoops, but this is a general downside to the swing top cans. If you are fine with that this is a great can for you. I bought it for the basement where my teenagers and husband game in the hopes that they would pick up after themselves if the van was within 5 feet of their body. This however was an unrealistic expectation on my part. The most exciting thing about this if you ask my youngest is that it comes in a giant box and he played in it for days before destroying it and leaving it in the living room. I like that my 13 gallon bags fit nicely inside. I like that it has a lid and most of the time it swings closed on its own. I don't like that the swinging lid's design makes it hit the trash and stop before the bag is full. Sturdiness, Durability, and Value I am happy with. Minus a star for the lid design. ... show more

It looks nice and is easy to clean. The big problem I have is with the lid. The swinging portion of it is so big that you can't fill the trash to the brim, or even 75%, without the lid getting stuck. We got this to frustrate our dog, who likes to steal from the trash -- and it's working out great. The 'nickel' color is forgiving of stray drips and drops and for the price-point, the can opens and closes smoothly. You do have to slightly stretch the top of a standard 'tall kitchen' bag to make it fit around the oval top, but that's not a hassle for us. The fact that the can top is seated above the trash line means you get can stuff the bag pretty full without worry. The top is a tad more bulbous than I'd anticipated - it's really a matter of your own personal taste how you like the design. Overall it's a fine value (the other cans I liked cost $75 and up - which is really kind of crazy for what they do, unless you're running a school cafeteria or coffee shop), looks nice in our relatively small kitchen and has allowed us to keep the can on the floor and not on the counter, where we often stored our old one out of dog's way. ... show more

People complained in reviews I read before purchase about how kid would not close on its own , would Ramon half open once trash deposited , this was easily remedied by a simple application of thin lubricating oil to the contact area of swivel point. Works perfect been 2 months and only put lube on upon receiving, FYI I used turbine oil , almost same as 4-1 purchased at any hardware store / Home Depot and the oil is a must have in any house anyhow. ... show more
