I already had an inexpensive banjo uke made by Kmise, which is very well-made and plays nicely, so when I was in the market for an inexpensive tenor-scale uke, I saw this Kmise tenor at a really low price and decided to take a chance. Holy cow, it's so darn good. It's put together with care, has a nice straight neck, a slightly arched back, a "string-thru" style bridge, the strings are spaced and centered accurately across the fretboard, the fretwork is good, the nut is cut and positioned accurately, the tuning machines are smooth and work fine, the intonation is perfect up and down, and it has a nice crisp feel and tone. Couldn't ask for more, and frankly I'm amazed that a uke this nice could be so inexpensive. As with other tenors I've owned, it really seems to like to be tuned a full step downward, to "f Bb D G." This keeps the string tension at a more moderate level, and renders a warm, jazzy vibe to what you're playing. Highly recommended! I've been playing for 57 years. ... show more
