  • Versatile lift, assembly is straightforward.
I ordered the Triumph NSS-8SQ to provide an extra parking space in my 2-car garage. The lift ships quickly from National Auto and as I don’t have a forklift to get it from a truck, I asked for it to be delivered to a local depot. I rented a U-Haul auto Transport trailer to get it home which worked out perfectly. The lift comes packaged using steel brackets on either end which bolt to the runners and everything is packed tightly inside. This allowed me to strap it down to one side of the trailer which kept it secured for the drive. Once home, I unbolted each piece and unloaded it into my garage. It is important to know one of the runners has the hydraulic ram under it which makes it very heavy. The other runner was the second heaviest part but was movable with a couple people. The runner with the hydraulic ram required me to use my engine hoist to unload it and move it around. Putting the lift together was very straightforward. The instructions which come with it are basic, however the assembly follows common sense for the most part. I chose to erect the vertical supports then lift the horizontal supports up then down into the vertical supports which was very easy with two people, the horizontal supports do not weigh much and once they slide into the top, they can be “walked” down the vertical supports by manipulating the safety locks for each step down. Lifting the heavier runner required the engine hoist with tow straps to get it lifted the couple feet and on top of the horizontal supports. The lighter runner was lifted and bolted in. After the runners were bolted to the horizontal supports, the following steps were a breeze. Overall, the only pieces which require multiple people to move are the runners, all other components are manageable. Connecting the cables was a simpler affair than the instructions laid out. I found it best to ignore the instructions here and just use common sense. Each cable is already installed in the heavy runner, so its just a matter of routing the longest cable to farthest vertical support, then moving down the scale. The cable routing is very clean and there was no interference. The cables are also fully adjustable using the jam nuts at the top of each vertical support (end caps) and they have holes for cotter pins to keep the jam nut from backing out all the way which is advisable. As other reviews noted, there are a couple components that do not come in the box. You will need 3 gallons of hydraulic oil. I ordered 3 gallons of “Mobil DTE 26, Hydraulic” fluid from Amazon and was in business. The other component which is not covered well here or in the instructions is the electrical requirements. The pump requires a 110v, 30A circuit. I had a 220 circuit prewired from when I started shopping for a lift, so I had to change the breaker and outlet. The pump just had the wires coming out about 3” then cut which would connect to wire nuts in theory. I took the route of installing a 25’ 12-3 (12ga, 3-wire) SOOW flexible cable wired directly into the motor control box. This requires two spade connectors (for the relay/switch) and one ring connector (for the ground). The installation was simple and just required opening the box, sliding the relay out, then replacing the stub wires that came with the pump assembly with the new wire (and soldering the connectors instead of just crimping). The other end of the cable needed a NEMA L5-30P male connector, and the outlet needed an L5-30R receptacle for my installation. I am not an electrician, so I would recommend consulting with a professional on your needs. The lift works really well, and the casters allow movement and repositioning, so I built the lift in the center of my garage, then just moved it when it was completed. The motor is quiet and quick, I do not have any concerns with longevity or strength with this lift. So far, I have used it only on one car that is about 3300lbs, and it lifted it effortlessly and quickly. The ramps are low enough to allow driving onto the lift very simple, and the stops at the end are interchangeable with the ramps, so the lift could be rotated 180 degrees to move the motor/pump to the opposite corner if desired. The ramps also clear the safety lock locks and cables very well. Long-term my installation will hold a smaller car that is about 1300lbs for storage, however I will also use the lift for auto maintenance as well. There are locks every 4” or so and they are strong and reliable. I highly recommend this lift for general use and car storage. National Auto Tools was also very responsive and helpful throughout the process. ... show more

  • Works Great
Very happy with this lift. I have had it for almost three years now and it works great, does everything I could ask of it. I would probably rate it 4.5 stars if that was an option. My only very minor complaints, the drip trays are kind of flimsy and sag in the middle, and instructions for assembly were pretty much non-existent. The big parts were pretty self explanatory, and my sone and I had them together in a couple hours. The fiddly bits, cables and locks me longer than the big bits, and the only information I could find about filling and bleeding the hydraulic pump (something I was not real familiar with) was wrong, I had to trial and error trying various valves and openings. I minimal stretch with the cables, after initial fine tuning I have only had to do some minor adjustments onçe about a year ago. It seems very strong, solid and steady. ... show more

  • It doesn't come with directions
Call the company for exact directions. I googled directions and they were difficult to follow. Once we figured it out, it was easy to assemble. So far works great and neighbors/car guys are envious.

  • Won’t lift my car
Won’t lift my car…. after several phones calls and doing what the technician has asked, still no luck. Tried calling national Autoparts and left several messages with no return phone. I wish I wouldn’t have wasted my money.

  • A great lift for smaller cars
This lift was perfect for my application. As can be seen in the photograph, the tolerances were very close, but the lift works well for my purposes. The hardest part assembling the lift was unpacking it, but going slowly, I managed to unpack it without smashing any fingers. As I’m not young, in my 70’s, I even managed to erect it with little help. My wife helped me to slide the cross beams onto the posts. We laid the columns on the floor on dunnage and slid each beam done to the lowest stop an then lifted the two columns with cross beam installed and set it into approximate final position. I set the other two columns and cross beam at the other location as required to fit the ramps. Then, with my wife’s help, we slid the ramps into position and they dropped onto the cross beams. From there, we installed the ramp bolts into the cross beams and I was then able to attach the cabling system and hydraulic pump motor. Then, we installed the safety lock lever with its associated hardware, filled the reservoir with hydraulic fluid and tested the system. Then, I managed to, with help of the casters, get the lift located so that it did not interfere with the garage door. I decided that the old adage is true, that is, “measure twice, cuss once.” I really appreciated my wife’s help and all the “oral” support she provided. We both completed the job with all our fingers and toes intact. Thanks for the great product ... show more

  • Great product, but I should have gotten the two post.
Great product for storing your vehicle, or changing oil. I should have went with the two post, since I do a lot more than that. Also be sure to measure your vehicle wheel base, length and width. My Tahoe just barely fits, and my Silverado will not fit. It takes three to four guys to get one of the ramps in place, and be sure to plan to lag this beast down. She is wobbly with a vehicle on her. ... show more

  • Great option if you have a smaller garage
Very happy with this lift. Purchased it because of the small footprint compared to similar lifts. Am able to get nearly full height in a 10ft ceiling garage (with a small car). Assembly was straight forward (note there is a different cable routing guide for the Classic lift that did not come with it. Was emailed to me). If you're looking for an affordable compact storage, I recommend this one. ... show more

  • Be the envy of your car friends
Amazing product, saves my back from having to crawl on the ground to work on the car, also using it for storage... two cars in one garage, waaay cheaper than having to build a second garage. Great quality, fast shipping — couldn’t be happier!
