Do your homework on powerhead compatibility - there are a lot of attachment systems out there, and this edger wasn't compatible with my HyperTough trimmer. Because "Buyer pays return shipping" made this essentially non-returnable, I ended up buying an attachment-capable Troy-Built gas trimmer with a compatible coupler. Once I was able to put the edger to work, it performed better than my B&D plugin electric trimmer, and made quick work of my first-of-the-season spring edging on a large corner lot. Wet grass and dirt do pack up the edger's guard, but I've yet to find an edger that is immune to that. Would recommend the product. Will see how well the included blade holds up. ... show more

This is awesome. I didn't want to spend $300 on a gas edger when I already have a good Cub Cadet string trimmer. This edger snaps right in to the shaft of my trimmer and it really does a nice job edging. I let my neighbor borrow it, who has a Ryobi trimmer and he immediately ordered this from Amazon. A few things I'll mention is when you first edge (as with any edger) you'll want to knock the grass back off the concrete as much as possible. I used a spade shovel in the bad areas and then took my string trimmer to knock back as much as I could. Then the edger can get next to the concrete as designed. It does tend to pull you along and you'll need to hold it firmly. It also uses a lot of my gas because it takes a lot of juice to cut through the dirt. All in all I highly recommend this edger for anyone that has a compatible tool. ... show more

This edger is great! Clips right onto my trimmer and does what it supposed to well. The people complaint probably have not been edging for a long time... When you don't edge regularly every edger is going to get jammed more frequently and be tough to use. Once you get through the initial edge it's easy to keep up if you use it every few weeks. I came from a corded edged and will never go back. This product is great, but if you have let your edging go for a while it will take some time to re-establish a good line. After going without an edger for years and years, I finally got tired if using my string attachment and bought this. A dedicated edger, for the amount I have to do, was overkill and overpriced. This was perfect for my needs. This came easy to assemble and easy to use. Just remember that this isn't a dedicated commercial edger and take it easy on the unit. So far, after about 5 edging sessions, I've broken it in and figured out the best way to utilize this little beast. My edging looks great-nice and even. Just dont try and go too deep right away. Use the minimum depth and make small increments from there. I keep the throttle on my gas unit "floored" and have no issues at all. This thing works great! So if you want to stop burning through all your string and get nice uniform results, spend a lot less than you would for an expensive standalone edger and put your order in for this universal edger attachment. You will be happy you did. If you are wondering about durability, just get the extended warranty and you will still be money ahead! ... show more

I used this attachment to connect to my Kobalt 80-volt String Trimmer. Worked great! Before I purchased I was tipped off to replace the blade with the Ryobi 8 in. Replacement Edger Blade from Home Depot ($7.99). I tried it first without the Ryobi blade just to test it out. The blade got stuck every few seconds, and I had to clear grass, dirt, and mud from the edger housing. I was pretty disappointed. I quickly replaced the blade and I can't describe to you what a massive difference it made, definitely upgrade to this blade! You will be blown away with the difference. I bought this edger for use with my Greenworks 40 V string trimmer. It works well and was $12 cheaper than the apparently identical Greenworks edger attachment. It fits the Greenworks trimmer drive perfectly. You can't be overly aggressive when using the edger as the drive will cutout and beep when you overload the motor. Releasing the trigger resets the drive. On a hot (> 90 F), the drive electronics shutdown when the batter reached it temperature limit. I had a cool drink myself and waited about 15 minutes for the battery to cool and continued working. No problem. ... show more
