The Bunky Board provides a solid surface foundation for any platform beds, bunks and daybeds. It adds support to the mattress and will keep mattress stay in good shape thus extending the life of your mattress. It will give a firm bottom support for the mattress and raises the mattress up for about 1.5 inches. I purchased a newer mattress that did not need a box spring, and a platform bed (metal) with a lot of support bars. Both stated no need for box spring, but after setting up, you could not sit on the end of the bed as the mattress would fall down between the support bars. Same at headboard. Mattress seemed small and not consistent support. Bunkie Board to the rescue. Excellent construction, sturdy wood covered with fabric. It shows slightly on edges by mattress and looks very nice. I have a platform bed and I didn’t think that I needed anything else to support it, but I was wrong. I was told a bunkie board would make my bed sturdier. I put these in place by myself. They were easy to carry. It was the mattress that was heavy! I’ve slept on this bed and have felt secure knowing I’ve got those boards in place. These are quality pieces that seem built to last. It’s easy to assemble and it’s hardly noticeable. I’ve been needing a new board and I’m glad I went with this one! It fits perfectly under my mattress and even though it’s two pieces, it doesn’t clash badly like the cheap ones you can buy.
