  • Decent little cd player
Color: BLACK Style: CD Boombox
Took about 5 minutes to figure out. Once that was accomplished the cd player is easy to use and provides just the right sound quality and volume for me while doing my workout every day. I think it is a very good value.

  • Decent sound
Color: BLACK Style: CD Boombox
My 7 yr old wanted a radio/CD player of his own. This did the trick. Works well, sounds good. Buttons a little confusing at first, but he was able to get the hang of it.

  • Basic unit, small controls, portable
Color: BLACK Style: CD Boombox
Purchased to replace a similar unit that died after many years of good service. I'm old-school, I like a portable radio with CD player for my kitchen so when mine finally died over the holidays, I knew I wouldn't be happy until I replaced it. I have had good luck with Toshiba brand audio equipment before, so I selected this Toshiba TY-CRS9 Portable CD Boombox with AM/FM Stereo and Aux Input. POSITIVES: This unit is simple, no extra bells and whistles. I was able to start using it without reading the manual (oops!). It is compact and lightweight, I can move it from room to room if I want. It operates either plugged into the wall (cord included) or on "C" batteries (batteries not included). In my situation, the radio is getting good reception without even raising the attached antenna -- which my old radio did not. Audio quality is not amazing but acceptable for a small unit. I do like the digital tuner which my previous radio did not have. NEGATIVES: The buttons to control the operations are small (there are no knobs) and some buttons are multi-functional (which I would have known if I read the manual *g*). If you have large fingers, long fingernails, or poor vision, you might have difficulty operating this unit. There is no remote control. Also, a face-plate on the front fell off after about a week -- it seems to be attached with sticky tape, so I pushed it back into place. If it falls off again, I'll glue it. Doesn't bode well for the quality. BOTTOM LINE: This is a convenient radio/CD player for a small space, if you can operate the buttons. I have not tried the AUX input--I think a USB input might be more useful these days. I see the price has increased since I purchased it. The higher price might have had me shopping longer and I might have chosen a different item, but I am satisfied with this radio/CD player. ... show more

  • Worst radio I've ever seen in my life
Color: BLACK Style: CD Boombox
This thing is impossible to use. The controls are not understandable to use. If you are lucky enough to find the button to change the station you can't just hold it down to get where you want. If just stops where it wants to. How utterly disappointing and a waste of time. Now I have to return it.

  • Great!
Color: BLACK Style: CD Boombox
Had it for a week, came with the cord. It's compact and a name brand that I know. Works fine to me, used only the CD player though... can't really comment on the durability of this yet. Inexpensive too. Radio stations are digital tuning, not the manual dials (which I prefer). As for the negative reviews: one woman (I seriously eye-rolled) complained that she wants a refund because all she "got was the power cord, not anything else like the headphones" - a lot of these reviewers must be part of the baby boomer generation or Generation X and older (definitely not Millennials or Gen-Z) because some of the reviews clearly showed that their comprehension is lacking when it comes to understanding what is being advertised on the actual label. An auxiliary jack means you can connect it to a phone or device to play mp3 (it also serves as a headphone jack); it looks like the same hole on a smartphone... not sure what these people are complaining about, no where does it say there's a USB or SD card slot on the description; it says it plays mp3, which any Millennial knows is the aux jack. As for the function buttons, seriously! - you people can't figure it out!? I mean, the icons are the same for every electronic device, even on the walkmans they had back in the 1990's!!! As for CDs not working, if you're burning your own CDs you have to see which ones you are writing on: CD - RW, CD - R, or CD MultiRead; a legit CD that is sold from a store and not downloaded on to a CD from a computer that you did yourself is always MultiRead... Mine came with an instruction booklet that I didn't even bother reading, so those that didn't get one must have ordered it used or from a third-party seller; make sure it says you're buying it "Ship and Sold by Amazon" (for you novice online shoppers out there). I seriously think a lot of reviewers would benefit from a YouTube video for understanding electronics, because this stereo is as basic as you can start off with, and the dumbfounded reviews are incredible, that I couldn't be sure if it was legit or trolls... and please stop asking for refunds on a review, don't you people even know how to submit a refund on Amazon!? ... show more

  • Exactly what I was looking for
Color: BLACK Style: CD Boombox
I needed a radio that didn't have bluetooth due to work restrictions and this does exactly what i need it to do. Its pretty bare bones but it was perfect for my needs. The sound quality and volume is what you would expect for a sub $40 radio but its all I need.
