You can disable the beep completely!

I was after a cheap small microwave. This microwave saved me a fair bit of counter space from the previous one that was here. What I didn't expect is that it is my favorite microwave ever. Down sides - it's small (positive for me) it is lower watts so longer cook times, and the display is bright. Up sides - The beep can be disabled and the display toggled. The instruction manual was worth skimming for codes for options, other than that everything was intuitive. Using this microwave is awesome. No beeps at all once disabled. It just shuts off when done. The display can be toggled off by pressing the stop button. And when you press a number key by default it does that many minutes saving a button press. Of course the start button adds 30s making it easy to quickly get to a time. I wanted a cheap space saving one, but to my surprise found my favorite microwave.

Great Mid-Sized Microwave

Great little microwave! My old Hamilton beach reached its end after 9 years of heavy use. I wanted something medium sized and under 1500 watts. The unit as a whole looks sharp. The LED lighting is bright but I love it. The interior light is a soft blue which is nice as well. Its awesome to be able to mute the beeping lol I heated up some leftovers and its impressive. It only took 1:45 to heat up leftover steak, potatoes and asparagus. Everything was hot and nothing was cold or warm. Great value for the money! You can disable the child lock and beeping which is nice. I cook heavily so being able to operate quietly is key.

Looks nice, works well, requires a little patience

It looks nice and works reliably so far (several months in now). Not a big fan of the child-protection door lock feature because we don’t have children here and it makes you WAIT until it’s done beeping before it lets you unlock and open the door! :-/ I try to press cancel and unlock it before time’s-up to avoid waiting through the beeps. It is slower at heating than the big high-wattage ones, but overall we are getting used to its personality quirks and we are very happy with it.

This little oven is a gem and perfect for college dorms and apartments where space is at a premium. Don't let the 700W rating fool you -- this thing is CRAZY FAST at heating food. Way faster than my Sharp 1000W commercial microwave I have in the kitchen. It's made by Midea like 95% of the microwaves sold today. Has worked great with no issues for a year now. If you don't have small children, just permanently disable the door lock before using it to save yourself frustration.

You can turn off sound AND the light from the display

You can turn off the sound! (Although it resets if the power goes out.) You just hold the number 8. And you can turn off the display, in case you're bothered by intrusive light coming from it. (Just hit cancel a few times and the display light goes off.) This one was a bonus, since I didn't realize when buying that it could do this. But it makes me very happy. Overall, it's a small little microwave, which is what I needed because the electrical circuit it's on can't handle a big power draw. Only "downside" is that big popcorn bags tend to get stuck (can't turn) but...I actually like that since I like the taste of slightly burnt popcorn, ha. Otherwise it works great and heats fine.

It arrived with a huge dent, over-heated, & died quickly. Should Toshiba have packed it better?

This may not altogether be Toshiba's fault. I have long regarded Toshiba as a quality brand, but this Microwave oven after heating 2 cups of water, quit altogether. I think that an over temperature internal fuse probably blew. It went dark & felt very hot on the outside of the oven. The parcel had arrived appearing beat up. The oven in the rear had a large dent in it, perhaps obstructing the fan. Perhaps somebody dropped the oven in the warehouse or the carrier dropped it during shipment. I think Toshiba could be partly to blame for not packing it to withstand a drop, though who knows if it fell from 30 feet in a warehouse! It was packed with packing white rigid foam. But I think on the sides it had little protection if it fell on some protruding piece of steel away from the package edges. I liked it for being only 700 Watts & 9 1/2 inches high, which let me install it on a 10 inch bookshelf. And the outlet in my library is rated only at 15 Amps, with other devices powered by the same circuit. I paid more for it that other brands listed for similar products, but it was a Toshiba! I am returning it. And the return process at least has UPS coming for it to my home with a label. (Of course it probably cost me an hour of packing time & whatever my tape is worth. I packed it for return in original box with a second box constructed over that, which may be silly as I doubt either Toshiba or Amazon can do anything with it except trash it (maybe include it in a surprise forklift crate for scavangers). I am replacing it with another brand (I never heard of) for about $20 less in price. Seems I had burned up my original (no-brand I think) garage sale $25 unit by leaving it on with nothing in it for an extended period of time. (Don't do that.)

Perfect for everyday use

What a great little microwave! I was a bit worried it might be too small but it fits: a dinner plate, 3 mugs, a 1.5 qt casserole dish with lid, a 1 pound loaf dish, a pyrex pie plate and alike. It also accommodates the average tall takeout soup container. Think Wanton. DISCLAIMER: It holds all these items separately - not all at once! That would be nuts. This unit is much quieter than my huge over-the-range microwave. In retrospect, what an absolute waste of space and money the old one is - without being any more useful to me than this 'little' unit! The buttons are easy to press, the pre-sets are convenient, the lighting is both soft and bright. It's heavy enough to be stable. Light enough to move. I spent the extra 16 bucks for the 4 year plan, just in case. Now that I actually have the unit, it seems so well-made and designed, the plan is probably unnecessary. (My old microwave died like a supernova. On a holiday weekend. Not taking any chances right now.) All the glowing reviews for Toshiba microwaves are spot-on. I'm very happy with this purchase.
