Description

Make garden prep simple with the Toro Compact Front Tine Tiller. The Toro Compact Front Tine Tiller is two garden tools in one. This perfect garden tool is easily converted from a front tine tiller to cultivator in just seconds with no tools required. Simply choose between 11, 16 or 21 inch tilling widths by adding or removing tines and sliding off the robust tine shields. For additional customization, set your tilling depth up to 11” deep with the heavy duty drag stake. As a cultivator, the Toro Compact Front Tine Tiller can weed, mulch, and aerate soil. As a tiller, it powers through large plots of land to weed and prepare seed beds for planting. The powerful 99cc 4-cycle engine delivers ample power to turn any soil while remaining maneuverable. Thanks to its low center of gravity, The Toro Front Tine Tiller turns on a dime to allow for precise tilling around delicate plants and fence lines. The onboard wheels allow for additional control in the garden and simple transportation.

  • Very powerful tiller
For an inexpensive tiller this thing is a beast. I bought a slightly cheaper Toro last yr and, I'll admit it, ran it dry on oil and burned up the engine. So I bought this model which was around $500 and what a difference, much better engineering and it just works. We have very hard clay soil and, while it has to work hard, will pound through it and does a great job. Starts on the first pull (amazing for a small engine) and is a workhorse. Now, with very hard soil, you have to go over it without the drag bar and it is going to jump all over, but if you go slowly and pull it back toward you it will dig in and eventually you can drop the drag bar to the first position and go over it again and eventually the deepest setting. This thing will take a beating and get the job done. On softer soil or one that has been tilled over before like an existing garden it is smooth as silk. Would recommend highly. ... show more

  • Best investment for my gardening tasks that I have made in a long time - SUPER COOL!!!
Very easy assembly and kicked off right away for my fairly large garden 20x25 = tore through the soil and compost in prep for planting this year's crop ... removed side shields and muscled up into my raised garden beds to tackle turning this area as well. Had the right amount of power for tackling compacted areas and fairly lightweight to hoist into the beds. Removed tines just to test how easy this would work in prep for my weeding later in the season - a breeze and nice feature. Great for tilling and cultivating as a versatile tool - highly recommend!!! ... show more

  • I'm wicked happy, buy one
Plenty of power, I'm happy. Like a hot knife thru butter. On start be sure to toggle the switch to "on". I really like how it stops when I hit a rock that jams, instead of needing a new shear pins... A sweet machine, I love gas engines as well

  • Worked and then it didn't.
I bought this back in February of 2025. I usually don't write reviews right away as you need time to use the product. Worked fine when I tilled my garden in the spring of 2025 and then the fall of 2025. Went to get ahead of the game and till it in January of 2026 (I live in the south). It wouldn't start. Took it to an authorized Toro dealer and they said it was the spark plug and put in a replacement. Worked good in early February. Went to use it again today (February 18, 2026) and it died on me again and won't start again. My recommendation don't buy. I'm sure I'm screwed again as the dealer told me the repair for changing the spark plug wasn't under warranty and my warranty runs out the end of this month. It will be sold to someone who enjoys tinkering with Chinese junk. I'll go look for hopefully something better but who knows these days with cheap imported crap everywhere. ... show more

  • Simple
Like an idiot I purchased without reading the reviews first but after this I don't care if I ever read reviews again ! All I read was how hard it was to assemble, and how they didn't supply enough nuts and bolts and how nothing lined up. Well I DIDNT EVEN NEED TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IT WAS SO EASY ! I put it together in 20 mins , checked the oil, and it fired up on the first pull! Toro is the bomb! I have a Toro snow blower as well. Great company, great machine ! Thanks Toro !! ... show more

  • Price, performance right for Toro tiller
This Toro tiller was one of my Best Buys at $500. The only catch was that I had to assemble. No problem. I’ve gone this route before with mowers. It took about 90 minutes overall. While this tiller is listed as a “compact” it does have a max tilling width of 21 inches making it suitable for most gardens. It’s engine is listed at 99cc so that would put it at about 3-3.5 hp. The whole package weighs around 85 pounds, well above mini-tiller status. After adding the supplied oil, I filled the tank with fuel and attempted to start it. After several pulls the engine came alive so I let it warm up. Then it was off to the garden where it chewed up the long dormant soil without hesitation. I’ve owned other Toro products over the years without issues. I expect nothing less with this one. ... show more

  • Good product, good price.
Easy to put together, although there was a couple of bolts missing and I replaced 2 locking pins for the outside tines with bolts. Tiller is light and manageable , although I would not use it to till very hard ground.
