I always loved having this type of lamp on my desk while I'm working on a scale model kit or anything else. This is a well-made product that does the job but the lamp cover part could have been larger to stop the bulb glaring from the side, especially since I need a relatively bright LED bulb for the work I do. The entire lamp would be much better if it were around 20% larger than it is in general. The on/off switch is on the lamp's power cord when it would have been better if it were on the top of the lampshade. That having been said, the lamp's base is weighted well so it's pretty stable and there's an option to anchor it with a clamp if preferred and the on/off switch is easily reachable on the lamp's wire. Overall these are quite nice lamps. My only complaint is the clamp mount is not as sturdy as I'd like. I have large grow bulbs in them weighing 14oz and the plastic bottom of the clamp bends when the lamp is extended. I fear these will break eventually and I'll have to figure something else out. For standard light bulbs though, this is not an issue. The range of motion is pretty good, especially for normal desk usage. I'm down with this lamp. It's got a good heavy base and pivots in all the ways you'd like to without collapsing. This was one of those nice surprises where you are expecting cheap quality and wind up with something you don't regret purchasing. Your mileage may vary, but it suits me just fine. As a note, it's odd that the review asks you to rate the brightness of the lamp given it depends on what bulb you choose to use. Bulbs not included. ... show more

The clamp was weak and would not hold when making miner adjustments to the lamp. Tried several times. But for me it worked out fine because the base is good and heavy. I like everything about this lamp from price to versatility, but I had to knock off a star since their quality control overlooked the fact they shipped it out with an unthreaded nut for the base. Not a huge nor expensive issue… just annoying.

    • Not suitable for headboard reading light....

This lamp comes with two ways to mount: a clip for the headboard/desk attachment or a round base for tabletop use. The screw on attachment does not work well for a headboard. The screw on holder is small, weak and holds just long enough for you to get to sleep before it fails. So, you get a surprise as the lamp lands on your head while you're sleeping. The range of motion is much more limited than a goose neck reading light too. Still, I liked the lamp's design better than the goose necks and am sorry it did not work for the purpose intended. I found another lamp with a strong clip and the switch on the back of the lamp head so you don't have to fumble around to find the clicker on the cord. It seems much better suited for headboard use.
