After going through back surgery earlier this year, I have been looking for that perfect office chair that will compliment and not hurt my back. My job's HR people have ordered various commercial level chairs including one of those Herman mesh chairs but they all have not worked out for me. I liked the fact that this is a completely solid chair, meaning that the seat and back are not mesh. I also like that it is not over-stuffed and has a nice arch to support my back. Assembly: This is one of the easiest chairs I've put together. There are only 4 components, the back, seat, tilt/swivel mechanism and the bottom. Well, I guess 5 if you count the headrest. It took more time to unbox and remove all the plastic and foam than it did to assemble the chair. Everything lined up, there was no need to forced any of the components into alignment. Materials: While the seating surface material is advertised as "leather", it's nothing more than naugahyde (and not even very soft naugahyde). There's a funny odor that emanates from the chair that hopefully will dissipate in a few days. Features and Adjustments: For a chair in this price point, it severely lacks ergonomic adjustments. The arms only go up and down, they don't slide forward/back, side to side or twist. The seat doesn't slide forward /back nor does it tilt. The chair can be raised and lowed and the seat back reclines, that's it for useful adjustments. There is one last feature (gimmick is more like it) where a foot rest slides out so that you can stretch out. For lack of features, I've removed a star. Workmanship: At default setting, the left armrest is higher than the right. From the back, I can see that the chair back is slightly canted to the right which explains why the right arm rest is lower than the left. For this quality and control issue, I've removed a star. Comfort: Surprisingly, my back seemed to tolerate this chair even with its many faults. I sat in the chair for a good while and my back did not hurt. The seat cushion however is a different matter, it is fairly solid and tough to sit on. Final comments: Overall, this chair could have been so much better. They should have left out the foot rest and used the extra resources to build in additional ergonomic features. Due to the high price point vs the few useful features, I can't recommend this product. ... show more

The upholstery of this chair appears to be of high quality, and the grey finish gives it a more sophisticated look; however, I will explore other color options later on. Additionally, the pre-assembled backrest and armrests are a thoughtful feature for me. Yes, the chair is comfortable (only for me and not my other family members), but the price is way too much for the limited functionality: The adjustments are identical to those on the cheaper chairs. You can raise and lower the chair, allow the back to move or keep it in the filly upright position. You can also adjust the tension on the back (reclining). I cannot say that the quality is considerably better than other decent chairs either. Yes, it does seem to be decent quality, but the vinyl back and bottom with plastic, non-padded arms is not in any way in line with the price point. You can easily get another chair for the same price with so many other features and thus a better ability to conform to your body. The casters on the bottom do not roll very well, as I have had cheaper chairs roll better. My wife and daughter have tried the chair and have complained that it is not comfortable for them. This is a testament that the customization for an ergonomic chair is lacking: How can something that is claiming to be ergonomic not be adjustable to conform to the unique shape of the seated person? For the price of this chair, I expect more out of it. Here is the breakdown: Assembly: The chair is simple to put together and assembles in about 15 minutes, depending on your skill level. Materials: They are average at best. The seating surface is soft, but the cushion is not. It also wrinkles very easily. The armrest and foot pads are made of cheap, hard plastic and do not feel good when touching them. The foot rest is a nice touch, but it is also made of the same hard plastic. Looks: This chair looks amazing in my office. Everyone who walks by compliments it and asks to sit in it. When they do. Their tone changes. So I know it's not just me. I believe you can find a better chair at a lower price point and be happy. ... show more
