I gave this 5 Stars because the TC004 Lite does appear to meet its specifications. I do have issues with the very minimal user manual, which does not describe many of the settings, how they are used, or or why they should be changed. Just playing with it over a few hours does answer many questions, but some aspects are odd, like the Emissivity settings. They are .95-Rough, .80-Rougher, .30-Smooth, and .60-Smoother. This does not make sense when you consider that a very rough surface like Asphalt is .98 and a shiny surface like polished metal is .1. You can also choose your own setting. I also needed to figure out for myself that the ENV setting (apparently) refers to the Ambient Temperature - ENVironment? Finally, other reviews of TOPDON units mentioned problems with the Windows PC interface. My older Win 10 PC had no problem setting up a driver, but File Explorer does not show the .jpeg images as Icons or Preview (see first photo) I include some actual pictures of a Door, a Ceiling, and 3 versions of Roof Rafters showing the various display options. I am reasonably happy with the TOPDON TC004 Lite, and will keep it.

This product's build quality is very good, has exceptional battery life and also comes with a handy carrying case that you can loop through your belt. It's amazing how it can detect difference in temperatures of just a couple of degrees. TopDon also has a website and support system that's been around for a number of years now so you won't be left out in the cold like you would with other no-name products that may be here today and gone tomorrow. (1-year Warranty).

For a budget model this thing is pretty great. Images aren't super clear, but certainly clear enough to see what's going on. Worth the price of admission if it's not for super critical work.

Tool works great and is accurate! Battery life is amazing and boot up time is fast. I use this to test for heated seat operation, heated mirrors, relays sticking on, and also thermostat functionality on vehicles.

I bought this as new, but it was definitely used. The front lens was dusty, and the screen had smudges. In the box, there were loose twist ties, a random black rubber band, and the charging cord was wrapped around the handle. There was also an empty bag that might’ve held the imager or its case. The device does work, but there’s a weird spot on the screen, and the battery indicator is stuck at 100%. Thinking about returning it and getting one that hasn’t been sent back a bunch of times.

This device exceeded my expectations. While a slightly lower resolution than some of the competitors out there, it is still more than adequate for diagnosing and collecting data. While the automotive industry would benefit from this most, it has many other uses as well. From finding leaks, to identifying hotspots with your PC. When I first received it I put it through the paces with the vehicles I was working on currently. However, upon sitting down at the PC to write the review with it in hand.. I just used it to identify that the heatsink on my computers m.2 drive is doing a woefully inadequate job at cooling the drive. Hooking this up to a pc is as easy as plugging in the supplied micro usb to usb A cable and browsing the device like a flash drive. I cannot emphasize just how easy they have made this device to use while still keeping all the features a veteran would expect it to have. Cheers TOPDON for another great product, I'm sending more folks your way for this gem.
