The construction seems sturdy and strong enough, but after trying it out on our car I found that the metal loop that it attaches too is pretty high up on the door frame. On other cars, it might be different, but that's something to look at before buying this. To step up that high is (a) not all that easy, and (b) feels a bit TOO high given the size of the surface. If I'm going to be that high off the ground, I want a sturdier platform--might as well get a step ladder at that point. Also, the way it rests on and braces against door frame seems like a good design, but--again, this is just with my car/yours may be different--the door frame is a contoured, shaped surface, so the step wasn't resting completely steadily. It could be something that you'd get used to after a bit of use, but given how high my car's latch hardware is, I didn't want to bother. But I won't return it--I've got a family member who is not very tall and this could be handy for her. If her car/feeling of how steady it is/comfort zone for its overall use is different, it could be really useful. And if it seems strong enough so I'll be comfortable with the safety of it, if she's ok with doing so. ... show more

This thing seemed like a genius idea, and it works great. Unfortunately, I couldn't use it on the back doors of my Chrysler Town & Country. The auto sliding doors have a curved latch, and this needs the latch to be straight to work. I imagine most modern minivans have similar curved latches. This is disappointing, as I imagine a large probable customer base is people like me with a minivan and a family's worth of crap to travel with. It worked fine on the front doors, but if you have anything mounted to your roof, you probably won't be able to reach it from there. I'll keep looking for a usable replacement. ... show more

The worst part about kayaking is not being tall enough to strap them onto an SUV (even though I’m over 6’ tall). This product solves that problem completely! Would recommend to anybody looking to make strapping kayaks down much easier.

This thing is well-designed and made of solid metal material with thick rubber on the bottom where it interacts with the vehicle body. Pay attention to the instruction video as there are two notches where the two pieces join, for gross adjustment on the angle of the step.

This little gizmo works great as a step in the front passenger side opening of our Subaru Outback. Due to the dimensions of our car it would be too high to use for the back seat door, but the front is where it is really needed. We use the top of the rear wheel as a step in that area anyway.
