I think these are wonderful! its fun just opening and closing the door to my truck and showing people how the steps work. I was kind of skeptical about the rigidity / feeling of being supported with these but they are rock solid! I like the "safety" feature and have friends that use that to keep the steps down for washing but it just seems like it would be hard on parts. I wish they would come with the on / off switch for washing up. I also would have like to see the dual port adapter included in the kit for the price it costs. Im not saying you dont get what you pay for but the price is alittle steep. AMP is an American company and Made In The USA goes a long ways with me, so the way i see it, I'm spending alittle bit more money but getting a great set of steps and keeping the jobs in the USA. Installation was not difficult.... just tedious. It took me about 5 hours with no help. Ofcourse thats from opening the box, laying it all out, reading instructions, watching YOUTUBE videos, and much self deliberation trying to decide if I could handle the task. I think with an extra pair of hands and the know-how that I now have with these, I think i could do another set in about 2 hours. Im extremely NON-mechanical but with the plug & play installation it was really no big deal. The hardest part is routing the wires, and that is really not that hard, it's just time consuming figuring out where i wanted to run the wires. I was just going to unbolt the factory steps to save me some shop time I was planning on paying, and then i was like, "I'll mount the brackets & see how that goes..." and just kept on going forward. probably saved me $300 - $400 in labor and earned me some pride in doing it myself. On a side note... I did not install the 4 lights. I had a hard time deciding if I really wanted to drill through the suggested part of the cab in between the pinch-welds for the minor illumination I would gain. I read some guys were disappointed in the light output of the included lights. So i taped up the ends of the wires, taped the tails to the main wires, and zip tied them up and out of the way. I thought about cutting the pig-tails off completely but figured i might find better lights in the future and wanted the option if that's what i want to do sometime in the future. The steps went on a Lightning Blue 2017 F150 Sport 4x4 crew cab with a 6.5' ft bed. Fabtech lift 6" in the front and 4" in the rear. Riding on a set of 35" Toyo AT's and Fuel Stroke wheels 20" X 10" with a -18 offset.

2017 F150 Standard Cab Installed this on a standard cab. Things to note as instructions do not state that it can be used on a standard cab. WILL ONLY WORK ON STANDARD CABS THAT HAVE ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY BRAKES!! This is per Amp Research tech support. Seems that with the shorter standard cab, relocating the emergency brake cable to provide clearance of running boards causes the cable to have too sharp an angle to function properly. Electronic emergency brakes do not have these cable and fortunately my truck is electronic. Because of this Amp Research has stopped marketing these for the standard cabs altogether and removed reference to them in their installation guide. Deviations to supplied installation guide. 1. Cut board length to 55" (trim 30") per note on page 3 of installation guide. I used a Sawzall equivalent effectively. 2. Step 3 relocate brake cable unnecessary. 3. Step 13 states measurement of 11" use 8" instead for standard cab. 4. Wiring harness has wiring for 4 sets of led lights (supplied). Only need two for a two door truck. Simply cut off excess length on each side of truck and tape up. Install two lamps as necessary. 5. Lamp installation shows to drill holes and add grommets (also supplied). Did not make sense to me as the wiring is already on the same side of rocker panels as motors and lamp mounting locations. Therefore I did not drill any hols or use any grommets for the lamps. Inside of rocker panels are not accessible and wiring isn't long enough if it was anyway. Still dressed neatly and securely under the truck between frame and rockers. Amp Research tech support is extremely helpful. Don't be afraid to contact them through the manufacturer website. Great product!!!

First round i was sent the wrong kit, it was easy to send back and get credit. Next one was the correct one for my truck. My grandson installed them for me. Works like a charm… My dad is 92 and was having trouble getting in and out of my truck… this has made it so much easier on him and me.

I bought this to make it easier for my 92 year old mom to get in and out of my F150. I had someone install it, because I did not want to deal with the wiring, so really can't comment on installation except to say that the installer did not have any issues. It operates as expected and the step is low enough to help my mom get in and out much easier than with the fixed factory step. I never would have bought it for myself, but now that I have it, I'm liking it! I have had it for about 3 months and, other than getting used to it suddenly appearing when I open the front or back door (some sore shins) the steps have been great, sturdy, smooth, quick and quiet. and completely unobtrusive when stowed. So far I think they are worth the cost.

A bit pricey, but worth it. Makes getting into the truck so much easier. Installing was straight forward. Took time to seal the connections and cable tie the lines. Manual instructions are more updated than the YouTube video. But definitely watch the videos. You'll need a heat gun to shrink the barrel connections.

My son and I thought that this item would not be that easy to install. How wrong we were! With barely looking at the instructions, we had the running boards mounted and wired in less than 2hrs. Not many products are as easy as they say. Now let's see how durable it is!
