  • Sturdy
Color: Matte Bronze Size: 72" Wide
Install was pretty simple, a drill really helps. I have molding and I was still able to make this work. If you want an adjustable gate that slides into itself to get smaller, I’d recommend a different gate. This one you just angle it out some and that’s how you fit into a smaller spot so it takes up a bit of room but I like the way it looks and I have space for it. It seems to be pretty sturdy and good quality. It’s easy to adjust in the space and I love how versatile it is. You can completely detach it from the wall if you want to collapse the whole thing. You have the option to keep the gate door open for however long you want. The only thing I have noticed after installing is that if you slowly close it, the bottom does not fully glide into place, only the top latch does. It seems best to let it swing shut. ... show more

  • Looks Great, Sturdy and Works Great. See How to Install with Baseboards
Color: Matte Bronze Size: 72" Wide
We bought this gate to contain our new whirlwind of a puppy, to a smaller section of the house while house training him. In the past we've used the tension kind of gate that you had to step over but that was kind of a pain. So glad we spent a little extra and got this one as it looks very nice, is sturdy and a good quality gate. It was pretty easy to install and was helpful that they provided measured templates that you can cut out and place against the wall to show where you need to put the screws in. I installed it in about 15 to 20 minutes taking my time. IMPORTANT NOTE: This gate will work perfectly if the area and two walls you are mounting it to do NOT have baseboards (or if your baseboard is very short - like an inch and a half). If you do have baseboards taller than that (like we do), you have 2 options, 1 - Cut the baseboard section out where the bottom mount will overlap. But that is a bit obtrusive and going to be a pain to repair when you decide to take the gate down. So the second option (which is the one I did), is to measure so that the bottom mount is just above/right on top of the baseboard, then measure from there to the top mount making sure the distance between mounts is still correct. When doing this, the bottom of the gate will no longer be flush with the floor. Our baseboards are only a couple of inches so it is still workable as the puppy can't fit under there (obviously). Also, you no longer have support of the floor across bottom of the gate now. So what I did to fix that was took a wooden dowel, cut two pieces to the size of the gap under each hinge point (there are only two), painted them black and then put one under each hinge so that it was a tension fit. Tip, cut the dowel just a hair long and then file it down to creep up on the right size. That sounds alot worse than it actually was and the 15 to 20 minute install did not include the wooden dowel fix. But at the end of the day, it is very sturdy, looks nice and works like a charm! We also like that it has a light spring on the gate to close it but if you open the gate all the way, it will stay open which is helpful on occassion. ... show more

  • ADD RUBBER GRIP PADS, Durable, beautiful, simple to install and use gate
Color: Warm White Size: 72" Wide
Keeping this 5 stars, but adding some user suggestions or even suggestions for the manufacturer too. 1. ADD RUBBER GRIP PADS to the bottom of each corner of the gate where it hinges and touches the floor. Do this only if installing the gate over HARD floors. This will protect your floor from children who like to push and pull and kick the gate which causes it to move slightly back and forth and cause a nice scratch in your floor if you do not have these pads. it will add more grip and keep the gate from budging at all. I bought 1.5 inch self adhesive rubber grip pads from Walmart and I found them to be perfect size. 2. If you are trying to keep a small cat or dog inside the gated area you will need to weave cardboard or some other material in and out of the bars to keep small animals from squeezing between the bars. This is almost a reason for me to remove one star, but it is such a great gate and I bought it originally for child as it is designed for anyway. Recently started fostering kittens, and up went the cardboard to keep them in kitchen till litter-box-trained. 6 months and still going strong. Fantastic product. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- original review as follows: Super easy to mount and to use. Look no further, unless you utterly refuse to drill a few holes (10 total). I have only had the gate for a week or less, but I'm convinced it's the best I have ever used and seen. There is no assembly required other than mounting the gate and making some minor adjustments by loosening and re tightening a screw or two. Only suggestion I might have is to mount the bracket that touches the floor, then put the gate on that mount, next clip the mount that goes on the upper corner then mark on the wall where you want it. This will be easier than the included paper mounting guides and it will allow you to make the gate super snug if so desired. This will also allow you to account for any potential imperfections in your floor.... or just use the included guides, whatever makes most sense to you. TIP 2: if you put this gate between a kitchen and carpeted area, I suggest putting the gate on the kitchen side so that if your children take food to the gated limit they will get messes on the hard floor and not the carpet. ... show more

  • This is the best baby gate!
Color: Warm White Size: 72" Wide
We've lived in two different houses now with toddlers, and our current home has wide doorways so our old 'compression' style gates wouldn't suffice. I splurged and bought this gate - and it's one of the best baby gear purchases I've ever made. I actually now have purchased THREE! The latch is very simple to use one-handed, the gate is very sturdy and well made, and the entire thing can be unlatched if the full doorway is needed (when grandma visits with her walker). The gate closes so easily and relatches all by itself. It installed quickly and it won't scratch our wood floors or leave marks in our carpeting. My favorite thing about the gate though is that it is as beautiful as it is functional. It's a cream-white rather than a stark white, and the little arch in the gate gives it a little charm. It fits right in with the old-world charm and character of our home. Very pleased with this product! Edited to add: We've been using this product for almost 3 years now -- 5 stars! Works as well as day one. :) ... show more

  • Great gate, but it has one big flaw... Great gate, but it has one big flaw...
Color: Matte Bronze Size: 72" Wide
We purchased this gate to surround our fireplace hearth for baby-proofing purposes. We considered using hearth pads, but most of those still don't prevent little ones from touching the fireplace cover (and we also didn't like the way they look, but that's a personal preference thing!). Our mantle is 72" wide, so we needed to purchase four of the matching extensions in order to wrap the whole thing around the mantle and attach it to the wall. Wall mounting is very easy: the gate comes with four small attachments which you mount to the wall using screws. How you do this will depend, of course, on what surface your wall is; in our case we used some heavy-duty drywall anchors and screwed the mounts to those. If you are happen to have studs located where you want to put the mounts, so much the better. Two bits of advice regarding the wall mounting process: -- If you are able to screw the wall mounts into studs, I would highly advise using your own wood screws as the screws that come with products like this are notoriously cheap. And there's no point attaching this to the wall in the first place if it's not going to be secure, right? -- The gate comes with a template you can use to mark the locations of the wall mounts, but I would suggest a different approach: First attach the lower mount to the wall, then attach the gate to the lower mount, and then connect the upper mount to the gate and mark its location. The reason I suggest this method is that the gate locks into the upper mount, so you want to be sure it is not too high or low relative to the gate. If it is too low, the gate will attach over it but won't lock into place. If you measure it yourself you can be sure it will work. Here's what we like about this gate: 1) It looks great! We purchased the brown/bronze color and it matches the look of our fireplace perfectly. It's heavy enough to be sturdy but not so heavy as to be cumbersome to position. Frankly, I'm delighted with how sturdy it is for its weight. 2) Flexibility in positioning: The "joints" where each of the side pieces attaches to the central gate can be bent to most any useful angle. In our case we have four extra attachments (see photos), so we were able to bend the entire unit around the edges of our mantle. Once you position all thd pieces the way you want them, you twist the connecting rod at each joint to lock all the pieces in place. If you want to change any of the angles, just loosen the connecting rod, make the change, and re-tighten the rod. Easy! 3) If you want to remove the gate entirely from the wall, you simply disconnect it from the wall mounts. The wall mounts are small and not really an eyesore, so we'll leave them in place until we are permanently past the baby-proofing years. A few things I'm not as happy about: 1) I would like to see a more complex unlocking mechanism for the gate itself: the door opens relatively easily by simply pushing a button at the top of the gate to unlock it. For a baby gate, this is TOO easy; I don't think it would take long for a toddler to figure out how to unlock it. Frankly, given how well made this product seems overall I'm surprised that the unlocking process is so simple. Many baby-proofing gates require a two-step process to unlock them (i.e. "lift this and push that"); this one only requires pushing a button. Because we are using this as a fireplace guard, we don't really need to open the gate, so I may secure it shut semi-permanently with plastic ties or something. For this reason, though, I would NOT recommend this gate between rooms or in any location where people would need to pass through it. This severely limits the usefulness of this gate, in my opinion. 2) We received a defective product: As shown in one of the photos, the small metal piece that locks one side of the gate to its wall mount is misshaped, preventing it from locking securely to the mount. Normally to disconnect the gate from the wall mount you have to press a spring-loaded switch to release it, but because of this defective part our gate can be lifted off one of the mounts without pressing the switch, even after it has audibly clicked into place. All in all, we are very satisfied with this as a fireplace guard because I can rig it so it doesn't open, but because the gate unlocking mechanism is too easy for a toddler to figure out I would NOT recommend this if people need to pass through it. ... show more

  • Amazing Gates! Amazing Gates!
Color: Matte Bronze Size: 72" Wide
This gate is perfect! We have a unique entrance to the bottom of our stairs. It’s very wide and the mounting wall/pillar are not parallel. We needed something that could span the entire bottom width and adapt to the differing angles. We tried custom gate makers but they would only build something a few steps up. With a baby, we didn’t think that would be wise. We also tried one of those more fabric-style gates that pull closed. Those left too much of a gap underneath and because of the width of the stairs at the bottom, it was almost impossible to open and close one-handed and very difficult to do two-handed. This gate is amazing! We’ve had 2 of these for over a year and they work perfectly. Even if our stairs weren’t unique, I’d still recommend. The gate itself is made of sturdy metal. It’s easy to install. The opening is self-closing and latches with little effort. It’s very easy to operate one-handed but a baby or toddler wouldn’t be able to open it. The gate goes all the way to the floor and can be easily removed from the brackets and used to block other entryways or set aside if moving furniture up and down the stairs. I’ve used them on several occasions to corral the dogs in the kitchen. Also, because the gates are sectional and hinged, it means they can be adjusted to fit openings that are not symmetrical. Anyway, these are well worth the money! ... show more

  • Awesome gate !!
Color: Matte Bronze Size: 72" Wide
This gate is really awesome !! I have never imagined that a gate could bring so much beauty to the room. I got so many compliments from friends & family. The main purpose of this gate is to stop our 3 furbabies from going into the formal living and upstairs and it really serves the purpose. I had my doubts about installing this gate by my self when I ordered but installation was a breeze. I have crown moldings at the bottom and my solution for this was to mount the gate above the molding. The only minor problem with this gate is the latching button used to open the gate, I found it to be a little difficult to press down to open the gate. The best feature of this gate is that you can easily remove it when not needed. For the price I payed I could not ask for more. The brown color goes very well with my decor and the quality of the gate is really sturdy. I would highly recommend this gate !! An added plus to this gate system is that it's extremely easy to disconnect from the mounting brackets and collapse against one of the walls, either full-extended or folded in on itself. It's very convenient for when we have people over and don't need to bother with the gate, or when we're moving larger stuff around and need it out of the way. I couldn't imagine having a gate without that feature after having this one. The only reason I'm knocking this gate a star is the mounting hardware. It doesn't include drywall anchors, so unless you provide them yourself you'll have to find studs to screw into or your baby is probably going to rip the gate off the walls by the time he/she is 2 years old. I always keep a wide variety of drywall anchors on hand because they're cheap and greatly increase the mounting options I have for things like this. I used 75lb drywall anchors for each upper mounting bracket, and that leads to my 2nd issue with this gate... If you have baseboards in the area you're wanting to install this gate, you won't be able to use the lower mounting brackets without damaging the baseboards, which I refused to do. That's why I really went for the overkill on the upper brackets. The lower mounts are positioned at the very bottom of the gate itself, and not midway up the end poles like on some other gates. So unless you want to install the gate floating in the air at least the height of your baseboards, or you don't mind ruining your baseboards and needing to replace them later, you won't be able to use the lower brackets. Having said that, with the drywall anchors we really don't miss having the lower brackets. I can shake the gate myself and it won't budge, let alone when my son tries. The gate is built extremely well and is very sturdy, even without those bottom brackets (though with my added drywall anchors). It's easy to take down and put back up thanks to the quick-connect/disconnect clips on the end panels. All in all, I'd recommend this gate 100% to anyone and would buy one for every large area I needed to fence off in my house if I actually had any more areas. ... show more
