Very sturdy and super easy to assemble and install. It doesn't include keyed locks so don't forget to order those. Installed and locked down, this basket isn't going anywhere. A bit expensive considering some baskets that are a little more basic geometry, but dimensionally similar, are less than half of the cost of this unit. On my 2017 VW Alltrack I have experienced almost no degradations in fuel economy, less than 0.5mpg loss at worst and no loss at best. Super happy my MPG's didn't tank wearing this as a car hat.

Overall, this roof basket is of high-quality and performs well. It’s well-constructed, and I encountered no issues when attaching it to the Mopar (Jeep) roof rack. The packaging in which it arrived is large enough to provide isolation during the application of Plasti Dip, which I used to cover the numerous, unsightly THULE logos on the basket. It would be a welcome improvement if a fully blacked-out version were available straight from the factory. I see no need to adorn my vehicle with advertisements for a Swedish company that manufactures roof baskets in China.

I bought the Thule cargo rack to go with my Thule xporter pro. Like most luggage racks, there are no moving pieces and it is fairly easy to assemble. Attaching to your roof rack is a bit more of a hassle. The directions are designed for the illiterate and have no words on them, just small pictures that make it difficult to understand how the parts go together. I recommend using a YouTube video. Spacing the cross bars to the right distance seems to be the most difficult part, especially for my application as I also have the hullavator pro kayak rack attached to the xporter. For what you get, it is very expensive. I primarily went with Thule because it matches the xporter pro. The rack scratched relatively easily during installation. I was not impressed with the attachment brackets as they are made of plastic and are part of the assembly that holds the basket to the roof rack. The bolts screw into plastic, they don’t even have a metal nut on the end, and look like they will not last very long. This seems to be a potential safety hazard. You can buy 4 locks to secure this to your roof, but that will set you back another $60. Also, the locks can be easily defeated by cutting the plastic bracket with a box cutter. If you park on the street with this, you will have to get a bike lock or it will likely be stolen. Thule must make a lot on these locks. Other racks brands I’ve purchased include the locks for free. I was very surprised that Thule would have such cheap attachments that can wear out and cause a safety hazard or result in the product being easily stolen. I haven’t used it yet, but plan on looking into getting metal brackets for this item.

i've had this on my vehicle for almost a year now and it works great. empty basket on my 2018 honda pilot and i still average 21 mpg over the last 10,000 miles. wind noise only becomes a factor if the sunroof is open other than that, i hear no difference. if I had to gripe, i do lose garage clearance for my home and some parking structures as it puts my height at 6' 8" so some minor scraping in some public garages. Other than that, the usage is solid, have gone camping and even put a power wheel box up there and ratcheted everything down and still managed over 20 mpg in both occasions. It'd be worth while to buy the extension to get a bit more space out of it.

This rack is great. I debated whether to purchase this or go with the aluminum Thule Trail XT Basket, Medium . I'm glad I chose this particular model because it is stronger, can carry more and it is easier to strap (the kind of things i carry, anyway) stuff to it; looks fantastic too. You even can mount light bars, shovels and other things to it with a little creativity (see my review on the Yakima Snap Round/Square - Set of 4 be aware that this is the newer model, as there is another NOT named XT which is similar but of slightly different shape, so the extension of this one does not fit the other model and vice-versa. I agree with other reviewers in that instructions for assemble are somewhat tricky. I researched other websites in order to be well aware on how to put it together beforehand and even then I was a bit puzzled at times. I recommend purchasing the locks ( Thule 544 Lock Cylinders for Car Racks (4-Pack),4 Pack ) but of course this is only a deterrent, as any determined thief aided with darkness, time and tools on his hands will find a way to defeat or break any lock and take off with your expensive rack; however with the locks on they will probably not attempt it as it will take time to take the rack off the car and it is not exactly light anyway.

Great I was able to purchase in discount for a “brand new damaged box cargo basket” but it was definitely used previously. The two pieces were warped and I had to use a mallet to join together, screws and assembly pieces weren’t contained in original packaging.. that being said I don’t mind the scratches and dings cause that’s literally what it’s used for. Highly recommend this product but beware if you’re getting the “open box” deal

My husband was able to decipher the instructions. I couldn't really understand them. It was mainly photos and arrows. No bags were labeled. The instructions didn't say what was in what bag. The were clear bags, so you could see what was inside, but without him I would have been lost. After the rack was mounted in place there are these four cover pieces that go over the screws and rubber/bendy plastic pieces. They use plastic screws that we had to force in and turn while using force. I broke the last one trying to turn it. It broke into several tiny piece. I had to run to lowes and come up with a new plan which was a wing nut and a long bolt to keep the cover on. I get worse gas mileage with the rack onto of my car. I still love it. Really gives me a lot of extra space. I can throw stuff up there and strap it down. It's great.
