I work as a professional auto technician and have been looking to replace an aging snap on scan tool but didn't want to spend 10k on a new one, so I found out about this and figured I couldn't really go wrong for the money. The best part is it's wireless. Already a step up from the Modis I was using. The screen is very bright and vivid. It is already compatible with FCA vehicles so I don't have to fuss with authorization. It's relatively quick as well, system scans don't take as long as my old scanner used to, the navigation is very intuitive. A super helpful part is when you pull codes, so long as you're connected to a network, you can actually navigate to Google and this thing will also play YouTube videos. Was super impressed there. I have been using it for a solid week, every day and have logged data streams, you can save vehicle scans and data, I wasn't expecting it to be this useful. Very VERY helpful tool at a fraction of the price the big names charge, with almost all of the same features. I think I'll be keeping this one! ... show more

Rating would be 5 stars IF/WHEN Thinkcar scanners can again be registered with Autoauth for FCA vehicles. I'm a value-driven DIYer with late model RAM 1500 and Volvo XC60. The MAX 2 was the best I tried, especially considering cost of ownership. It took installing Security Gateway Module (SGM) cable extenders and a 12+8-pin SGM by-pass cable to be able to clear codes and perform resets/calibrations. I had reasonable access to the SGM to install the extension cable - some FCA vehicles require removing the touch screen to access the SGM - a non-starter for me. It's rather intuitive to use (manual isn't much help) and reasonably responsive. Yes, it relies heavily on an Internet connection to do many things, but I was able to perform the OBD Scan function without a connection. I found this to be the best value option for my vehicles, and it clearly supports many more brands. Tech support is pretty good also. UPDATE: I have successfully registered the device w/AutoAuth, diagnosed my RAM through the SGW module, and CLEARED DTCs! Hence, the change up to 5 stars. ... show more

It says alot of features but unfortunately some of the features are for small amount of cars not for the majority. It is good with scanning codes only which you can do with much cheaper devices. Otherwise many features you have pay for them not as describes are free. Free features are for some cars. I wanted to calibrate tire size and it just worked for around 9 companies. I have fancy scan tools from expensive brands and this thing does a majority of the things they will do for a fraction of the price. The value here is insane. I can also say confidently that none of these have a place to store to wireless dongle. This tool has a slot right on the bottom for it so you don't constantly have to track it down. lo compre hace 12 meses y louse unas 3 veces hace uño y luego lo quice usar hace 2 semanas y no enciende mas lo puse a cargar todo un dia y aun no enciende y el cargador funcina luego les llame y fue muy muy dificel poder comunicarme con ellos y hoy 30/01/24 puede hablar con ellos solo para que me dicen q no tiene GARANTIA y no pueden hacer nada . lo unico que pueden hacer es venderme una bateria pero la bateria esta soldada ala targeta madre . pague mas de $ 400 lo uses 3 veces y praticamente no pueden hacer nada . This tool is a great code reader. This tools main purpose is to read codes and live data. They are manufacturer specific so not just generic P0 codes. The platform is android based and very easy to navigate. All the thinkcar software works about the same. Lifetime updates is a huge plus too! It shows live data and manufacturers codes, and maintenance resets does not have component activation. My honest opinion is you can get a cheaper reader to do most of the same functions or go for the next step up that allows alot more functions. If your using this tool beyond being a weekend warrior i would personally go to the next model up. Thinkcar has been a good tool with good customer service and i would recommend them to anyone. ... show more

Im a youtuber, Master Tech Lou. I often purchase products for reviews on my channel. I also am a Mercedes Benz dealer technician so I know the demands and obstacles technicians and mechanics face when needing to diagnose cars. This scanner is extremely thorough with bidirectional capabilities and I use it often in place of the factory scanner just due to ease of use. Love the full system scan and the report it gives after that. Very good data display and seems to be very fast updating the data. Being Bluetooth is a great addition. Can walk around a vehicle with it and check things while still looking at data.
