I have used it twice now. And it works beautifully. I cooked two steaks this last time with both probes,one and one steak and the other in the other one. I purposely did this because the one steak was fatter than the other one. The thinner steak was done first I took it out let the other one go a little longer.     • Simple cheap wireless thermometer probes

Moving into a place with primitive ovens without built in temperature probes, I needed a reasonable surrogate. These are quite reasonably priced for a pair of probes with good specs. Unlike some newer models, these transmit to a dedicated base rather than your cell phone. Simple to use. Stick into meat or item to be cooked and turn on battery powered base unit. Return to base when done so probe can be recharged and ready for next use. Of course, unlike a probe built into the oven, they can not automatically control the cooking process. Each probe provides oven temperature and temperature of probe stuck into item that is cooking. Probes appear more accurate than my KitchenAid ovens, but have not done detailed testing of accuracy. As with all probe brands, be careful to not put probe in an oven/grill that exceeds probes maximum temperature. Also sensor should be inserted far enough into cooking item that food temperature sensors not exposed to oven temperature that exceeds their (lower) maximum food temmperature. ... show more

    • Connects through walls pretty reliably.

So far it seems to be working good (still in 1st smoke with it). The proves actually charge as long as they are properly seated, so not having to sit and turn it on over and over. Not needing an app is a plus to me. What if you're in a campground with no Wi-Fi, or the power is out? This one will work in a power outage. Overall build quality feels decent, no shaky buttons etc. Probes have numbers so you put them in the correct slot for charging. Probes feel stout and the tips are nice and sharp. Biggest downside to me so far are the control buttons. They are hard for me to read, as they are not backlit, and they are the same color as the surrounding area in the face plate, so they're hard for me to read. I'd consider better contrast or backlit buttons. Contrast would be the more battery saving way to go. Build quality seems pretty decent, better than the knockoff I bought first that looked similar but didn't get the job done. The ambient temp is not going to be real accurate. I researched online, and most smoking sites say NONE of these thermometers are accurate for ambient temps, even the crazy expensive ones. I basically compared it to the smoker thermometer and use the compared temp to set any alarms. I'll see if the NIST certification for probe accuracy is worth the paper. All in all, it gets the job done, maintains connections through some walls and metal doors, and it does have a magnet if you want to stick it on a metal surface. The magnet isn't super strong, so I just use the stand, which is great. As a new smoker user, this works well and doesn't break the bank. ... show more

    • Big improvement over wired probes

Have used remote thermometers for years. This remotes one downside is you can’t use it at startup to tell when grill is up to temperature and ready to put the meat on, as probes END has to be in meat so you can’t put probes in grill at startup. Directions say end of probe is not to be in grill unless it is inside meat? This thermometer is more accurate as I have always cooked steaks to 120 degrees that is medium rare, with mew thermometer you have to cook to 130 degrees for same doneness. Have not smoked meat with, will update when I do. Distance is better then any remote I have used, no pairing needed, no wires is nice, putting probes into meat in kitchen before going out to grill is nice, no battery at grill, no unit left in the weather at grill. Hope now if it lasts? At this point will buy again. ... show more

Outstanding quality and incredible customer service. I purchased my Thermomaven 3000FT and enjoyed it for 6 months. During that time the accuracy of the temperature sensor, menu options for the type of meat and doneness level made grilling easy! Burgers, Chicken, Pork and Fish came off the grill when it was supposed to. I recently found a problem with one of the temp sensors, it had an error code of Over-Temperature and wouldn't clear -I contacted Thermomaven Customer Service to purchase a replacement Probe. On the call a few basic questions were asked and the representative let me know they would sent me a replacement. I was blown away by the efforts the team went through to help me resolve my issue and highly recommend Thermomaven. They've definitely earned a customer for life! ... show more
