Description

A hidden treasure. A centuries-old mystery. And a growing love built on lies. Archaeologist Elizabeth Jensen’s life is defined by the dirt and history of her South African dig sites. But her greatest discovery isn't found in a trench—it’s right there in her house. When she inherits a family piano linked to a Boer War mystery, she refuses to sell, determined to protect the history and the family ties the heirloom represents. She didn't count on Carl Von Henselt's determination to own it. Sophisticated and charming, the German concert pianist claims to be captivated by the piano’s history. In reality, he’s hunting for the key to a legendary treasure. His plan is simple: romance the archaeologist, find the key, and leave. But he’s not the only one with a hidden agenda. Lizzy isn't sure she can trust him and has a plan of her own. As they sift through the echoes of the past, a real connection takes root. For Lizzy, Carl could be the man God intends for her, the man she's waited for. For Carl, Lizzy is a reminder of the man of integrity and faith he could be. As the mystery unravels, they must both decide if finding the treasure is worth the cost. Will their secrets and deceptions bury their chance at love, or can they find the courage to step into the light and trust the future God has planned? A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER Marion Ueckermann was a beautiful and gifted South African storyteller and world traveller, who published over twenty-five sweet and tender Christian romances, often with a hint of mystery, as well as poetry, devotionals, and a memoir of her father. The Piano is the first book she ever wrote, set aside to be edited and published "some day" while she worked on other stories and lived life to the full as a busy and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Sadly COVID took her before she was able to revise and release the novel.I loved Marion like a sister and missed her so much, especially our late-night story brainstorming sessions as we worked together on multiple group projects and so often had the exact same ideas for plot and character at the exact same time! So I was honoured when her family asked if I'd help get the story published in her memory, and out to the readers who remember and miss her. Wow, what a story! I didn't want to stop reading it, and couldn't stop thinking about the characters when I wasn't reading it! It's an adventure, a mystery, and a tender romantic love story, wrapped up with plenty of travel. I hope you enjoy this emotional journey of faith, romance, and finding the future God intends as much as I did! Blessings, Autumn Macarthur (editor, publisher, and friend) For Marion (1960-2021) -- a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul, and so very loved. Now with Jesus. Read more

  • This Book Was Sooo Worth the Wait!
Format: Kindle
I had heard that this author's first story that she wrote was unpublished, and was excited to see it was finally available. The mystery was intriguing and compelling to read! This author always includes little nuggets of history and truth in her books, and exposes the reader to other languages and culture, which she did also in this one. I have learned so much from her! And like always, she is superb in writing Christian romance, as well as an amazing artist, which her cover clearly shows. ... show more

  • Amazing Book
Format: Paperback
What a fantastic story full, of love and intrigue. Lizzy an archeologist loves digging for the unknown. She is from South Africa. Lizzy, her professor Jacque, her friend MiaGrace, and David their other coworker are currently digging up a skeleton and trying to figure out the mystery behind it. There has been talks of a hidden treasure for decades. Carl a German, and famous pianist decides to meet Lizzy to see if he can find clues to the hidden treasure that he believes are hidden in a piano that she has inherited. He not only finds new friends, and love, but he finds the greatest treasure of all God. I love that this story puts God front and center. This is how Marion Ueckermann lived her life. She lived her life for God first and then her husband, kids, and grandkids. I miss her so much. This book is truly a treasure, a must read. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loved Marion and even if you haven’t read any of her books you will love this book. I also recommend that you read all of her books they are all amazing. ... show more

  • I recommend this clean, faith-based story
Format: Kindle
Lizzy Jensen was an archaeologist in South Africa. She and three others were hired to uncover some human bones. The dig had to be kept top secret because there was evidence that it could lead to nearly 2 million solid gold rands (13 million dollars). If the public learned of this possibility pandemonium would surely follow. I'm sure you are wondering what that has to do with a piano... Lizzy owns a very old, rare piano. At one time she posted an ad to sell the piano, but changed her mind and pulled the ad a couple days later. However, Carl VonHenselt of Germany saw the ad and flew to South Africa to talk to Lizzy about buying the piano. Carl had an ulterior motive for wanting this particular piano, but the more he got to know Lizzy the less his motive meant to him. I enjoyed reading the effect Lizzy had on Carl and his faith. She had prior plans to lead some Bible studies with her friends so she included Carl. The more he was around Lizzy the stronger his interest in the Bible and his interest in a relationship with Jesus. This is a clean, faith-based, contemporary romance with some mystery and suspense. I definitely recommend it. I was given an ARC of this story but all thoughts and comments are mine, given voluntarily. ... show more

  • Fantastic book featuring the archeologist and the concert pianist
Format: Kindle
Lizzy is surprised to receive an offer to buy her great-great-great grandmother’s piano. She is even more surprised when she meets the man behind the offer and suspects his motives. Carl is drawn to Lizzy, but he has a secret. Can he share his true motive with her? Lizzy is a believer, but Carl is not. Will this be a problem for Lizzy? This is a very interesting Christian romance. It has something for everyone: romance, salvation, history, faith, treasure hunt, riddles, and travel. The characters are well-developed and likeable. The descriptions of scenery, clothing, and décor are detailed and beautiful, making you feel you are actually seeing them. The plot is involved and keeps the reader wondering how the situations will be resolved – and who will wind up with the girl. I have never read a book based in South Africa, and I found it quite interesting. Who would have ever thought to put an archeologist and concert pianist together? I received a copy of this book from the editor. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased. ... show more

  • The Piano
Format: Paperback
I loved this heartwarming love story between Elizabeth (Lizzy) and Carl. Lizzy is an archaeologist from South Africa looking for gold coins and diamonds that may be connected to a dig she and her coworkers are working on. Carl is a concert pianist from Germany who is searching for gold coins that may be hidden in a grand piano that Lizzy inherited. The mystery they are both working on turns out to be connected and when Carl comes to South Africa to see the piano, he and Lizzy connect once they start trusting each other. The ending is great and I highly recommend this beautiful love story written by an author who died before it was published. Thanks to her family they have another author getting it ready to publish and I am honored to receive a copy to read and review. This is my voluntary and honest review. ... show more
