I love reading, especially romance. This is now one of my favorite books of all time. This is the saddest, most beautiful love story ever. I went through ALL motions. โจThis love story follows B and Jamie from when they first meet as teenagers in high school and spans well into their early thirties. I was hooked from the first chapter, and knew Iโd love it. They are the epitome of right person wrong time. (All the time) A lot of missed chances, HORRIBLE timing, them being with other people but still pinning over each other ๐ฉ it was written so well. You can feel their love and frustration reading this and I felt so bad for them at every time they thought they got it right but then something would happen and it goes so wrong. But..it does get a happy ending (thank god) and while the whole story until like 60% was Bโs POV you did get Jamieโs POV by the end and it was the sweetest thing ever. Jamie is another book boyfriend unlocked.๐seeing how he truly felt about her since day one. ๐ฉ Because the story starts with B saying โI saw him first but, it didnโt matter because he saw herโ but then you get Jamieโs side and you will swoon so hard.๐ฅนI will forever think about this book and their story ๐ซถ๐ฝ if youโre thinking about reading this book please just do it! ๐

Good gosh. This book had my stomach in knots, my heart pounding, and my emotions teetering on the edge from start to finish. I havenโt felt this kind of visceral reaction to a story in a long time. The hype around itโthe angst, the tears, the heartbreakโis 100% real, and I can honestly say it absolutely lived up to every expectation. This story is the definition of a rollercoaster. The highs and lows are gut-wrenching but so worth it. Longing, miscommunication, and timing (or lack thereof). The way B and Jamie orbit around each other through the years is nothing short of infuriating, yet addictive. Jamieโs POV added so much depth and understanding & it helped soften what might otherwise feel toxic. If you read this book without his perspectiveโHOW? It truly balances the story and shows that love isnโt always clean or easy, but sometimes itโs the messy, complicated parts that make it unforgettable. Thank you for adding this, Kandi, because I would have a lot of questions/frustrations had you not ๐

I was not warned about this book!!! These characters got on my last nerveโฆAND I LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT!!! They stayed with me the entire story and even after. The POV of the guy at the end was a nice touch to the ending. I liked dual POVsโฆit gives me the story from both sides.

Moment of truth: I have tried to read this book before, but the beginning immediately put me off. But then Kandi release the Anniversary edition, and I spoiled myself to the paperback, and I'm so glad I did. As a reader, I enjoyed this story beyond words. It was un-put-downable. I read late into the night, early into the morning, and couldn't get enough. It frustrated me, made me cry, made me laugh andI wanted to throttle Jamie and Beck so many times! But what a story! As an author, and an editor, I feel in love with how beautifully the story was written and crafted. The plot was so intricate, and not every author can do it the way Kandi did. The characters were so well-developed, and the character arc and story arc so beautifully obvious, I must admit I was in AWE. And as a whiskey lover, I could appreciate the similes and metaphors, and yes, Jamie was the whiskey, and Beck the barrel that aged and refined him while we waited with baited breath to see if these two lovers would FINALLY come full circle and end up together. Fabulous. Just fabulous.
