Kelly or Pixie Hart as everyone knows her needs a break from the celebrity lifestyle. She is a popular country singer and she is needs some time away from the spot light and everyone in it. She's been on for too long and she needs some time to be alone and recharge in a secluded cabin in the woods. But her brother isn't having it. He doesn’t want her alone without any protection, which makes sense since she's a pop star. So he enlists Xander to watch over her but doesn’t really mention it to her. Xander shows up and isn't really impressed by Kelly nor is she impressed by him. She's a bit annoyed with him and acts like a brat. I can understand that she wants time to herself but she has to understand how unsafe it is when you’re a music artist. Anyways this is proven to her when she posted a pic and people started narrowing down her location. Xander's had to deal with his far share of celebrities that extremely self absorbed so he's thinking Kelly's no different and she started to prove him right until she realized that he was just doing his job and keeping her safe. After they are basically at each other's throats somehow things change and there's a tension between them. A tension that neither one of them can ignore. And then things start to change and we see something start to blossom between the two. Kelly is perky and more of a sunshine personality, this leads to some of the people in her life taking advantage of her which always sucks. It was great to see her stand up for herself and not let the people in her life push her around or just accept something to go with the flow. She needs to leave her ex completely alone from the beginning, he annoyed me every time he was brought up in the book. Xander was steadfast and there for her, he also helped boost her confidence to believe she deserved the things in her life. This was a good book and I enjoyed the characters but I have to say Runaway Love is my favorite so far. I just felt like I connected with the characters better. ... show more

Kelly and Xander are just too cute! This book is absolutely incredible. Read it in 3 hours! I couldn’t put it down. Kelly is a big name in the music industry but she’s tired of being in the limelight. What she needs is a vacation. But what vacation would be complete without a God-like man taking care of you and protecting you with a fierceness you didn’t know existed. Xander Buckley is a former SEAL turned personal security so he’s been tasked with protecting Kelly with everything in him. And he’s taking that job very seriously…..until he gets used to Kelly’s playfulness and he can’t seem to keep his eyes off of her or her out of his head. Problem is he’d be crossing a personal boundary but it’s getting harder to stay on the right side of that line. This book is fast paced and incredibly written. Cherry Tree Harbor has become one of my favorite fictional places and I never want to leave it. This book is funny and snarky, sweet and spicy and the banter is soooo good. I literally could not put this book down! It had all the right feel good moments and the storyline was sooo good. Let’s not forget the hot and steamy parts 😍. I fell in love with these two main characters. Definitely a must read!

This was a fast paced read but I need the man to YEARN for his woman. Don’t get me wrong, Xander is a 10/10 man but I didn’t feel like he was YEARNING for Kelly.

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This was perfection. There really isn’t any other way to adequately describe just how great the writing, how sweet the story, and how hot the spice. This book filled me with so many feelings, I legitimately squealed out loud and thought my heart was going to spontaneously combust. Melanie Harlow is a small town romance goddess! I’ve read several of her books, and she knows how to give the readers something that‘s inherently comforting but still always surprising. And I think this one might just be my favorite! Kelly Jo Sullivan just wants a break from her country stardom life as Pixie Heart for a couple weeks, so she rents a secluded cabin in the woods. Unfortunately for Kelly, everyone wants a piece of her, and so her brother hires a body guard to protect her, one she won’t be able to shake. Xander is a former navy seal and a man of honor, so when a buddy who saved his life asks for a favor, Xander says yes. Too bad the last thing Kelly wants on her vacation is company. If I tried to name all the parts about this book that I loved, I would basically have to highlight from cover to cover. The push and pull between Kelly and Xander is some of my favorite banter I’ve read in a while, their attraction is instantaneous, and the tension sky high. I love the spice, the way they open up to each other, and the way they challenge each other in the healthiest ways. But what makes this book special is the notion of trust. Xander may be overbearing and protective, but he gives Kelly what she needs at every turn. He tells her she can trust him, and then every action backs that up. It’s beautiful to watch because it just makes their connection so much deeper. Xander also makes Kelly trust in herself and her own power, and some of the scenes between them left me speechless with my heart fluttering in my chest. And then he trusts her in return, surrendering himself and his fears to her like he knows she will keep him safe too. I cried. My heart didn’t know what to do with the emotion and it came out as tears, because I loved this so much and felt so much! And the spice! The spice. This book was dirty and sweet at the same time, and that delicious filth was top notch and scorching hot! So so good, and there was one scene that had me full out sweating! You will know which one when you read! Overall I don’t have a single negative thing to say except I’m sad it’s over and I’m pretty sure I’m ruined for all eternity because of this! If you love small town romance, rockstar vibes and a kick ass MMC with a sassy firecracker FMC, Drop everything else and read this! Highly Recommend to ♾️! ... show more
