RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This was perfection. There really isn’t any other way to adequately describe just how great the writing, how sweet the story, and how hot the spice. This book filled me with so many feelings, I legitimately squealed out loud and thought my heart was going to spontaneously combust. Melanie Harlow is a small town romance goddess! I’ve read several of her books, and she knows how to give the readers something that‘s inherently comforting but still always surprising. And I think this one might just be my favorite! Kelly Jo Sullivan just wants a break from her country stardom life as Pixie Heart for a couple weeks, so she rents a secluded cabin in the woods. Unfortunately for Kelly, everyone wants a piece of her, and so her brother hires a body guard to protect her, one she won’t be able to shake. Xander is a former navy seal and a man of honor, so when a buddy who saved his life asks for a favor, Xander says yes. Too bad the last thing Kelly wants on her vacation is company. If I tried to name all the parts about this book that I loved, I would basically have to highlight from cover to cover. The push and pull between Kelly and Xander is some of my favorite banter I’ve read in a while, their attraction is instantaneous, and the tension sky high. I love the spice, the way they open up to each other, and the way they challenge each other in the healthiest ways. But what makes this book special is the notion of trust. Xander may be overbearing and protective, but he gives Kelly what she needs at every turn. He tells her she can trust him, and then every action backs that up. It’s beautiful to watch because it just makes their connection so much deeper. Xander also makes Kelly trust in herself and her own power, and some of the scenes between them left me speechless with my heart fluttering in my chest. And then he trusts her in return, surrendering himself and his fears to her like he knows she will keep him safe too. I cried. My heart didn’t know what to do with the emotion and it came out as tears, because I loved this so much and felt so much! And the spice! The spice. This book was dirty and sweet at the same time, and that delicious filth was top notch and scorching hot! So so good, and there was one scene that had me full out sweating! You will know which one when you read! Overall I don’t have a single negative thing to say except I’m sad it’s over and I’m pretty sure I’m ruined for all eternity because of this! If you love small town romance, rockstar vibes and a kick ass MMC with a sassy firecracker FMC, Drop everything else and read this! Highly Recommend to ♾️! ... show more

    • Wonderful bodyguard romance!
This was a great story! I liked that Xander was doing a favor to pay a friend back, when he agreed to provide security for a famous singer. It was definitely not what the wanted to be doing, while working on opening up his new bar. Kelly felt same and didn't want him around. They had some great banter at the beginning, and that turned into some serious chemistry the longer they were around each other. I thought the way the story unfolded was wonderful. It kept me wondering who was leaking Kelly's location. I loved Xander's intuition and ability to make her feel safe. I loved these characters, as well as the supporting cast.     • I loved their relationship. Goals!
A new Melanie Harlow book is a must read for me. Always. This story continues the Cherry Tree Harbor series, but could absolutely be read as standalone. I actually loved the way this story was so different, but in a familiar world. It was fun to have Melanie explore the celebrity role, and I loved that the country singer was the heroine. The way Kelly and Xander fell for each, quickly moving from not liking each other to not resisting the other was perfection. Everything happened in a matter of days, but it was so easy to see why and how it happened. They were perfect for each other. Kelly Jo Sullivan was such a wonderful heroine. She was so easy to relate to. She wants to get ahead in her career, and she knows not bucking the system is what works. Unfortunately that wasn’t working for her personally. From early on in the story, I loved the support she got from Xander. There were so many quick check ins with her and her feelings throughout the story. I know the big guestures are fun in books, but Xander felt real and supportive and kind and trustworthy. He made Kelly grow in confidence not because of what he told her, but how he showed her true support. I loved their relationship. Goals! This was another fabulous one from Melanie Harlow! I love Melanie Harlow books! They are so well written and have so much warmth and happiness to them. There is always going to be angst in romance but Melanie knows just the right amount!! I can’t wait to read the next book in the Cherry Tree Harbor series!! One and two were fantastic.

    • I wanted more from it
Kelly is going on a 2 week vacation and truly getting away from her career in Nashville. Everyone close to her wants her to have a bodyguard. Enter Xander. Xander owes Kelly’s brother his life after serving overseas together. Xander agrees even though Kelly doesn’t want a bodyguard and he has his own job he is getting ready for. Xander falls hard for Kelly. And he is willing to do anything for her. I loved the forced proximity and one bed tropes. In true Melanie fashion there are little snippets of Corinne Michaels stories and I love that. It won’t impact your reading if you haven’t read hers but it does add to it if you have. Guys. I wanted to love this one. But I just didn’t. All the parts were there but it missed for me. I will read the rest of the series and more of Melanie Harlow but this one just wasn’t my favorite. ... show more
