Description

Working as a nanny for the world's grumpiest single dad should be simple…except she can't keep her eyes off him. And he can't keep his hands off her.Cade Eaton is thirteen years older than Willa Grant, and he barely looks her way, even though she's living in his house for the summer. That is, until she gets him into the hot tub one night for a game of truth or dare. So who is she to resist? But it's in their quietest moments together that he softens. It's in the unexpected way he takes care of Willa that she realizes his hardened exterior is just a façade. • I stinking loved this
Format: Kindle
I love me a good grumpy hero and Cade is the full package. He is weighed down with responsibility and duty to the point he doesn’t allow frivolity to have a place in his life. Has been that way since he was eight. He is grumpy and doesn’t have much to smile about taking care of his brothers, his ranch, his son and warding off any other disappointment in life. But then Willa saunters into his life like a Gail force wind with inappropriate jokes to ease the tension and without a care in the world except to the few she is loyal to. She loosens up the strangle hold he has on his heart and he grounds her in a way that makes her feel secure in her own skin. They really do complete each other. And Luke was the perfect addition to the story. He seemed like a realistic little boy in the mix which a lot of romances fail to get the kid in the mix right. But E Silver did it well. I also loved that they don’t linger too long ever in miscommunication land too long. They are both bold with their emotions and insecurities. Mini spoiler - this had one of my fav tropes when done right and that’s the surprise preggo trope. It’s done well. It didn’t overshadow the relationship and it was believable that it was an accident. I like how healthily they overcame the hurdle. I will say that the culmination of the romance and story was a little more quiet than the others I’ve read by the author. Little less dramatic but I think that matched Cades personality more. But that was overshadowed by the epic spice scenes in this one. Man Cade is a heart throb for sure. ... show more

  • love it
Format: Kindle
This is book 2 in the Chestnut Springs Series and follows Cade and Willa.
Cade is a single dad who is looking for someone to care for his young son, Luke, while he works on the ranch. Everyone who applies, wants the job simply to get close to him. When Summer suggests her best friend Willa, Cade accepts, having run out of other options. Willa enters like a tornado, quickly enrapturing Luke and Cade alike. While the two are clearly attracted to each other, Cade is worried about their age gap and the cliche of sleeping with the nanny. ﹒ ﹒ ﹒ ﹒ ﹒ ﹒ Woof. This book. I’m not usually a fan of the single dad trope, but Daddy Cade can totally get it. Everything in this book was *chefs kiss* perfection. The tension, the banter, the dirty talk - all of it was simply perfect. I loved reading how Cade had his internal struggles before overcoming them, and how Willa came into her own. I really enjoy reading strong FMCs, and Willa is one of the stronger ones I’ve read. Tropes: - “Mine” - Single Dad - Small Town - Age Gap - Grumpy x Sunshine - Cowboy Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ ... show more

  • Save a horse....
Format: Paperback
OH. MY. GIDDY UP. If I could tattoo this book on my heart, I would, cowboy boots, flannel, backwards hats and all. Heartless by Elsie Silver is not just a romance; it’s a full body experience that made me laugh like a drunk raccoon, had me kicking my feet like a school girl and there were so many moments I looked at my imaginary audience like "y'all seeing this!!???!!" Daddy Cade, the grumpy single dad rancher with the emotional range of a brick wall… until she walks in. And who is she? The sunshine nanny who could melt steel with her sass and break generational trauma with her guitar skills. The slow burn between them? SO DELICIOUSLY TORTUROUS I had to fan myself with the book. Every chapter was a rodeo of emotions. One moment I was giggling like an idiot at the banter, the next I was staring at the wall whispering, “They’re so in love and they don’t even know it.” The chemistry? Scorching. The found family vibes? Immaculate. The kid? CUTEST PLOT DEVICE EVER. Elsie Silver didn’t just write a cowboy romance, she branded my soul and rode off into the sunset with it. Final verdict: 27/10. Would happily fake apply to be a nanny for a hot cowboy single dad if this is what the interview process looks like. ... show more

  • Love everything about Cade and Willa!
Format: Kindle
Everything about this story was perfect, no notes. I am a sucker for an age gap romance and grumpy/sunshine, but this was my first time reading a single dad trope and Elsie does it justice. The amount of love and selflessness Cade Eaton has (while still being so grumpy) is just addictive to read about. He is a caretaker through and through and would do anything for his family. The way Willa Grant meets Cade for the first time was such a cute intro to her personality (aside from what we saw in Reckless) and made me so excited to have an entire book about her. She is so care free, fun loving, and no nonsense, even though she does have some self doubt she hides away. She is fiercely protective over the people she loves, and that’s something her and Cade can agree on. I love when she stood up to Cade on night one of her job and set the tone for how he was going to treat her for the summer. We get some glimpses of Cade slowly falling for Willa even though he’s trying to not let himself go there for various reasons. But the build up and the tension was insanely perfect! The late night front porch scene has been on replay in my head since I read it for the first time. So 5/5 stars for everything about Cade and Willa’s relationship. The biggest star of the show was how Willa loves Luke like he needs. Giving him attention and affection and so much love that every child needs and deserves. They pulled at my heartstrings in almost every interaction. The pool scene was the moment I think we all fell in love with Willa! Overall, this story was one of my favorites for this year so far. ... show more

  • First book by this author I’ve read, loved it!
Format: Kindle
I’m really into the single parent trope right now, and this book fits the bill and did it very well. Super funny and spicy. Would recommend and will be reading more from this author.
