So far, I really like this heater. It worked perfect right out of the box. We use this in a 40gallon outdoor pond and our fishies get so cold in the winter and become very lethargic. This heater keep the pond at a comfy 70deg 24/7 and the fish are active and happy.

I bought this heater for my 75 gal tank about 5 months ago. It's been an awesome product and it was very easy to set up. However, I was woken up to an HH alarm going off. I checked my water temperature with a thermometer and it was reading at the temp I had set. I unplugged the unit and removed from the tank for about 30 minutes to cool off. After 30 mins I placed it back in the tank and it started reading HH Temps again. I know the water temperature was in normal parameters. I have very extensive fish in my tank so I had to run to the local fish store the next day to maintain my water temperature. ... show more

    • Beeping Issues

Update #2: Seller reached back and is sending a replacement. Hopefully this one doesn't start having issues. Will update if more problems pop up. Update: While the unit worked perfectly for 5 months, it is now having an issue. Over the last two days the unit began beeping every time it starts heating. I tried to contact the seller but haven't heard anything back yet. It seems to still be functioning correctly other than the beeping. I was slightly skeptical about the heater given the price but I've been very impressed. From the heater to the controller is about 3' and from the controller to the plug is another 3' or so. I have a 125 gal and I was able to run from the bottom-middle of the tank, to the middle right of the cabinet, through the wall and into my power supply in the other room with no extension cord. When I do water changes, my well water comes in at about 60-63 degrees. The unit can have it up to my 75 degree maintenance temp within an hour. The temp difference from the thermostat on the unit and my thermometer on the side of the tank is about 2 degrees. Overall, this is a great option, especially if you're running a larger tank like mine. Can't speak for longevity as mine has only been running for about 3 months but so far so good. ... show more

They seem to work good and I like the low profile form factor but, I bought two of these and they are almost one and a half degrees in temperature difference on the display. I had to adjust accordingly. Just a minor annoyance but, they work good so far.

I have had eheim and fluval heaters and let me tell you, they do not hold a candle to this one especially considering the price. The eheim was always so annoying as the temperature you set would never match the tank temp even after countless attempts at calibration. Also, the suction cups used on them are very very weak and begin to be less effective over time. In addition to this due to the design everytime you want to adjust the temp you must stick your hands in the tank and manually move the dial (and given the fact that I could never get the dial temp to match the actual tank temp it would produce, this was such a hassle)! I only wish I would have discovered these amazing heaters sooner. Stick it in, and then you have an external control unit that you set the temperature with with the touch of a button. Truly a beautiful thing. I purchased 2 of the 300W units for my new 75 gallon build (I know I could have purchased a higher wattage but I prefer 2 individual units in the event one fails there is still a backup and if it fails in the sense that one misreads temp and overheats, it is not powerful enough to overheat the tank). I have both of them mounted behind my 3d background next to each intake of my canister filters in opposite corners and it is performing FLAWLESSLY thus far.
