My favorite can opener kicked the bucket and I have gone through a few since then. None of them were good, either too hard to turn or broke after a couple of uses. This one is GREAT. It's smooth and easy to turn and it doesn't feel like it is about to break every time I use it.

We had a really cheap manual can opener that became difficult to use, so after reading the many MANY reviews of the different types of manual can openers, I decided to try this one. I research for about 30 min on can openers and finally decided on this one. I bought 3 of them, trusting the other reviewers. (1 to use and two to store for the future) I didn't have a can to open for a few weeks after I got it but my wife told me that this opener "didn't work". I wasn't sure if she was using it wrong or something but I finally used it yesterday. The opener slips and breaks its grip over and over. I was really bummed with it. I wrote a bad review. Then, about a week later I noticed that the screw was loose on the little wheel. I tightened it with a phillips screw driver. It seems to work fine now. So, it is pretty good. Just make sure you have a screw driver, just in case. ... show more

This can opener is great and opens cans very easily. I would recommend it to everyone. Hopefully it will last a long time. That is the problem that I have been having with other can openers. They do not last very long and they have to be replaced. Hopefully this can opener will be different.
