Buying this stuff of Amazon can be hit or miss. I'm very happy with this piece. The design of the straps is quite clever that allows you to really get a nice fit. I didn't want a full back plate (too hot) but I wanted something and the kidney protectors are a great idea. As far as quality, the breastplate was very well constructed. Obviously it is a costume piece and probably won't stop a bodkin, but you aren't going to damage the thing through normal activity. The leather straps are thicc and high quality. My only complaint is that the rivets could use some sanding/grinding, but it doesn't really matter if you've got a gambeson or other thick garment underneath. The fit was pretty good over mail, but excellent over the quilted gambeson. The breastplate can be bent/contoured a bit if you need, but be careful because I could see the center of the collar area folding out if you put too much pressure on it. For the record I am 6'1" and ~190lbs and usually wear a 44A jacket. I'd say this piece was bang on for me, but the suspension system could easily accommodate someone a good bit bigger. Smaller people can add more padding and possibly a bit more contouring. Again, it's a smart design that makes it more adjustable than most breastplates.

It arrived very quickly, and when I opened it up, it was carefully packed, even the straps had their own protective wrapping. Flawless, no damage at all. A sensible film of oil protected from oxidation, but all of that is neat—I tried it on. I slipped it on like a shirt, the edges were so well crafted that the bottom edge slid over my face without so much as an abrasion. It’s solid, sturdy, very well made and I can tell when I wear it over chain maille and likely a gambesson, it’ll ride solidly and unobstrictively, without limiting motion or breathing. This seller is impressing me with everything I buy here.
