  • If you have a betta and are on a budget, I recommend this tank.
Size: 5-Gallon
I first bought this tank two years ago. It's a fairly cheap plastic tank but it has all the essentials that you need, minus a heater for tropical fish. I had first gotten this as a quarantine tank/spare tank for any sick fish and it sat empty for the majority of those two years, but am currently using it to house a betta I got yesterday. The lights aren't the best thing in the world, and I had to tape them to the lid in order to secure the wiring, but they are decent for a kit like this. Don't use a glass-suction thermometer! I found that the plastic warped around the suction cup of the thermometer and that was permanent. I found that pretty strange, but it isn't a huge disruption enough for me to buy a brand new tank. The filter works quietly but is a bit strong for a betta so I will be working on buffering it to slow the flow. It IS adjustable and has a slider on the bottom of the filter! The filter replacements are cheap on Amazon. I like that the length is much more than the height and depth of this tank. This gives your fish lots more longitudinal swim room while also keeping it compact enough for a desktop environment (this tank sits on my desk with minimal space). I personally don't like that the curved surface kind of magnifies things inside, but I DO like how it gives you a clear and mostly unobstructed view of most of the swimming area in the tank, so it is still enjoyable to view. It isn't too obnoxiously curved to distort too much so I still think it's a 5 star tank. I've owned many glass and acrylic tanks of many shapes and sizes; Overall, I recommend this tank for someone on a budget as it's a good value for the price point. ... show more

  • Excellent little fish tank.
Size: 5-Gallon
What you see is what you get. This is a small, but very nice looking tank. The LED light works very well and the filter is large, but quiet. The plastic base fits on well, but remember it is still a thin peice of plastic. The tank lid has all the appropriate cutouts and openings to allow access for extra air lines or cords. The lid doesn't fit really snug on the tank, but it hasn't bothered me one bit. I purchased a small 25watt aquarium heater and it's keeping the water at a nice and even 77deg. The heater, a cheap thermometer and air pump plus bubbler and you have a great little tank thats ready to go. (A side note: if this is your first fish tank, be sure to read up on tank cycling before adding any fish to the tank. If you add to many fish to quickly, then they'll end up dying. Trying adding one or two hardy fish to the tank and giving the tank 1 month or so to adapt to the new polutants. After a month or so has gone by and the first fish are in good health, you can slowly start to add more over time). Good luck and enjoy! ... show more

  • Really nice, but some modifications were in order
Size: 5-Gallon
I wanted to have 1) real plants, and 2) teeny fish and shrimp. Since this filter can also be used for a 10 gallon tank, it was too much for what I wanted -- chili rasboras. The filter ended up sucking in two of the fish I just bought. I turn the flow way down (there's an almost invisible slider near the bottom), cut a foam paint brush in half length-wise, then glue-gunned it over the intake. And yes, I did some research before I did this. Regarding the lighting -- while it's fine for gneral illumination, plants need more. So I purchased a SEAOURA Led Aquarium Full Spectrum Tank Light. Then I wrote to the store because the light's nice, but the instructions were indecipherable. I actually rewrote them and sent them to the store. Don't know if they'll use them. Maybe I'll post them on the other review. THEN (are you still with me here?) the top was cut open so that I could just place the light on top. It fits very nicely, and I'm happy with the result. Overall, it's a nice little tank; just needed a few tweaks. ... show more

  • Perfect for Bettas and Small fish
Size: 5-Gallon
So I'm a first time fish owner, and after much extensive research into the different tanks on amazon and research online, I decided to go with this one. I'm super happy with the tank, it's definitely great for a first time fish owner and perfect for bettas (which is what I have in there, don't worry just the one haha). The filter is very quiet and effective from what I can tell, and my betta actually likes to swim underneath and and get partially sucked into the flow and then swim away, like some sort of game haha! But he seems super happy in there with all that I've got, he's even starting to make little bubble nests :) The light works pretty well too, and is bright enough to see inside, but not too bright that it's blinding. I'll do a quick pros and cons list, because there are just a few disadvantages. Pros: -nice and roomy -quiet filter (although keep in mind i have it on the lowest flow setting for my betta) -nice LED lights -not completely enclosed so theres a little notch where you can feed your fish through Cons: -does not come with a heater, so you need to buy separately -because of the way the tank is angled, sometimes your fish can see his reflection so for the first few days my betta was very intensely interested and liked to fight it. once i switched to a lighter background on my tank, however, he seemed much better -if you do have a filter, condensation does tend to build up underneath the lid, but thankfully i haven't had much problems with it so far (just posting so you're aware) -the lid isnt attached at all to the tank, so if you do need to take it off, its not on hinges and you have to completely take it off. not really bad just a bit of an inconvience. Hope this helps! ... show more
