  • For the price I paid, knowing it was a no-light projector, I have no regrets.
I got this on during a Prime Deal, so I paid about $175. For that price I'm very happy with the purchase. It was basically a test run to see if I wanted a projector instead of a TV. So a great value for what I paid, but I don't have anything to compare it to. This is not a bright projector and they don't advertise it as one. You basically need complete darkness to fully enjoy it. I am also projecting onto a wall so I might be exceeding the 120" recommended limit. I haven't measured it. If it was closer it would probably be brighter with better contrast but I prefer the bigger image for now. Butter over too much bread, etc. So I might be exceeding recommended specs and they didn't exaggerate the brightest on the box. So it is what it is. Not counting that against TCL. And surprisingly, a 1080p image doesn't look bad even at that size. Especially if animated. Was noticing details I didn't notice on a typical 50/60" inch tvs. Was expecting to look blurry but I might just upgrade to an amazing 1080p projector in the future instead of spending more on a 4k one. The color quality is satisfactory, good even. I don't have any way to test it but I had no complaints about the color from sight alone. But the contrast will obviously suffer with the low brightest. The auto focus is quick and accurate. I probably overused it because it only took about ten seconds to calibrate. The Google interface and menus are very snappy. My mother bought a different cheap Halloween projector and it was slow and exhausting to use in comparison to this one. This felt like a good streaming stick. If you're using this casually and don't intend to install it I might suggest a sturdy tripod (that can support a 10-15 pound device) since you have to move the projector to increase or decrease the size of the image... I think, and you want to minimize the angle. I'm just currently stacking boxes. It does correct for some amount of angle but I presume you get the best image when projecting straight ahead. It has WIFI and Bluetooth which were useful for headphones but the speakers are acceptable when I use them. This is plug powered. My only unexpected issue was the HDMI port was a little out of alignment on mine. I was really struggling to plug something in until I realized that it worked if I inserted at a downward angle. Also there is no lens cover. And lastly, I was amused there was an eco mode. That's probably just a standard setting for the OS but when you almost have to block moonlight from coming through the windows, offering me the ability to reduce the brightness even more was pretty funny. The outdoor version is brighter but more expensive. However, the outdoor model was $250 on sale. What this apparently costs at full price. Might have gone with that if I made the purchase again. But I might play with a smaller image to see what that does to the brightness. But if I could block out the light, I'd be entirely happy with this. It feels and works like a premium device in the right conditions. ... show more

  • Best Projector on a budget!
Wow what a projector on a budget! I did get it for discounted price on Amazon, but has been worth every penny! Had a cheaper brand that was decent, but this one knocks all other budget ones out of the park. Has all your fav streaming apps, colors and brightness are fantastic. Even at 1080p still great picture. Works best when dark. Easy connections to hdmi. Easy to place on a shelf to get a good angle. Has a ton of features with auto focus and adjust the size of your screen and remembers the size too. Love it! ... show more

  • Love it
After going without a decent media setup since moving I wanted to find an easy way to watch movies at home. Once I had done a bit of researching and invested in some blackout curtains I decided go with with this projector. Setup was as easy as you could ask for. You are given the option to either go with google home or I guess just a baseline of ?? (sorry i went the google route so unsure what the other option is other than probably using the hdmi as primary input) You are given qr codes and whatnot which saves on the annoying remote typing. After a couple minutes I was streaming on my new projector, it was really simple. I'll get the negatives out of the way, its not very bright, its not very loud. This shouldn't be surprising since the price point is great. You can use it in a dim room but obviously the darker the better. The built in speaker isn't bad but if you care about sound quality you'll want to invest in something else long term but i given my low expectations it wasn't the worst i've heard at all. positives: the picture quality is really really nice. like really nice. Color, clarity, all really good so long as the room is dark. Its also really quiet! This is my first projector so I have little to compare to however its quieter than my desk fan on its lowest setting so pretty much silent. the autofocus is SO GOOD, its absolutely perfect. i feel like its one of those things that makes or breaks a device like this and yeah, its awesome. the device itself is really small but it feels sturdy and the build is solid. Everything i've tried to connect to the device: wifi, bluetooth, hdmi, audio, all work great with no issues so far. Super happy with it, so much so we bought a second one the day after it arrived. as long as you have a dark enough environment its perfect for an at home theater on a budget. ... show more

  • Worth every penny!
First time projector purchase, and beyond satisfied! The projector is as easy as, power on and go! If you have a google account it make the boot up process seamless. Upon booting up the projector it will automatically focus and adjust/fit itself to to screen or optimal viewing size! In a room with curtains it can be used at any point in the day, the picture is noticeably better in a dark room tho. The input lag is very low and most the time not noticeable, if your using an app on projector and not a plugin device you’ll notice some input lag whenever closing setting menus. I use the projector for my daily gaming and television use, it has blown me away with the image quality and the ability to keep up with fast paced gameplay like warzone or mortal kombat.. have not noticed any games that give issues through the projector. Final verdict: I could use one in every room in the house, hahaha! Well worth buying at full price, and even more with the price whenever on sale plus prime! ... show more

  • Great projector for casual viewing
Extremely happy with this projector. Just wanted something for occasional bedroom viewing. Wanted something small with decent sound and low fan noise. This has so far been great. Love the image and the Google TV interface. With the lower lumens it does wash out a bit with a lot of ambient light but still watchable. I wanted it mainly for night viewing and it’s plenty bright for that. It’s my first projector so I do not have anything to compare it to but for the price ($162 prime day deal) it’s a great option for casual viewing. I just project it on a white wall with no screen. ... show more

  • Good value for the price
I’m very happy with the TCL C1 projector. For the price, the image quality is excellent and it offers great value compared to many other projectors in this range. The picture is sharp, bright enough for home use, and colors look very good, especially when used in a darker room. It is also easy to set up and convenient to use. ... show more

  • Quality product for the price but…
Great value and good quality projector for its price. In the middle of decluttering the space. Fully replacing tv with this. Such a space saver! Knockoff stars cause its bit heavier for my liking as a portable projector, and next is the stand. I mount it upside down but I notice the pictures moves few times, maybe its the weight, can’t hold up. Fan is quiet most of the time, sometimes it gets louder but considering the price, good buy! I’m debating if I should change to different model or not. PS remote is missing a “mute” button 🫠 Update: 4months review Kept it, and love it! For the price point, its worth it. Fully using as tv replacement! ... show more

  • Good budget option
This is the second budget projector and I can't tell any real difference from the no name brands, but this TCL projector works well, its quiet, ok speaker, Google tv works well. No real flaws that I can see, its bright enough to watch tv at night with a lamp on. It easily paired to a Bluetooth (soundcore boom2) speaker and is a recommended addition to this projector. ... show more
